Modders Of The Week

Thanks to Homer, who shared my work with the community here at my request, every single uniform modder working today is either using my uniform templates as a base, and/or my many uniform accessories. Even years after I've left, my fingerprints are all over this game and every single uniform release featured on this site and will continue to be for the life of this community.

Scrubbed from history.... but not from your hearts.

Love you all.

Goodbye.

What the heck was this guy's problem? Hope he didn't hurt his arm patting himself on the back.

I am not going to get into it. The best thing is to leave it alone and respect him enough to have his own opinion about this. That's all I'll say.

well the reality is that's what has happened. he never released his uniform templates but released a ton of uniforms and accessories. from those mods others have taken them and created some of their own. if you've been around long enough, you can tell what is his work in the mods. if you look at pretty much any uniform mod anymore, his work is the base for them.

Well that kind of thing should be expected whenever you release something to the public. Years ago I did a bunch of uniforms for several versions of High Heat. Eventually over time I started seeing stuff I created show up in other people's work. It wasn't a big deal to me.

That guy's posts always seem to indicate that he felt his stuff was far superior to anyone else's and the community should reward him for it with praise and money. To me it's one thing to be proud of your work, it's quite another to be a pretentious d-bag about it. I'm sure plenty of others feel the same way about him but I guess it doesn't matter anymore since it appears he's left the site for good.

Ok, that's it. You've had your say.

I did not spend all these months working on this thread to have it end up like this. This is not what this thread is about so please stop ruining it.

Spungo has not left this website for good. He comes back when he wants to and I don't see any reason at all to re-hash old complaints or opinions about him. It's over and done with.

Y4L I know you havent updated this thread  for awhile but I think you need to give Rising Son some love. That guy is an animal!

The reason why I have not updated this thread in over a year is because I was finished with it and was not planning on adding any other names to the list that I already had here. I covered the download area very well and was able to give some well-deserved attention to some people who have left their work behind for everyone here on this website.

But after reading what you wrote last night I realized you were right and an update to this thread should be done to include Rising Sun. Thanks for the suggestion.

Rising Sun uploaded his first mod to the website in 2013 with this Beard mod that updated the portraIts of some Red Sox players to show them with beards. After this was uploaded the mods seemed to keep coming from this very talented and diverse Japanese modder. He may never see this tribute in here to him because he does not post in the forums due to the language barrier but he deserves it just the same.

Although he has made a lot of portraits and cyberfaces this is not all that Rising Sun is known for. He has five pages filled with uploads here and a quick look at what he has in there shows he is much more than these two things. Right now his work is primarily on the upcoming Mvp 15 mod and with contributions from people as valuable and talented as Rising Sun that mod will end up being a very popular download once it is available here at Mvpmods.

Nolan Ryan Cyberface

Portraits for Mvp 14 Volume 1 (8 volume set)

New Portraits for Mvp 14 Volume 1 (6 volume set)

Biloxi Shuckers Uniforms

Jon Lester and Chris Iannetta Update  (This was his third Lester cyberface update because he kept on making improvements on it.)

If anyone was reading this thread last week you would have noticed that the modders of the week topic was going to be revived again to add some more modders that I have felt needed to be on this list in the beginning or who have become modders after this this thread was last added and whose contributions merit recognition. If you are not sure what this thread is about I encourage you to read it. It's only three pages long and if you do you will see names of people that you know and that you've never heard of. Their work you may be familiar with but not the person responsible for it. I had two goals when I started this thread. To show appreciation to the people here for all their work along with thanking them one more time. Also, it was my way of inspiring people to check out the download section for themselves to see what there is that would interest them. There are over 8,500 mods on this website and only the newest ones are on the front page. Whether you are a fan of Mvp '04 or '05, the 2k series or High Heat, I can promise you there is something in the download section that is just for you that you are currently not aware of.

Anyway, this is why I began this thread. And to celebrate this I am featuring two modders that are as well-known over at Mvp Caribe as they are here at this website.

Jed

Cyberfaces are a very difficult thing to do because if you release one that looks nothing like the player at all you are going to hear about it. Not the case with Jed. Like Jogar84, Homer and Veesmack before him (just to name three) Jed has consistently produced cyberfaces that have routinely drawn praises from everyone -both Mvp and 2k users- who have downloaded his work or previewed them in his thread before they were ready for download. He has ten pages of submissions here at Mvpmods and just looking at any one of them you can tell that he is one of the best cybermakers around.

Paul Goldschmidt Cyberface (2k12)

Madison Bumgarner Cyberface (2k12)

Bryce Harper Cyberface (2k12)

New Year's Cyberface release of Manny Machado and Noah Syndergaard (2k12)

10 Cyberfaces released after the 2015 mod (Mvp 2005)

35 Cyberfaces released after the 2015 mod (Mvp 2005)

Jeferomer

Jeferomer is the second modder this week who originally came from the Mvp Caribe website. Like Jed he has created some quality cyberfaces but in turn he also has made overlays, uniforms and portraits. His work here has constantly been impressive but you shouldn't take my word for that. He has five pages full of downloads and if you check them out you'll see that I wasn't overemphasizing. His work with his team facepacks on the Mvp 2015 10th anniversary mod helped make that mod one of the most popular total conversion mods here.

Mvp 18 Facepack (a total of five facepacks are available for download)

Babe Ruth Cyberface.

2017 Arizona Diamondbacks uniforms (Mvp)

Umpire Uniforms (Mvp)

Chicago White Sox Facepack for the Mvp 15 mod (many other teams available.)

Generic Overlay 2k12.

This week's trip to the download section honoring the people who have contributed so much to our website features another person in the long line of modders who have done incredible work creating uniforms for Mvp baseball 2005 and a modder who seemed to have a much fun creating his mod write-ups as he did creating the mod itself.

