dmffisher
So I've literally been playing MVP 05 on xbox since it came out. Ive kept my original xbox solely for this game since, as everyone knows, there are no good baseball games on 360. I recently purchased my 1st PC so I know absolutely nothing about PC gaming and how mods work. I traded a couple wireless 360 controllers for a couple "afterglow" wired controllers and bought a copy of the game on ebay so I'm pretty invested in making this happen at this point. However, I am completely frustrated. I try to manually set up the buttons on the controllers to match the xbox buttons, but I cannot get the pause button in the right place. Currently its set as left stick click, so when I try to change that to pull up the pitch history screen, it unpauses the game and there goes everything. In addition, I can't turn on vibrate which makes multiplayer pitching impossible if I could get the controllers to work. Plus I have no idea what "extracting a file" means or how to do it. I hate asking for help, but if anybody has the time/expertise to give me a crash course I would be forever indebted. I just want to play the game w the newest rosters possible w as close to xbox controllers as possible. Thanks in advance for any help out there Edited March 27, 2014 by dmffisher
gotribematt
For the extracting part it's not really hard at all you need to download a program like winrar all you have to do is google it once you have that downloaded and whatever mod you download just click on the mod and chose extract to where you want to extract it like your desktop Here's a video on how to use winrar For the controls part I don't know I'm a noob to MVP as well so I will be watching to see if anyone can help there
Yankee4Life
Ok, I will try to get things started here before the real experts see this. Here is what we need to know. A. What version of Windows do you have? B. What kind of controller is this? The name and the model is what I am looking for. It sounds to me that whatever it is it does not work with Mvp 2005. I use a Logitech Dual gamepad and I bought it on Amazon. I bought a used one because I wasn't paying fifty bucks for something like this. The used ones have much more reasonable prices and I have not have one single problem with mine. I also have another controller that I use when I am downstairs and no one is home so I can blast it as loud as I want. It is called the Saitek P880 Gamepad and I have had that one since the game came out. When you extract a file you are uncompressing it. These files in here are either in .ZIP, .RAR or .7Z format. These are all compressed files. First work on getting this controller issue fixed.
Yankee4Life
Good work Matt. I sure wish I would have thought of it. Just remember, everyone was new to this and how to install mods. It is not something you will learn in a week but you will get more familiar as you go on.
gotribematt
If there is one thing I've learned it's that mods no matter how long you've done it can frustrate you at times. The other is that youtube is a great site to help just search your problem and there's a good chance that theres a video that will help

I've been installing and uninstalling mods for ten years now. I still make mistakes. We all do. Which reminds me of some very good tips I can give to the both of you. After you download the mod that you want the first thing you must do and I really should say you have to do is read the instructions on how to install it and use it. That right there will help you a lot. Granted there are some mods out there that do not have any instructions or if there are instructions they are not that good. If so, make a thread and tell people what you downloaded and ask for help. Secondly, before you install the mod back up the files that you are replacing. This is very important. After you do this for awhile it becomes a habit.

gotribematt
So I'm not sure if you have figured this out if not I will help. About the controlls In the main menu go to my MVP and my options there gives you a option to configure your contoller you can configure it anyway you want and it only takes a couple of minutes just be sure to save after you do the offense and then again after you do the defense unlike some noob I know
dmffisher
That's where I keep getting hung up. I can almost get it right, but, for example, there is no manual setup for pick offs and pause, so what am I to do? Also, its telling me I dont have enough memory to create a profile save which is not true. So it must be trying to save to the wrong place, anybody know how to fix that? dmffisher
Thanks a lot for the help man, Im so close I can taste it!
gotribematt
I do have those same issues as well. I guess this is as close as we can get. Unless I figure something out. I have somewhat gotten use to pressing the left stick for the pause button but I will work still to get it normal I really don't think we can get it any closer as there are no options for pause in it but I will always give it an effort
Yankee4Life
When I pause the game I just hit the escape key on my keyboard.
dmffisher
I can handle that, but what about baserunning? pickoffs? And what about the unable to save message? have you come across this?
gotribematt
The only thing I can think of to do with the save thing is maybe start a new profile I've never had that issue seems weird
