The chopiness is killing me...

It's really taking away my enjoyment from the game. I've tried everything..

I'm dissapointed that this was not fixed. Why do we have to wait for a patch to fix it?? EA should have fixed it right out of the box.

Looks like I'll be taking this back and getting the Xbox instead. :?

Complaining because there's a problem, and there are many who have reported the chopiness in the game. You're probably one of the luck ones.

I think the problem like someone mentioned, is the camera is slow to react to the ball when in play or being thrown to a player.

I get a ball trail when the ball is thrown accross the infield for example.

This was fixed with the patch last year. EA must release a patch to fix this.

The problem is that EA makes the game to run well on lower end machines (eg. P4 2.0 GHz or under). So, if you have anything higher the game will be choppy because your computer is too fast. The processor needs to slow the animations down and that causes the choppiness.

It's annoying, but nothing too bad. Plus I have faith that just like last year, EA will take care of it with a patch.

The main point here is that EA should have fixed this without requiring a patch. They knew this last year with MVP 2004 and fixed it with a patch.

Now we have to wait for them to release a patch, and this pisses me off!

I disagree with this theory. To me it just doesn't make sense. If it runs well on a low end maching, it should fly on a high end machine. Besides, do you think EA was running this game on low end machine during the testing phase? Do you think EA would release video and screenshots on from a low end machine? The team who made this game is probably coding it on a decent machine....I would think.

There is a thread going around here that deals with your specs and choppiness. By the way what are you system specs? Do you have the latest DirectX installed? updated Video drivers? sound drivers?

It runs fine on my machine, and I have a P4 1.4, 512MB ram with a GeForce 2 64MB card with the most recent drivers and Direct X 9.0b.

I can't think of any other reason why it would be choppy on a higher (newer) machine.

And just to add a little fuel to Peter's fire, the producer made a point to mention it in different interviews that they had addressed (and "fixed") the issue. I didn't have any problems with last year's game, so when I saw threads like this last year, I would think to myself "what's the big deal?" But when I played my first game this year I suddenly understood. Thanks to suggestions from others, I've got the game running a bit smoother now. But I still don't think that the average user should have to go through all of that video card tinkering. Before I read the posts with possible solutions, I didn't know where to find the AA and AF settings. And to be honest, I still don't know what they do. And neither will the average Joe who just wants to open the box and enjoy the game.

However, I will add that despite this issue, I really am enjoying this game a little more each day as mods and sliders and suggestions are becoming available. With a little time and patience, this could become another great game. EA did drop the ball, but we're truly fortunate to have a community like this one. :D

Yea well the community shouldn't have to be the saviors. We paid ... EA doesn't come threw. Simple as that. NEver mind this problem was the EXACT same problem as last year. I do thank you all though. As for EA , they can F-off.

OK GUYS ONCE AND FOR ALL!

Read my thread. I just bumped it as well.

http://www.mvpmods.com/index.php?name=Foru...&highlight=

I have done research on this problem for over a year now as this happened in MVP 04 as well. I have run diagnostics with exact setups on machines with lower specs. I have read post after post after post of people with subpar machines running the game smooth as butter. I know how to do EVERYTHING to a machine to run a game. Background tasks, drivers, DirectX9 setups, memory adjustments, PCI latency, sound acceleration levels, AA and AF settings, Vsyncs, refresh rates, put in different hard drives, reinstalled windows, played without sound enable, played without joystick installed, etc, etc. I have done it all.

And I could never get that faster computer to run the game is smoothly as the slower one.

SO THEN, I took the cheap Geforce 4MX video card and put it in the faster machine (which had a Geforce 6800 in it). The chopiness improved!! Then I took the faster video card, put it in the crappy system and the chopiness got worse!

cartersyard, of course it runs fine on your machine. It's not a high level machine at all. I mean you have a Geforce 2 for god sakes.

Please people, understand the frustration of gamers who spends hundreds of dollars to upgrade their systems only to find the game runs like crap on it. You would be pissed to. So please, no more words about "its your system, it's not EA coding". Or "close somebackground tasks".

And "daddy" remember, EA never releases video from PC games. They are all Xbox. Check the videos, maybe I am wrong. I dont know. Your right though, it does "fly" on high end machines, too much that is.

If you put a high end card in a crappy machine you will have a "Bottleneck" from the CPU. It WILL run crappy. A low end card in a faster machine *Should* run better because its less of an issue with the CPU more with card AND you wont be able to turn up all the graphics in this case. I just think this is more of a driver issue/settings issue. I could be wrong and this all will addressed *WHEN*<not if> the patch comes out.

I can feel your pain though, I had an issue with Madden 2k5 that I had to fix.

Ok check it out mr. CAPSLOCK, I didn't say the drivers fixed the problem, just that it made it a little better. We all know the problem is with EA not our comps, so chill out and wait for a patch, all I was trying to do was make it a little more bearable for some people. You have posted the same statements over a couple MVP sites, we thank you for your research, but we can't fix it.

Based on that you are saying:

low end graphics card on a low-end processor should run better than:

high end graphics card on a low-end processor?

That is hialrious. I know you trying to put a little input using words like "bottleneck but you do not know what you are talking about. "Bottleneck" is a term people use when they think they should be getting better perfermance. Will there be a "bottleneck" when you place a Geforce 6800 card in an Athlon 1.0? Absolutely. Will the game run worse than a Geforce 4MX in an Athlon 1.0? No way in hell. Not in a 100 years. I know. I tested these settings through 3dMark and the scores were double with the Geforce 6800 high-end card. Could it have run better without the "bottleneck" of a 1.0 processor? Yes. But run worse than a Geforce 4MX? Come on dude.
