off the OS boards-

I gave Reyes a batting stance of L.WALKER. It is the most realistic one especially when you use reyes from the leftside so go with that.

I gave Wright the M.Ordonez batting stance. I think you guys have this one

I made Dae-Sung Koo and gave him Ohka delivery.

I gave Looper the Schidmt delivery.

I gave Zambrano the M.Rivera delivery.

Hey everybody, just read through the thread and I have to say this looks to be the best roster set out there for Xbox. I created an Xbox roster set last season for MVP 2004 and I know how much work it can be. I would like to help you guys out with the Phillies and any other teams I could possibly help you with.

Here is a link to my Xbox roster set from last year, I created almost 100 players, so if it can be of any use feel free to use it.

http://files.simcentral.net/index/Detailed/3412.shtml

I have yet to download v3.3 but I am going to download it tonight.

Someone earlier posted about Randy Wolf's knuckle-curve. He does in fact throw a knuckle curve, it's just a variation of his regualr curve which he throws very well. The movement you might be speaking of as a cutter comes from him being a LHP. Lefties have a natural tail to their fastballs.

I know you said that Lineups/Rotations aren't too important to you since ST is not over, but I figured I would post one anyway.

Lineup:

1.) SS Rollins

2.) CF Lofton

3.) RF Abreu

4.) 1B Thome

5.) LF Burrell

6.) 2B Utley

7.) C Lieberthal

8.) 3B Bell

Bench:

UT Polanco

CF Byrd

C Pratt

CF Michaels

SS Perez

Rotation:

Lieber (Oficially named Opening Day starter by Manuel)

Wolf

Lidle

Padilla (If he's healthy enough)

Myers

Bullpen:

LR Madson

MR Adams

MR Telemanco

MR Fultz (probably has the upper hand at this point)

SU Cormier

SU Worrell

CL Wagner

If I can help with the minors or anything else hit me up on AIM at PhillyFan2578 or email me: hornerb78@hotmail.com

Jimmy Journell of the Cardinals was in MVP04 but isn't in 05. He was out all last season due to surgery. My guess is he'll end up in AAA at the start of the season.

Signed to one year deal last week per Fox Sports Midwest and Sports Weekly newspaper.

Liriano wasn't deleted, he's there and I imported Victorino from 2004, so he's there too.
Yeah, I hadn't downloaded the file yet. Both players are in AAA sweet. One thing I did notice is that Paul Abbott is still on the Phillies AAA team on your rosters. I think he is still a FA at the moment.

Excellent work on the rosters.

If I can help in any way let me know.

:) Brian

on Luke Hagerty CHN :

Jim Callis, Baseball America, on Hagerty :

" ... I thought Hagerty would go in the second half of the first round because there were a number of teams looking for college pitchers and he has so much upside. There aren't too many lefthanders who are 6-foot-8 and have thrown 93-94 mph.

That's what people told Luke Hagerty regarding the Rule 5 Draft. ... Equipped with a mid-90s fastball to go with a slider and changeup, Hagerty lacks

March 01, 2005

He's got a little "Ankiel-itis"

After hitting Mark Little on the shin with his first pitch, Hagerty walked four in a row, including two on five pitches. He could not get the ball down and his fastball was devoid of zip.

No stats. Nada, Zippo. Goog ol' "Tommy John" at age 23.

emil- they've got him in AAA (maybe he can close for them). Remember, once Felipe (and all other managers) makes the rosters final, llc and hyp will make the necessary changes. if you 'need' him in the pros in the meantime, just move him up.

good to see another G-men fan in da HOOOOOUSE!

just a little memory that still rings: When Finley hit that slam last year (YES I was there), I've never heard a louder stadium, even during the series of '02. Worst moment in baseball for me. WORST. We had Schmidt and Lowry waiting in the wings. Have fun with Hermanson, Chicago.

OOPs- this post is for another thread

Marcos Carvajal, rhp, Dodgers

Born: Aug. 19, 1984. Ht.: 6-4. Wt.: 175. Bats: R. Throws: R. Career Transactions: Signed out of Venezuela by Dodgers, Sept. 26, 2000.

Carvajal is the brightest prospect among the deep group of hard throwers the Dodgers have signed out of Latin America in recent years. Jose "Jumbo" Diaz watched his velocity plummet from the upper 90s to the 80s last year before he was shut down with an arm injury. Agustin Montero is armed with mid-90s heat, but his command is a concern. Jose Obispo is just surfacing with his 93 mph heat and hammer breaking ball. At 98 mph, Carvajal's electric fastball is a tick higher than Montero's. He regularly fires mid-90s smoke and doesn’t sacrifice hard run and sink. Carvajal improved his slider in 2003, but it still needs more consistency. He also has to display better command and mound presence, which he'll need to avoid big innings if he's to pitch in the back of a bullpen. His faults can be cured with experience and maturity. Carvajal worked on all aspects of pitching at the Dodgers' academy in Venezuela during the offseason. Though he projects as a reliever, Carvajal needs to start piling up some innings as he prepares to make his full-season debut in low Class A this year.

llcmac- i know how much you love roster projections. check out this nut job. 10%, 20%?

4. Marco Carvajal- Chosen by the Brewers from the Dodgers; traded to Rockies- RHP

Chance of sticking: 50%, Ryan Speier’s development could prevent Carvajal’s long-term stay

5. Matt Merricks- Chosen by the Rockies from the Dodgers- LHP

Chance of sticking: 10%

6. Luke Hagerty- Chosen by the Orioles from the Cubs; Traded to Marlins- LHP

Chance of sticking: 20%

You find some good stuff there bby, lemme tell you. I actually gave up on most of that list I had earlier because I noticed most of those pitchers would only be in A ball or MAYBE AA ball, anyway. Keep an eye peeled for any more crazy lists I come up with in the near future.

