PSx / PSOne controller issue

Hi all - new to the forums.  I was researching baseball games and became interested in MVP 2005 from a lot of what I had read, and was fortunate enough to find a copy at a local Value Village and not have to pay the sometimes exorbitant costs from online sources.  One of the things that sold me was that I was sure it would perform well on my laptop and saw that there was the 2015 mod and that there was still an active user base (that says a lot for a game that is 10 years old!)

I have a psx controller and an adapter (This isn't where I bought it, but I believe it is this one: http://www.amazon.ca/Neewer-CONTROLLER-ADAPTER-CONVERTER-Playstation/dp/B004YNIOL6) which I have used successfully in the past, although it has been a few years.  I used a controller config that I found on these forums (for a ps2 controller) to get the buttons mapped properly, and all works well, *except*, I can not control my outfielders.

For the infielders, the left analog stick does what I expect it to do - move the active player.  However, in the outfield, both the left and right analog stick (and the d-pad) cause the players to dive, jump, etc.. rather than actually move.  I will include the controller profile I am using below.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I am pretty anxious to get into what looks to be a fantastic game.

(not on the proper computer to pull up my controller config, will add below when I get to the other machine)

Hmm, no, it was set to Manual.  Setting it to "auto" at least makes the game playable, however.  Though it feels a bit like cheating.  I'll have to continue to tinker around, I guess.

Just a follow-up, in case anybody runs into the same issue.  It was a driver problem.  While Windows 7 will auto-detect the device and install drivers for it, they don't do the job, at least for MVP 2005.  I no longer have the disc that came with the device, as I bought it years ago, but installed the manufacturer's drivers from here: http://www.shophde.com/h05i.html and all works well now, between these drivers and the controller config file I posted above.

Hope this helps someone.
