Subject Low graphic detail Discussion Thread Response (Ariel Y.) 02/28/2005 10:54 AM Hello, Thank you for contacting EA technical support. I am sorry that you are having difficulty. Unfortunately, the MX series of Nvidia GeForce video cards are not designed with the necessary hardware to make these options available. If you would like these options available to you, please obtain a later video card with the 'Hardware T&L' feature available. Customer (Andrew) 02/27/2005 12:03 PM I have updated my drivers and this problem HAS NOT been solved. timzeig
I have a NVIDIA GeForce2 Go video card with the 'Hardware T&L' feature and with new drivers and Direct X9.0c and have the low player detail problem! So it's NOT 'Hardware T&L' (Transform & Lighting) problem. I'm aware EA is not utilizing any DX8/9 specific features in MVP 05. My best guess is they are relying on vertex shaders to emulate the functionality of classic fixed function T&L and have removed support for the dedicated T&L unit of older graphics cards.... that seems implausible however, as I can't imagine EA only utilizing GPU based T&L only on player models and besides which MVP 04 fully supported DX7 based hardware T&L through a seperate render path, I can't imagine why EA would remove it entirely. It's simply a flaw in EA's programming for backward compatibility. :(