I haven't discussed it with llcmac yet, but I'm actually thinking we should group not only all the best single A prospects into one group---but all the best single A AND double A prospects into Double A ball...Here's why...

To create a realistic player takes work, and I've stated numerous times just how many players we'd have to create to make a full Majors-Single A roster set...But then I thought about it, and I realize that all that effort to fill out the 30 single A rosters is almost pointless. First off, if we make single a player ratings realistically, you shouldn't see any (maybe one, TOPS) single a players make a jump to the majors. And what happens at the end of the year? Your single A clubs are erased and you have to draft a new one built upon generated fake players. So much for those 660-750 players we made...But we'll see...

Now that I've angered the diehards who want perfect rosters---rejoice! I just uploaded Version 3.4! That's right, a whoooole new update already! I won't paste the readme file here, but just to get you excited, here's a snippet of what is new for version 3.4...

11 Transactions

37 Players Imported from MVP 2004

Over 50 New Created Players (special thanks to miget33 for his work on the Cubs)

Year-by-Year career stats for all the renamed scabs

Rick Ankiel position switch

Scott Dunn's twin is gone

No more "null" error

Many fixed salaries

Much more tweaking based on simmed seasons (I believe the results are the most realistic stats yet, for hitters anyway)

All that since Tuesday??? Yep, that's right. I have no life.

The Astros hope to have another winning college senior draftee on their hands in righthander D.J. Houlton, who at age 24 is again doing well in his second trip to the Double-A Texas League. Houlton, whose last start ended after one inning due to a rain delay, has won his last four decisions and is 3-0, 1.24 in July. Houlton is 8-3, 3.09 overall with a sterling 120-36 strikeout-walk ratio. He has average velocity on his fastball and a solid curveball and changeup, and a scout in the TL who's with an American League organization was impressed with his pitchability after a recent outing. "He's got a great feel for the ball," the scout said. "He throws three pitches that are average, but he moves them all around the strike zone. I like his chances."

Houlton stats:

http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/players/playerpage/535074

here's a doozy:

Right-hander D.J. Houlton, a rule-five pick with an outside shot at making the Dodgers rotation, allowed no hits over three scoreless innings.

"That was very, very impressive," Dodgers manager Jim Tracy said. "He threw strikes with all his pitches.

"He was aggressive with all his pitches. His curveball was as good as Beckett's."

can you say over....

Derek Thompson, lhp, Indians

Drafted in the supplemental first round (37th overall) in 2000, Thompson was easily forgotten after his first two pro seasons were ravaged by knee injuries. But he returned at full strength last spring and compiled a career-high 148 innings in Class A. The 21-year-old finished with a strong effort in the Carolina League playoffs, where he touched 95 mph. He saws off a lot of bats with his aggressive approach and hard fastball. He limited lefties a .225 average, which could improve his chances of spending 2003 as a situational lefty in the majors. His breaking ball needs work, but his changeup is a potential plus pitch.

sorry hypnoxXx- i forgot you got the "night shift", lol...

phillyfan-

i thought this might be your page whe i saw it...

it says wolfie has a cutter (opposite of say a Glavine fastball that "tails" away from righties, it "cuts" in on righties. Best cutter ever? Hint: he plays on the Yanks. It's basically his only pitch.)

http://www.philliesfanpage.com/columns/focus_wolf.html

OK, i'm done splitting hairs on Wolf. i'm sure you know him better than i. just give me a post to chew on.

Hi, I play MVP on Xbox and I noticed a few changes to the White Sox rosters for you...

1.) 2B Donnie Sadler, SP Danny Wright, and RP Mike Jackson were all released and should not be at AAA Charlotte Knights. Mike Jackson retired and Sadler and Wright are both free agents.

2.) Jason Grilli (AAA Charlotte Knights) signed with the Detroit Tigers.

3.) The White Sox just signed Jeremy Giambi yesterday. He will most likely be sent to AAA Charlotte Knights. He can play LF, RF, and 1B.

Excellent work, guys!

This may be a little late, but the Mets added P Joey Hamilton & 1b Brian Daubach and announced that P Todd Van Popple retired.

I have almost the entire Mets organization done. I am going to upload it. Feel free to readjust the attributes of the players, make any changes you want, and import them to the roster set. Each team has 25 projected players, along with photos for about 95% of them using Hory's numbering system.

Re: select Angels...

I worked on the Angels affiliates, and after downloading, it appears that the "ethnicity" was changed for a number of players.

For example, Gary Johnson (AAA), Brian Gordon (AAA), and Dustin Mosely should all be caucasian. I thought I had given them all faces 1-4, can you please correct in "official" version?

Could you guys change Melvin Mora's batting stance in the next update, please? I gave him Guerrero's stance, and he wears the black elbow pad. Also, I changed Tejada's to Ordonez, and Bigbie to generic. Thanks, and keep up the great work!

I think fully realistic A ball rosters are overrated, as long as you have the top prospects in single A ball, like the recent draft class and anybody left over in Baseball America's top 25-30 players per organization.

You'll still have guys like Philip Humber, Matt Bush, and Jeff Niemann, right? Pretty sure I already saw Justin Verlander. Man, these are coming along quickly, thanks guys!

Yeah, well San Jose Giants have 4 guys names Krukow and 3 named Kuiper, so that sort of blows
