There was a Steven Smith, 2B, drafted in 2001 (34th round, 1019th pick) by the Angels but I don't find him on any of the Angels depth charts or on a general name search at minorleaguebaseball.com or mlb.com.

Probably means he retired or something

No offense but these rosters are worth spending 40 bucks on to get the PC version and 2000 to get a computer fast enough to play the game. I'll just stick with 2.2 on the xbox. Still think it's pretty [naughty word] of the guy to stop doing conversion because his panties are in a bunch.

his panties in a bunch? he stopped b/c some people didnt listen to him. he didnt want them added anywhere on the net and some guys didnt listen.

also he didnt stop converting the rosters to xbox. you have to be a donar on his site to get them. you should be lucky that a guy was converting rosters for ya, saving you some money on a new pc and game.

Watching the Cubs game yesterday it seems that Sergio Mitre is throwing a curveball.

The ball had a 10-4 trajectory with velocity around 78 mph.

It could mean that he is injured and on the DL.

I haven't been able to find out any information on this guy other than he was drafted in 2001, and the last transaction i could find was from june of 2003 when he was called up to arkansas. I suggest that he is moved to free agents, zach sorenson goes from AA to AAA, william collazo from A to AA, and Nick Adenhart from FA to A.

Also, it took me an hour to peruse the angels roster on mvp and double check skin color, ht/wt, birthdays, etc., from each of their minor league affiliates official websites. I did it because i want to help out and fix any errors to make the ultimate roster more complete because these guys did a tremendous job. anyone care to help do the same with other teams? we'll gather the info and post it here for llcmac to see.

sounds good to me. when i get done with my **** this afternoon i'll go through the royals system...maybe the giants if i have time. just a note though: in the instances of ht/wt, i think that unless it's more than 2 inches or 10 pounds off we not worry about it - those figures are always adjusted a bit in the media releases anyway.

Rollie...we've been asking for organizational suggestions for quite some time now...Some teams, such as your A's, just didn't get any feedback and it shows...Not much we can do about it if no one gives us the facts, we arent major league scouts over here...

i apologize, i didn't realize you didn't have the info.

i'll probably post some suggestions for the a's in a day or two.

Garrett Broshuis - weight 170

also, create Clay Timpnor (5/13/83, L/L, 6'2, 197). Baseball America rates him as #18 in the system. Here's some excerpt from the Prospect Handbook:

"...best defensive outfielder in the system, as he's more accomplished than [Fred] Lewis in centerfield. Timpner has above-average speed and maximizes his range by getting great jumps and taking good routes. His arm is average. [...] efficient basestealer [...] one of the better baserunners in the org. SF doesn't expect him to hit for power at the MLB level [...] isn't sure if he'll drive the ball or be a slap hitter. His bat will determine [...] everday CF or useful extra outfielder."

PS...yay. 100th post.

Does Lawrence have a sinker? I don't really want to mess with BBY's work.

No one besides Henderson has a "Bent" stance anymore.

Brad Eldred shouldnt have 20 power it should be more like 60-70 power like you gave Balientien and Fielder.

• It doesn't get much hotter than Double-A Altoona first baseman Brad Eldred. Eldred, the Pirates' sixth-round pick in 2002, homered in his fifth straight game Sunday, a 9-5 loss to Trenton. "Big Country" is batting .321/.371/.802 with a minor league-leading 11 homers and 23 RBIs in 81 at-bats.

If you want me to change ratings, I need some kind of evidence, I am not all knowing....yet.

Give me something, like "He is leading AAA in HRs", etc.

The only surprise that jumps out at me is Brad Eldred. PECOTA loves him, projecting 20 doubles and 20 homers in only 364 at-bats. With 127 strikeouts for a final line of .256 / .326 / .485. Not too shabby.

All the forecasts which fail to work with last-minute playing-time adjustments fail to impress me, overall. Why 364 at-bats? All the systems generate those numbers by comparing the player's profile to that of other players. Or so I gather. Of the 20 guys most like Eldred, that's the rough average of the playing time they received in the year after they put up stats that were so like Eldred.

These aren't forecasts so much as they are ways of summarizing what the player's career has been recently. PECOTA says that Eldred has shown enough power. We should focus on that and not on his inability to make contact. Guys like Eldred have hit enough big-league doubles and homers to be useful. Using PECOTA as evidence in a Brad Manifesto, demanding that management release Daryle Ward and give Brad the first 350 at-bats at first base, would be totally naive.

Here are some other general thoughts I have about forecasts. First of all, you have to read everything at Tango's link on the right. The difference between all the forecasting systems isn't as great as you'd think. But it can be significant.

The Bill James forecast bugs me because there's no explanation of a methodology. They just magically appear. I find Shandler's book appealing and compelling because so much of the methodology is explained. I don't know enough about how the ZiPS forecasst is put together, but it appears to be some kind of juiced-up Marcel the Monkey. The PECOTA system creeps me out because it smacks of eugenics and late-nineteenth-century social Darwinism. I believe it is the only system to put great weight on a player's height and weight. This is why we're always hearing that Khalil Greene is too big for a shortstop. Or is he too slow? Memory fails.

There may some advantage to this system. Only time will tell. The 2004 PECOTA forecasts did not impress me terribly much. There were some hits but there were some misses. And worse, there were a lot of fools who wouldn't believe their lying eyes because players were outperforming their PECOTA forecasts. So that besmirched their reputation a little more for me. The BP guys have struggled to balance their snake-oil hyperbolic marketing against its disciple-producing embarrassments. If they want to be taken as scholarly and serious, they will need to be more scholarly and serious as they market their product.

All that said, maybe PECOTA will start kicking *** right now.

oh hot damn! :lol::o 8O :D :!:

what is your stance (no pun intended) on those nasty looking white elbow guards/shin guards? i take em out when i see them and i think they should be banned from the game - first offense, 100 games; 2nd offense, death.
