GoodyBucs
DMZ are you updating your original roster set to include the minor leagues? I would love to download that.
jarchn
I was bored and snowed in last night so I made a program to update player pic ID's and was wondering if this list goes with the one from last year? In testing I just used a text file file that was included in the 2004 total minors package. I've always been annoyed with manually updated pic Id's. So I was just wondering what the status of this list is and how it relates to hte one I have from last year as my program just takes the attrib.dat file and checks a text file for ids of players with a zero entry. Got a lot of work to do still as my programming skills are not so hot but I just thought I'd check to see about this.
mjd888
I have been keeping track of minor league player affiliation and movement throughout the off-season. Here is my list of the organizations with which the players having hidden audio numbers are affiliated this year. Because minor league transactions are not always published with the same amount of fanfare as are major league transactions, a few of these affiliations might need updating. I would expect, however, that this list is at least 95% accurate right now. Hory
mjd888- Wow! Thank you so much for doing that, that's saved me and DMZ so much time and effort I'll update the list on the front page with this data later on tonight btw Aneduis Mateo who you have listed as unknown changed his name to Willy Corporan last year and was in the redsox organisation last time I checked. jarchn - The ids in DMZ's spreadsheet is like an add-on to Tony3's lists from 2004, of course the created ids (6000+) are not, but merely listed so (hopefully) everyone uses the same id for players not in Tony3/DMZ's lists. Hey, no problem -- I'm glad that this helps. After posting my list, I noticed that a couple of players somehow moved up or down to the next alphabetical organization (probably a problem in cutting and pasting a spreadsheet into the reply box). I have made a new post with corrections. Sorry if this causes any confusion. Thanks for the head's up on Anedius Mateo/Wily Corporan. Wily Corporan was released by the Red Sox on October 1, 2004. I don't know if any other organization has picked him up, so I'd keep him in unknown for now.
mjd888
Where do you find all that info about the minor leagues mjd888?? I know of a few good minor league sites, but I stick with Baseball America usually. What sites do you use to keep track?? Let us know and the roster makers on here will have some more resources to track players from. Later man!! I use a lot of different sources in tracking minor leaguers, but these are the ones I use the most: www.baseballamerica.com -- minor league transactions are updated about once a month and includes hard to find information about player movement at the A and AA levels. BA also posted MLB's official Press Release for this year's Rule 5 Draft transactions (listing all players taken during the Major League and Minor League Rounds of the Draft). Before the Rule 5 Draft they posted a list of each team's protected players, which obviously included those minor leaguers that each team felt were worth hanging on to. Soon after the end of the 2004 season they made available for download a list of 6 year minor league free agents, so you could keep an eye on these players during the offseason to see if they re-signed or landed with a new organization. It's amazing how much free information you can pick up from this site (even though so much of the site is designated for members only) if you just dig around a little. www.minorleagueball.com -- a good new website with daily updates, player projections, lists of top 20 prospects for every organization, and lots of discussions by diehard fans about these and other prospects. www.mlb.com also has a lot of good information. I don't really use MLB.com's minor league section as much as I look at each team's transactions, rosters and official press releases. During the offseason, you can find out who has been signed to a minor league contract (with or without a Spring Training Invite) and/or placed on a team's 40 man roster. I also look at each team's spring training hitting and pitching statistics. This information often confirms that a certain player has recently signed with (or remains under contract to) a particular major league organization, especially once the teams start taking non-roster minor leaguers out of minor league camp to play in one or two road games. www.rotoworld.com sometimes has information about minor league signings, roster transactions, etc. I read this daily. www.soxprospects.com gives scouting and transaction information for current and former players in the Red Sox organization. Baseball America's Prospect Handbook -- provides detail on each organization's top 30 prospects and gives information about many other talented players in each team's organizations, including all players drafted by the club in the previous year. Baseball America's Almanac 2005 -- stats from every major league and minor league team for the 2004 season (including player's age and first year, which can be useful in determining whether the player is likely to be a candidate for certain roster transactions such as being placed on waivers or being able to elect to become a free agent). I basically take notes of all the information I get from these sources and superimpose it on a page with each team's 40 man roster. It's kind of a random system, but it works pretty well for me. Rockfan616
Very cool mjd888, I use Baseball America's Almanac and Prospect Handbook and I go on Rotoworld.com as well. I have the Blue Jays Double-A team here in my hometown (New Hampshire Fisher Cats) here so I go to some of their games. That is one team that has a loaded farm system, and it's a good thing considering their major league team isn't very good anymore... Later!!! jscand
Hory...great job as always on the Mets portraits files. I wasn't sure if you were aware of this, but if you go to the roster page of the Mets on MLB.com, then go to the non-roster invitees, they have updated pics of Strickland, Roberto Hernandez, Orber Moreno, Manny Aybar, etc. I wasn't sure if you didn't plan on doing them since they were invites or if you didn't see that page. Either way, great job.
