Kevin Brown is gone from the Yankees.....he is now a free agent and most likely his career is done....so pending off season moves it is almost safe 2 actually delete him completely from the rosters but for now he is a free agent.....

hi, just d/l v4.0 the other day, i wondering if most pitchers pitch speeds and control were changed from the ea default rosters, i haven't checked many players yet but did notice on san francisco that tomko's curveball is now at 85 mph instead of the default 70 mph and tyler walkers curve is now at 83 up from the default 73, now i'm not sure what the thinking is here but isn't 85 and 83 a touch fast for curve's, just trying to understand the thinking here as i haven't read through this entire thread, thanks again for the rosters :)

These changes were made early on to the UR-series, long before my time. HypnoxXx and lllmac are the original creators of this set and I think they changed tons of pitching deliveries and velocities in UR 2.0. I co-starred on 2.54 before I took over everything in 3.0. Therefore, I can't give you a fair answer on how to respond to certain velocity and movement.

Er, yes Kevin Brown is probably gone from the yankees, but Totte outlined how Free Agency is going to be handled, they stay on the team until FA signing period is over or whatever the timeframe was,

Once you start making exceptions for Kevin Brown - then why not make exceptions for -insert FA player here- and then the rosters get all **** up

I prefer a consistent approach over all teams, not 1 rule for the yankees and another for the other 29 teams.

The accuracy of the rosters is already slanted in favour of the big market teams anyway.

imo to stop the whinging from people unable to make their own roster moves just bump brown down to AAA and bring up wang

Very well said :wtg:

This is exactly how I'll play this one out...

I'm currently working on a version 4.1 with fully updated Free Agent details as of the mlb.com Free Agent Tracker. (This means that all players that have become FA's now will become FA's after year 1 of Dynasty play.)

I'll also update many other minor things that's been noted in this thread since the 4.01 release. Mark Bellhorn, Alan Embree and Rey Sanchez are all missing in the last update too so I've added them now. I've updated the White Sox pitching to increase their overall while I've tweaked some Astros ratings and released John Franco (who was reportedly cut in July...? Don't see how I could've missed that...)

4.1 is coming tomorrow afternoon ET.

"That's why Moki, you should wait a few days after a release to see if they are going to make more tweaks before you start a dynasty. That way you won't need to start another dynasty with the updated rosters. Just wait until 4.1 and hope it is the last for a few weeks..."

:)

Edit: Time for another manager change. Joe Maddon is expected to be named the new manager of the Devil Rays Tuesday so you may go ahead and replace Piniella with him. So, only the Dodgers have a manager that is not their current manager at this time... that's good enough.

Ultimate Rosters v 4.1

...is available for download. This will probably be the last update in a week or so and then you can except minor updates with signings etc. (MOKI: feel free to start your Dynasty now  )

Here's what's new:

- Fixed ALL Free Agent players contract years so that they'll all be FA's after Year 1 of Dynasty Mode. (fixed according to the Free Agent Tracker at mlb.com)

- Improved the Chicago White Sox pitching/batting/fielding ratings byt tweaking some player attributes.

- Improved the Houston Astros fielding ratings by tweaking some player attributes. Dressed Willy Taveras and put him as CF in the lineups.

- Released John Franco from the Houston Astros.

- Matt Perisho signs with NY Mets.

- Added a Changeup to Paul Quantrill's repertoire.

- Fixed the Cincinnatti Reds batting order so that Ken Griffey Jr. no longer bats first.

- Fixed the Boston Red Sox batting order so that David Ortiz hits 3rd and Manny Ramirez 4th.

- For Seattle: Recalled Yuniesky Betancourt and made him the starting SS. Recalled SP Jeff Harris and made him LRP. Sent down RP Michael Flannery to Tacoma (AAA).

- Updated the bat colors for the New York Yankees.

- Updated the contract year for OF Mike Vento (NYY-AAA).

- Added Mark Bellhorn (2B), Alan Embree (RP), Rey Sanchez (2B) to the NYY as they'd mysteriously disappeared in 4.01.

- Added SP Tim Redding to the Free Agent-list.

- Edited the movement of RP Agustin Montero's FB (Min-AA)

- Added Joe Maddon as the new Manager of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Are you sure you updated CWS ratings? Their pitching is ranked 8th, I thought you would make them 1st. Also, the Red Sox are still ranked 1st in Pitching... It doesn't make a difference to me but just to know, are you sure you made the ratings change to CWS?

Yes, I think the Red Sox are still a little over-rated especially arroyo and clement but it's no big deal really,

I think at some point before spring trainng slight tweakings of the ratings will need to be done for all teams to reflect their 2005 performances, but that will be a huge task to undertake and not one I would envy doing.

Yes, I'm sure

I had a really hard time increasing their attributes and what you see in 4.1 is what I came up with...

My 2006 roster will not have tweaks, but a full makeover of attributes...

Anyone undertaking a total attributes makeover for 2006 will need a crack team of testers. It took (for me) and I'm sure takes (now) a lot of testing just to make sure little tweaks work properly.

Also keep in mind that minor league transactions are a major headache. In order for Ultimate Rosters to stay alive for the 2006 season, I'm sure a system much like llcmac and I had will have to be put into place where people track their team's minor league system. Also, minor leaguers will feature the largest stat upheaval, as guys who earn major league spots next year obviously won't be rated in the 60s (like our AAAers were), 40s and 50s (like our AAers were) and 20s and 30s (like our Aers were)...

Bottom line...a lot of work is ahead to keep everything in tip-top condition. I plan on helping Totte as much as I can with the schedule that made me relinquish my grip on UR in the first place. Hopefully other contributors will begin to resurface as well...

BTW, Totte, you've done great work with these rosters. I'm glad I put you in charge.

I did the entire undertaking last year for MVP2004, and it was quite successful attribute wise. I have changed my 'system' or strategy on rating the players a little this time around, but I pretty much know what sort of power and contact to give. Changing attributes and finally getting the final product is fun, but it takes forever. Actually, it takes an entire winter. Well, that's my duty as a modder, making sure everyone from the biggest superstar to the most unknown bench player have new updated attributes. Of course, I am also watching tons of video in order to get the pitches right on the pitchers.

I am truly going to need some serious help during the off-season collecting info from just about everywhere. It's much more than just just re-rating players and making all the transactions...

Glad you're helping put HypnoxXx :wtg: I'm gonna need it!
