wolfy6finger
I was just looking at Milwaukee's site and it has Sam Narron on the 40-man roster (he was optioned to AAA in March) but hasn't pitched for Nashville. He may be on minor league DL.

wolfy6finger
Yeah, but being a huge Cards fan (and Carp fan) I watch everygame he pitches and have seen in person 3 times (twice in St. Louis, once in Boston when he was w/ the Jays) so the source is me. But I understand your point

But I understand your point If you were JD Drew, Milton Bradley, or Jeff Kent, waiting to face Carp, you'd have hours of video to watch on him and a scouting report like this on him. Would you take this over what a couple of fans can see on the boob tube (you and I) or in person (you)? Andruw25
Quick note: Boston Red Sox AA pitcher Manny Delcarmen is called Manny Declarmen in the game. And he's also pitching out of the pen in Portland. One of the first things I caught when editing the Sox. I met Manny a few hours after becoming a millionaire in 2000, right before the eastern Mass all star game...which got rained out. Otherwise, I might have been able to describe his pitches personally as I could have caught him that day. Again...
DreDogBussie
hey, i've got a question for anyone who can answer. i'm waiting for the xbox roster conversion, but i downloaded the pc roster so that i can look at the changes with mvpedit. i'm a big time o's fan so i was checking out their roster edits. i checked out 2b roberts and got a little confused. he's around #3-4 in the league in both batting avg. and hr's right now, but his contact/power ratings do not reflect this(78/60righty,62/54lefty). i did notice that he did have good ratings under pitches. his "miss" ratings for righties were 1(fastball), 0(slow brk), and 0(hard brk). now correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't that mean he'll make great contact? also, under percentages, his hr %'s were not high at all(0lefty,3righty). this sounds like his factory ratings. has this guy been re-rated? do the contact/power ratings even matter if the chase/take/miss ratings and lf/cf/rf/fly/liner/grounder/hr %'s are good? it seems like if a guy has a home run % of 30 and miss ratings of 0, that he would hit a ton of hr's even if his contact/power was horrible like 20/20. i'm probably thinking too much into this, but the contact/power rating seems to be just cosmetic. Saintbernard
No, No, No. That gun at St. Louis was way off. Mulder at 97 mph? What did he eat some of Barry's Wheaties or McGwire's Cheerios? Two weeks ago The Big Unit was throwing and the Yankee Stadium gun had readings of like 99 mph and YES network had sub-90's. Use your "common sense" radar when looking at radar readings. Perez and Mulder do not throw that fast. Low 90s tops for both. Now that the new release is out, Please, Please, Please post corrections on pitch types and pickoff aptitude with a source. Stamina can be corrected, but if you quote a CG this year as your source, that won't work. You have to build up some sort of credibility before you can say Chris Carpenter throws a wicked split because "I saw it with my own eyes". Very few are there yet. Sorry to stick my Nose in here, but here's my 2 cents, bby, there are some of us that happen to know enough about baseball that can give quality suggestions without reading it somewhere. and just because someone hasn't posted a million times, doesn't mean you should discount ttheir suggestions, I myself, am assistant General manager for the low A midwest league Peoria Chiefs, cubs affiliate. a volunteer coach for Bradley University, and Sophomore and Assistant Varsity coach for a local High School. Along with being a 4 time letter winner at FSU. So i would say i am fairly qualified to make suggestions on things i have seen. and I am sure there are others out there reading this with similiar abilities. Again just my 2 cents here, because I really don't care if you have some sarcastic comeback or not, because all of my suggestions go directly to Hypno anyways
lineshot
BBY - Yeah, I know it's not the end all roster update, I just wasn't sure what changes to the Milwaukee roster were still going to be made or if they were made and they weren't going to add any of the players I suggested. It's really no big deal, as I can certainly edit my own rosters, but I was trying to create the best and most accurate roster possible for the Brewers. As far as BOS and ATL not being updated, I knew that because of the post you quoted. This really is a nice roster set and I commend everyone who put it together. Thanks, and I'll be looking forward to the final updates.

My sarcasm is meant to lighten what can often turn into a contentious site. I razz others as well as myself. Second this is not one of those posts. If Hyp trusts your baseball knowledge, fine with me. You do not have to post your credentials, nor does anyone else. I have said many times, I'm not on the Pitching Throne swatting and accepting suggestions at my whim. It just seems to me to build credibility when your thoughts are also expressed by an outside source. If you feel this eliminates some useful help, I apologize. My intention is a correct roster, not kudos. I am in no way suggesting your baseball knowledge is second to mine. In fact, it may be just the opposite with your exposure to players. Some modders do not come off as humble or open-minded. One, I don't consider myself a modder and I have more humility than is humanly possible. I am wrong every day, and my pitching tweaks are no exception.