mjd888
I have three additions and two more corrections to my initial post regarding current organizational affiliations of players discovered to have hidden audio ID #s: C.J. Wilson is with TEX A.J. Murray is with TEX Marcus McBeth is with OAK Aaron Laffey is with CLE not COL Michael Rogers is not with NYM. Baseball America's Prospect handbook lists a Mike Rogers with MIN and a Michael Rogers with OAK. Neither are top 30 prospects.
wolfy6finger
I saw Carlos Hines and Matthew Hines as well so i went back to listening and i'm nearly 100% positive that that stadium announcer said 'Chris Hines'. I had the same issue with #3158 Jason Stevens. I couldn't find him but found Jason Stevenson so i went back again but i did not hear the 'son' at the end of the name. maybe someday these players will pop up. DMZ, I may have solved this problem as I was updating my spreadsheet. I noticed C MIN Chris Heintz (not Hines, but pronounced almost the same) -- NRI (non-roster invitee) By the way, I kind of got sidetracked on my spreadsheet this weekend. I forgot I had my fantasy baseball draft on Saturday and was out of town all weekend. But I do have an organizational chart for most of the AL teams. Hopefully I can finished those up today/tomorrow and start on the NL and finish by the weekend.

Chris Heintz has an id in tony3's spreadsheet as 2302 but it could very well be a double audio like brian bruney and joey gathwright. i definately look forward to your completed spreadsheet. right now, i plan to look further into the audio file for hidden classic names or fake names like the ones ea had last year. no dice yet. D.M.Z.
Darn!!! I missed the party! I am the file maker of Tony3's list. Watching people doing the thing I did last year almost have my tears pouring. I used to listen to the announcement of the game MVP 2004 very late at night, probably a year ago. can't do it any more. make sure you guys upload the "list". Go Go Go!!! let us know if you'd be interested in adding the 2005 lists that we came up with to your 2004 list where it stopped. also, the rookie audio id list is available now but there are a few changes that have been found since the initial upload. an updated version should be out soon. wolfy6finger
Hey DMZ, I've been using your uploaded rosters (since Day One). Especially since you took out all the fake players names (replaced w/ fake fake) It makes life easier. I really like the new one, but I thought you put in Rookie Audio ID ones (maybe I read it wrong) Don't worry I'll make sure I give you and Hory (and anyone else in this post) credit when I either release my roster (if I do), but ya'll defintely get credit for aiding the Reference Guides when those are released sometime this weekend! Thanks for the hardwork by everyone The one problem I coming into w/ my Guide is that I need 94 players for each team (25 in MLB/AAA, 22 in AA/A). However, on most every team I've done so far I have roughly only 70-80 players for those teams. So, if anyone can give me a list of additional minor leaguers for their favorite team (or any team) that are not listed throughout this post that'll be greatly appreciated. Thanks again

Thanks again wolfy6finger, i was referring to replacing (changing) the rookie id's from the earlier template with what was found on the rookie spreadsheet. i didn't name any additional players. sorry for the confusion. there are players that haven't been created by EA, in the last two games, that probably will make teams AAA clubs that have currently been sent to minor league camp. most have id's from tony3's spreadsheet. Some of those players will fill out AAA and AA rosters. they aren't top prospects but more like filler players such as Chris Enochs, Paul Chiaffredo, Jon Nunnally (each from the buccos). they will come in handy to fill out your spreadsheet and possibly rosters. check the mlb.com transactions lists and you'll see groups of players from each team that have been sent to minor league camps. of course, there are also several minor league players that were in single A or double AA that will appear at the beginning of april when the minor league rosters fill out. i'm looking forward to your spreadsheet as well as the possible roster update. i can also help you with the additional filler players for the pirates if you need any. just let me know who you have so far and how many more you need.
