Short Season Mod

Is it possible to make a mod that will allow for shorter seasons ? 40 games would be great or maybe a half season mod. I can't see myself being able to play a full season and if I sim games i don't really feel part of my teams success so short seasons would be the answer.

Last year someone found some files that were something like shortseason40 and shortseason81. They might have these same files somewhere in this year's version.

Sadly I'm in a library right now and can't look at my own game files.

agreed. i work full time and this is very necessary. i am tired of simming until i only have 30-40 games left and then i jump in to play all games and win them all so i can barely make the playoffs. this is important the the working man. if you make this mod i will vote for you to be president of the united states man.

In 2004 there was 3 files (sched15g.dat, sched30g.dat, sched60g.dat) in "C:Program FilesEA SPORTSMVP Baseball 2004data" for 15, 30 or 60 games season. Change the sched file of the number of games you want to play to sched03.dat and sched04.dat . Only problem is that your minor teams play full schedule.

They may still be there in 2005, if not you can always try to use the 2004 files and see if it work.

Hi, My name is Jim B. and I'm the one who created the 17 game season last year. I've been doing schedule editors since the Front Page Sports and High Heat days. I am in the process of trying to figure out what is needed to be done to do this again the year. The files are different this year and are all embedded in the schedule.big file. I have been testing what I have done so far and I keep on running into a problem when there is a one game playoff. The game cannot get past this one game playoff. I have made the MLB, AAA, AA, and A leagues all have 17 games. I think the problem may be that the minor leagues have to finish their playoffs before the MLB starts them. I'm not sure yet but hopefully that is the problem.

I'll have to check the files in 2005 because I did some experiments with 2004 and noted you could change the schedule as someone else noted above.

Yes, you do have to play the minor leagues games out before the playoffs. However, there was also a file in 2004 where you could change the minor league sch too. If you didn'd care about the minor leagues, you could always truncate the minors schedule so that the season ends on or before your shortened major league schedule. This would prevent the problem of simming the minors games long after your major league schedule ended.

I'll check my 2005 tonight to see how the schedules look.

The answer is Absolutely the Schedules in 2005 for Majors and all Minors can be edited into whatever you care to. I am currently editing strickly for 7 game Series between only two teams just so Stats can be kept. Any combination can be done. The schedule files are a bit different in 2005 than 2004 due to them all being packed within a schedule.big file but they can be extracted, changed and repacked without much problem.

You use eagraph to extract from the big file. I just finished editing the mlb files so that the mlb regular season ends after the minor leagues playoffs. I'll let you know if it works. By the way, I only do 17 games because I wanted a schedule that looks like this:

1. Play each and every team once in you league.

2. Play the All-Star game at the half (after 9 games).

3. Play 1 interleague game before the all-star game and 1 interleague game after the all-star game.

This is how I did it last year and everything worked great.

I'm not sure anyone is going to be able to create a schedule mod this year. I have been doing a lot of editing and testing and there seems to be a problem with 1 game playoffs. Every time the MLB (not minors) has a 1 game playoff, the game will not let you continue. I tried all kinds of different schedules:

1. MLB starts after the minors playoffs.

2. MLB starts before the minors playoffs.

3. Just edited the MLB schedules.

4. MLB has 10 games in April and then 10 games in September and October.

I wonder if the 1 game playoff bug is part of the regular schedule. Could someone do some testing and check on this. This is not good news for me because I do not have time to play 162 games. I'm going to go back to ESPN if I can't find a solution (it lets you play 10 games/season).

A lot of people that are married, work full time, or both would be gratefull for a shortened season mod. 40-81 games would be great. Whoever reads this, take this as your mission. I'd try if I knew anything about modding or if I had time. :(

Did you try reducing the minor league schedule?
