I can't ever get them to work, I download everything from the .rar to the main folder and run the file but it always says 'error: make sure you are in the main folder' I had this same problem last year and never figured it out

ok, well i know it doesn't help you but it works fine bro. i did notice the layout of this years folders were a little different. i'm not sure what you are doing wrong but this is what you need to do, because (don't take offense), you're not doing something right here - it should work fine.

1. dload the selector to my docs ( every year i make a new folder this year mvp05 so i can keep track of all the stuff). then unzip the file into the newly created mvp05 my docs folder, don't unzip it directly in the main mvp folder. we'll get to that. i think this is where most people make their mistakes.

2. now open the unzipped folder up this should show you 6 files (bat selector, choice, nfshtool, gfxpak, a preview jpeg and read me), and 2 subfolders (bmps and fsh) , just copy and paste them ALL over to the c: program mvp main folder (not the data subfolders or anything like that- just the MAIN mvp folder)... (you don't have to copy the read me and jpeg files over if you don't want), but for now just do it.

3. now go to your c drive and double click on program files etc. until you get to ea - mvp05, when you double click on main mvp you should immediately see the copied files in there. if not go that means you've put them in the wrong place (probably one of the subfolders in the mvp program files) , so find them delete them and do it over.

4. now click the bat selector and you should be good to go.

5. if it's not working- it means one of two things a) you're copying them over to a subfolder or something else B) you're not copying ALL the files over.

maybe that'll help, laters.

I'm a terrible troubleshooter unless I'm sitting in front of someone's computer...

The most common mistakes I've seen are:

1 - Unzipping my mod INTO A FOLDER in your main mvp 2005 folder. You must unzip the files into the MVP 2005 folder that contains the MVP2005.EXE file. Some 'unzippers' automatically unzip into a new folder.

2 - Not unzipping everything...last year there were a couple of compression apps that, for some reason, didn't unzip everything. There are 4 files and two folders that need to be there, the .jpg and readme don't really need to be there.

The batch file is set up to look for MVP2005.exe AND the /data folder, if it doesn't find them in the same folder as the batch file, it will give the error message...

There were a couple that I simply couldn't troubleshoot last year...it appeared as though everything was correct (according to the people having the trouble) but it still wouldn't work...that's where actually being in front of the computer would help me...unfortunately, that's not an option...

I have the same problem Tribe Time is having. I open the zip file, then drag and drop all the contents directly into the main EA MVP2005 folder with windows explorer opened underneath my WinRar program.

I get the same error he's getting..........this method I use is something I've done literally hundreds of times........but I keep getting this error in the Dos windows too.

Help?????