houston34
I am really curious on how people can nic and pic every lil detail on these rosters when they just came out.I personally think these are better than any set thus far. There should be more thank you for the rosters and compliments to these guys that put this whole thing togeather for everyone else to enjoy. True there might be some changes still but thats goes with any roster no ones ever fully happy. And in baseball its always changing.I think baseball has more daily transactions than any sport. I think an idea would be is when an update comes out maybe like on a monday. Then everyone should post suggestions to the makers themselves maybe on friday so over the weeknd they could make what minor quirks need to be made. I really just dont see that much wrong with these rosters. Just go look back at the very first set they put out and now look at 2.0 they have came a long way and almost perfect, way better job than EA could ever do.Its like a whole new game. I apologize about a long post but I just had to voice my opinion about this. THERE WILL NEVER BE A THING CALLED PERFECT ROSTERS
bbythepier
BBY, my point was you dismiss people often if they don't quote a source, and they may be someone with even more knowledge than me I understand. But how can you convey knowledge? It may be Brian Cashman on the other side of the keyboard, or it may be my Mom ( an idiot on baseball). Without forcing everyone to scan in their credentials, how can one know? The only way is by someone overwhelming the thread with outside sources until we have no option but to equate their suggestions with truth. It's a cold (and probably inappropriate) example, but doesn't a Judge (llcmac, HypnoxXx) do the same in a court of law? Unless you can show your case through sources, should they believe you? Maybe, if you've built a reputation, but otherwise "Show me" is their motto. OK, that's it for me. As long as I don't see a post of "When the next update comin'", I hope I come to the thread with 10 pages of "bbythepier, you're an idiot and this is why....[sports Illustarted, Pregame Show, New York Times, etc.]" It would be a dream come true. Straight-faced, no sarcasm.
HypnoxXx
I will have to defend BBY here. You're an exception to it Saint, obviously, but I can't just trust EVERYONE at their word. I have, on more than one occasion received information someone thinks to be true and upon researching it myself, find out its wrong. I look into EVERY suggestion made, whether it has sources or not, I just prefer sources because that way I don't have to double check. On another note, I am contemplating stepping away from this project as I think the overall tone of the feedback we're getting is a little too negative. I haven't been able to speak with llcmac yet, but I'd be willing to bet he's not too happy to read about how everyone hates the choices he made on what prospects to include in AA and A ball during his weeklong CAP-fest where he made literally 1000 players. "I can't believe so and so wasn't included." Why didnt we see a post or a request to create him then? "These guys are no longer with the team." Ok, they have been in the last 5 versions of these rosters, why didn't you tell us earlier? I am still inputting tweaks that come in, although I have not gone about creating any players that have been suggested would be a better fit. Like I said, I'm merely contemplating leaving the project, and I would not do so unless I found a legitimate replacement to take the reigns of the rosters with llcmac. BrewBomber
Piters, Cruz & Beltran are not fake names Beltran used to be on Milwaukee, he is now in Mexican League. Piters is a FA. De La Cruz is w/ Brevard County Manatees (Washington Low Class-A; team not in game) Also, I know Narron/Ford are real player(s), but according to MLB.com they are both FAs Narron is at AAA on DL. Beltran was cut in March. Adrian Hernandez was cut in October of last year. Ben Ford was also cut last year.

lineshot
Hypno - I would like to be the first to apologize if the tone in my previous post appeared negative. As Houston34 said, these are right now by far the best rosters out there, no doubt about it. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into these rosters. I think part of the confusion is that I came into this pretty late and never really understood what changes would be made. I think my ignorance got the best of me. By the way, I was looking at some other teams rosters, and they looked really good. Even BOS and ATL that were supposedly not updated look pretty good to me. Thanks again Hypno, and please forgive my ignorance.
wolfy6finger
Narron is at AAA on DL. Beltran was cut in March. Adrian Hernandez was cut in October of last year. Ben Ford was also cut last year. Thanks BrewBomber, I mentioned the Narron thing on a later post. As for the rest, we are right on about. Many people on here are just giving suggestions on rosters, we are not demanding llcmac/hypno to change it or else; not even nit-picking. We look at our favorite teams and notice some errors and then give suggestions for later releases. As for this whole issue about people having baseball knowledge (inside knowledge, word of mouth, scouting reports, whatever) I agree some people don't have a clue, but I believe most people on this site do have knowledge... I myself played college ball, played more than 20 years of baseball as a pitcher, I look at stats all day, and believe to be very knowledgable in the subject of baseball. I always double-check my facts, not w/ what I see, but also go to scouting reports, websites. For example, I'm use 3 or 4 different sources. Just in case I screwed up. (But I was right on Carpenter, no split, his best pitch is his 12-6 curveball) Again, llcmac/hypno don't leave this project, you guys have done a Great Job (along w/ other help from the board)

I, probably like many others have been under the impression that all personel moves were made by the major league front office and scouting department, and that the minor league clubs were only independently owned, and not independently ran. Since this is your line of work perhaps you could enlighten me on it. It's mostly business related, with some talent evaluations involved. I write up reports on each player on a weekly basis that go up to Hendry and the other front office guys. but mostly i work on business related thngs.