BallFour

For someone who has only been a member a little over three years now, BallFour has quickly made a name for himself with his throwback uniforms and the major and minor league uniforms he has uploaded during this time. He has constantly watched over his uniform releases and consistently updated them when any kind of change to them needed to be put in. His attention to every detail in the uniform is similar to uniform modders who came before him such as KcCitystar, Moser316 and DennisJames71, just to name three. This very versatile modder has multiple pages of downloads that have mostly uniforms to choose from although he has made cyberfaces, stadiums and logo sets.

Total Uniforms '18 version 9.0.0

2018 Iowa Cubs

2018 Manager's Cyberface pack version 3.0.0

2017 Complete Logo Set

This mod will update the logo files and the affiliations files in MVP Baseball 2005.

Portland MLB Stadium - Nike Stadium (fictional ballpark)

1993-2003 San Diego Padres Uniforms

2017 All Star Game Uniforms

The special All-Star uniforms dating back to 1997 are also available for download.

1920's through 1940's All Star Game uniforms

This is a generic uni mod for All-Star Games/Home Run Derbies for the '20s through the '40s. Other eras are available.

Misopogon

Misopogen was a 2k uniform and portrait maker and roster creator who made mods for MLB2k12 and 2k10. His roster series for 2k10 was highly popular and was downloaded thousands of times. But as well done as his mods were for both games his file descriptions for them were just as good and highly entertaining. They had a combination of what the mod was about combined with a dash of history and a whole lot of humor. What other mod would have geflite fish in it? And if you have no idea what that is read it for yourself. I promise you that you'll laugh when you find out.

Hammerin' Hank, 1945 and how the Jews feel about Geflite fish

'94 Tigers aways, and the inspiring story of 2kSports color manager Ben Hornbrauer

Hating Texas since 1994

The 1990's, and other mistakes (1994 Tigers Roadies and Rangers home) for 2k10

Shadowball: Negro League Unis for Detroit and Pittsburgh  (for 2k10)

Royals Road Alts that might actually beat the White Sox once (for 2k10)

This week we look at a modder who has made some high quality sound mods for the 2k12 game and a guy who was well known for his datafile work in the early days of our website.

Aceshigh

Aceshigh's sound mods for MLB2k12 were very popular when you consider that most of them recieved over 1,000 downloads apiece. What he consistently did was make 2k12 sound a whole lot better than 2k had done and the results, again based on the number of times people downloaded his work proved without a doubt that his mods for 2k12 were not ones you wanted to do without if you wanted to enjoy that game at its fullest.

MLB 2k17 Sound Mod  - All in One 1.0.0

DaSteelerz's MLB2k Soundtrack 1.0

Realistic Home Run Sirens Updated 1.2

Enhanced Crowd Sounds 1.1

MLB 2k14 Sound Mod - YES Network 1.2

RRodkey

Datafiles are a very complex part of the game. Each one is different from the next in that they change the look and presentation of the game and like other mods made for Mvp baseball it takes a lot of work and patience to get it right. RRodkey was a guy who made a series of datafiles for Mvp Baseball 2004 that were very much in demand for people who played Mvp '04. His datafiles made Mvp '04 look and play so much better that you almost had to wonder what EA was thinking when they originally released the game. Luckily for those of you who only have Mvp '05 and not '04 you can still try out one of his datafiles because his last one was for 2005 and you will see for yourself how talented this guy really was.

RodData2005 (for Mvp 2005)

RRodkey v5 w/Real Baseball Tune (for Mvp 2004)

I have included the readme file for this mod because it is not displayed on the mod description page. These old mods on the website do not have these anymore and most of them do not have screenshots either.

    Real Baseball Tune, version 5.0
by jackcasper49

This tune was formerly used in conjunction with my roster set which has now gone to it's final version.  Feel free to use this tune with any avaliable roster set as it should work just fine.

This tune was created almost entirely by the work of RRodkey.  This is based off of his version 5 datafile.txt.  I have implemented the work of Trues for camera angles and removing the batter swing replays.  I have utilized the work of Kccitystar in terms of RPM adjustments to pitches.  I have used my own work in many other suttle areas to tweak the game ever so slightly.  Much of my own work has been inspired by SerialMike and more recently JohnE66.
It's worth reiterating that this original tune is almost entirely the work of RRodkey!!!!

DataFile Tutorial (for Mvp 2004)

Modified Data File for Mvp 2004

RodData4 & Kamastura Cams + No Swing Replay (for Mvp 2004)

This file is designed with CPU vs. CPU play in mind. It is possible
to play a "Manage Mode" this way - similar to what High Heat offers.
While allowing the CPU to control all pitching, batting, and fielding
you can take over at any time and make managerial moves. You can have
mound visits, make pitching changes, put in pinch hitters, make de-
fensive substitutions, etc.

Oh man, RRodkey leaves a legacy with his stuff. He explained a lot of the datafile variables so well.

He sure did. He's another guy that I wish would come back and look around the site.

Ok, I am not going to say this is it for this thread because there are always new modders that I can add in the future. So this is what I am going to ask you to do. If you want me to cover a modder in here that has not been written about already then tell me who you believe should be included. People who make icons like this goof right here or upload nothing but an mp3 file like this dimwit here will not be considered at all. So, if you have any ideas for someone that you believe need to be here on this list please let me know.

To answer the first part of your question, yes a guy who only makes rosters is considered a modder. Making rosters is a hard job to do and takes a lot of time.

And the guy you are talking about is KGBaseball. He was a roster maker that originally had his mods hosted here but he then had all his work pulled from this site and he brought them over to Eamods, where they remained until they closed their doors. Don't get me wrong now, he made some very good rosters but none of his work is here anymore.
