bravesj858
hideo nomo, who was fired on monday by the devil rays was hired by the yankees. he's going to start once at AAA columbus before going up with the big club.
cybernetic
The Yankees have hit rock bottom if they really think Nomo can help their team.. I watched Nomo pitch against the Jays 3-times this year.. once he looked pretty good and the other 2 times he was brutal and gave up 6 or 7 runs in each start.. the guy's ERA is around 7.50 in 18-19 starts this season
JP_Frost
I dunno how you guys go about editing players, but I've noticed that some players weren't 100% accurate ( K-Rod has a slurve instead of a cutter, stuff like that ). There's a guy named Cherrypopper over at the ign.com boards and he's done a ton of editing to reflect this year's individual stats - ensberg upgrade, Randy Johnson downgrade, etc. Not all of his edits are accurate, but he's done a good job, so you guys might wanna look into it. He has a site with all the edits categorized by team, so just go over to the ign boards and find the URL for it. anyhow, you guys have done a great job with this project and I'm anxiously waiting for a post-trade deadline release :hail:
cybernetic
well it's a long process and there's not enough people working on the roster set to actually cover every single player on every team.. if people like you send them recommended changes they can make them
JP_Frost
allright, let me just find and post the URL so that people can look at it and see if it's to their liking and if that's the case then we can recommend those changes. EDIT: Here's the site http://forum.aceboard.net/index.php?login=124416&rub= ... just go to player edits and extensive edits. Apparently we have to register to check all the edits

Totte
With the Trading Deadline set for Sunday and the release of 2.5 on Tuesday, there's not much time to work on regarding changes to the rosters. If you have any suggestions just lying around the house or just came up with a fresh one - PLEASE post them right away. I don't plan on making a 2.55 on Wednesday just because you guys were to lazy to post them now. Looking at the Beta version of 2.5 I can tell you the following: Very few 2005 draft picks have been added. I still haven't received the All-Star Rosters from kraw meaning 2.5 will be released without them if the situation remains the same. (I'm sorry for calling you guys lazy in the text above)
wolfy6finger
According to ESPN.com & mlb.com Phil Nevin to Rangers (Nevin's no trade clause does not include Texas) Chan Ho Park to Padres (pending MLB approval, has to do w/ cash being sent to Padres to cover Park's enormous deal) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Also, according to ESPN (Buster Olney and Jayson Stark), this is just a rumor, but a potential huge deal involving Mets, Red Sox and Devil Rays Again, this is only rumored, but by 2 sources and very interesting deal if it goes through Mets get Manny Ramirez and Danys Baez Red Sox get Aubrey Huff and Mike Cameron Devil Rays get Yusemiro Petit, Lastings Milledge, Kelly Shoppach and Anibal Sanchez EDIT: It looks like this deal is going to fall through when the Sox asked another player (a "key" player) from the Mets, who broke off talks. Sox didn't think they were getting enough in Huff/Cameron, despite getting rid of Manny's contract in its entirety and 2 prospects (one marginal (Shoppach) that is blocked by Varitek/Mirabelli and another in A)) Tampa Bay was very ecstatic over this deal, but looks as if Mets/Sox will squash this deal (Devil Rays will ask to for the teams to talk again on Saturday) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- According to espn.com (Jayson Stark) Rockies get Larry Bigbie Orioles get Eric Byrnes (3rd team this year)
cybernetic
minor change (2nd position) Jays SS Aaron Hill's 2nd pos is now IF.. he has played at 3B and SS only so far but in practice he's played 2B and 1B and they're probably going to make him learn to field in the outfield soon too as he had an outfield glove fitted but has yet to do anything in the outfield
wolfy6finger
..... Mets get Manny Ramirez and Danys Baez Red Sox get Aubrey Huff and Mike Cameron Devil Rays get Yusemiro Petit, Lastings Milledge, Kelly Shoppach and Anibal Sanchez....... This deal still in works. In addition to the above, Red Sox may get Aaron Heilman, w/ Julio Lugo going to Mets, and w/ Lastings Milledge going to Sox instead of D'Rays, if that happens Hanley Ramirez would go to Devil Rays. STAY TUNED ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alan Embree signed w/ Yankees this morning (supposedly he had a full no-trade clause and refused to be dealt to 2 teams) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Wil Cordero signed minor league deal w/ Mets
Fiddy
the deal above is on ice as of now just reported on espn news "the pulse" if the Manny deal falls through look for the Mets to make another push for Soriano before the deadline.

HardcoreLegend
Something you may want to look into. Derek Lee seems to be coming back to earth, as his batting average has dropped some 27 points since the All-Star Break. Of course, he could snap out of the slump....but probably not. Also, Ken Griffey Jr and Jason Giambi are on fire in the past month to month and a half. Both have returned to the types of players they once were. As for the Cardinals, right now John Gall, John Rodriguez and Mike Mahoney are playing on the big league club. Don't know where you would put Reggie Sanders, Larry Walker and Scott Rolen to free up these spots, but all three of those guys are on the DL. If Rodriguez doesn't make the MLB roster, atleast move him up to Memphis, as I believe he was still on the AA ball roster from the last update. If he stays in the minors, remember he was hit 17 HRS and had 43 RBIS in 37 some odd games. As for trades, the Red Sox got Jose Cruz Jr. late Saturday and the Giants picked up Randy Winn. orbster556
Let me say in advance I apologize becasue I am a a raw nooblet and have very little idea of what to do. I went ahead and dowloaded the latest updates and got mvpedit. I extracted the files and put them in the MVP2005/data/database folder but am unsure if it works. I checked for Cole Hamel, as suggested in the first couple of pages, and he's on the AA roster but then I checked the Mets and they still had Eric Valent on the big league team and he hasn't been there since June. Sorry for all the questions. Thanks in advance.
Totte
did anyone take a look at the edits? I looked at them and decided that it was to much work for me to be able to add it into version 2.5. Maybe later...but as you said - the edits are still there if you'd like to use them on your own before staring a dynasty.

Is this wrong? Does he play for the Binghamton Mets in AA? As for Eric Valent - it looks like I'll keep him up in MLB for now but that might change in just 3 hours. We'll see what happens at the trading deadline.

wolfy6finger
Someone reported the Winn/Cruz Jr deals Randy Winn to Giants for Jesse Foppert & Yorvit Torrelbea (sp?) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jose Cruz Jr to Red Sox for 2B Kenny Perez & SP Kyle Bono to Diamondbacks --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Watching Sox pregame show Manny deal is 99.9% dead However, they reported that Minnesota is close to deal for Alfonso Soriano (I don't know specifics) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Red Sox SP Jon Papelbon starting today (in place of WAde Miller), should be moved up to AAA Pawtucket (as he has pitched 4 agmes there before this start)
