There will be an .mep file for those who can use MVPedit, otherwise I'll post the necessary lines for the given roster .dat file which anyone can copy and paste within a given .dat file. Simply, open with Wordpad, make sure word wrap is off, copy the given line here, highlight for the same player within the .dat file you just opened in Wordpad, and paste over that line. Save. This will not be reflected in your on-going season/franchise. Additionally, I don't mess with contract/salary stuff. Also, wanted to thank Dylan for his great pitcher stamina calculator. EDIT: New problem: imported Diaz.mep into the lineup via MVPedit no problem. I got Gausman in fine too but then deleted the new one instead of the old one (I accidently did Add instead of Replace), so I delete the old one (oops) then go to import the new one again and I get an error msg: This file is not a valid MEP file. Same time I realize he was on the AL Future Stars team and deleting him took him off BAL *AND* AFS. Now I can't import ANY player into ANY team. I added Gausman then deleted what I just imported instead of the old one (more of a mis-click). New Gausman had the same # as the one already in the roster, so then I deleted the old one and when I tried to re-import the new one I got the error msg, which I now get every time I try to import ANY player to ANY team from ANY roster set. Not sure if I'm going to do it that way...... just .mep's...... sorry. Correction: actually it will work for players already existing. It wouldn't work on a new created player. Of course the game is typically not going to emulate real life, but it picked the current top 3 teams in 4 of the 6 divisions and picked 2 out of 3 for the other 2 divisions. The only it was way off on was picking COL finishing in 3rd place (though they are currently last). JBricks Posted September 9, 2014 Share Posted September 9, 2014 (edited) Please forgive if I'm missing something (maybe bad settings??).. or if I'm a bit of a homer... but I feel that the Orioles are very underrated in these rosters. Fastball velocity seems low on almost every pitcher I've tried -- its possible I could be missing some other setting here? I mean Britton gets up to 97 with his sinking fastball... Hunter has hit 100 a few times. Chen gets to 93... etc etc. Norris 94, Gausman 97. Caleb Joseph's arm strength/accuracy is down in the doldrums and at last check, he leads the entire league in CS%. Schoop is a great fielding player as is evidenced by his defensive stats. Chris Davis was throwing 90 when on the mound for the 1 game he pitched.. I'd think that'd earn him enough arm strength to get the flaming icon. Hundley is the only player I see that I feel is overrated... perhaps Jimenez as well. For example, this is Joseph's first season and there was no data to speak to his throwing attributes. Also, I can't adjust every pitcher on every team while adjusting every prominent player for every MLB team in regards to their contact and power. The beauty of the game and the editors is that you can make the adjustments that you want, but keep in mind that I use actual stats, such as those provided by PitchFX. See.... you watch the Orioles and can see Hunter hit 100 on the gun. But if you were making rosters, you'd have to go by a reliable site like PitchFX, and you'd see that Tommy Hunter's FB is listed as an average around 96 mph ( http://pitchfx.texasleaguers.com/pitcher/488984/?batters=A&count=AA&pitches=AA&from=4%2F1%2F2014&to=9%2F7%2F2014 ). Now, I'm sure Hunter has hit 100 and that at times he's taken speed off his FB and gone down to 92, but the game has its limitations. As a roster maker I have to pay attention to all 30 teams and I have to find the fastest and most efficient way to attempt adjusting attributes as long as I'm doing it. By the way, fielding attributes were done from last year's ratings, not this year's. The other thing is that I've asked for feedback throughout the entire year prior to releasing rosters and the same 3 or 4 guys provide information and that's about it. You're welcome to participate by giving me a reliable and accurate depiction that would capture ALL catchers throughout the league and how that would translate to the attributes AND sliders within the game (and the limitations that are inherent). It's been a while since I've been "into" MVP Baseball 2005 from a modding perspective.. so my knowledge is likely out-of-date and non-existent. I was just trying to be helpful with the issues I spotted on the Orioles. I was taken back by the fact they were "ranked" 18th and not at the absolute top of the fielding ranks.. I know the ranks are just ranks, but to essentially be a Top 3 team in the league... it just didn't jive. But coming with a fresh mind and previous experience, I expected that the fastball velocities would be closer to the maximum than to a low average (which is where they seem to be now). As for catcher throwing, I suspect this should be very closely linked to CS%. There are no all-time greats, so I doubt anyone exceeds 90... For example, they really seemed to give pitcher stamina a lot of weight when it comes to the overall pitching rating. But your feedback about the Orioles was noted. I look back over all the Orioles MLB pitchers and made the necessary adjustments. I mentioned in some earlier thread that the game was actually overthrowing when filling the pitch meter (i.e., guys who could throw upper 90's were hitting 98/99 when in real life they typically didn't.) Therefore I reduced all pitch speeds by 2 mph. It seems to help it balance out. And after running a little test with Hunter's pitches current set at 94, here's what I got: Hunter FB (tapping the pitch button): Hunter FB (maxing the pitch meter): So I guess upping the FB 1 mph would give the better range, but like I said, you're not going to emulate exactly what may happen in real life because of the game's built in limitations. As far as catchers I can give those another look now that the year is almost at the end. In light of the fact that I may release another playoff set like I did last year.... ya never know. The thing with the catcher CS% is that it is tied into other sliders like throwing speed/accuracy and the base runner steal speed and base running ability, so balancing all this stuff out has taken time and multiple trials. Lastly, I would simulate an entire season. Keep injuries and suspensions off for now and see if the Orioles don't make the post season.
