here's someone else's post at another site about Yabu. good enough for me.

Keiichi Yabu (A's): his record last season with Hanshin was due to an almost ridiculous lack of runs support. But he is in his mid-30's and how much he has left is an open question. Very good control. Fastball was clocked as high as 92mph when he was in the industrial leagues, but he seldom gets above 88mph in the pros. Has a curve ball, slider and good sinking changeup. I expect him to end up around .500 as the team's fifth starter with an ERA in the mid to high 4 area.

mix in this post and you should have enough for his arsenal:

This was a bargain

for a pitcher that has

(we have been told)

very good command

of four pitches: fastball,

curve,slider and a cutter

and is very effective

against lef-handed

hitters.

here's an action photo (might even help on determining a motion for him, if you're good)

here's his still but in japanese uniform:

To create a realistic player takes work, and I've stated numerous times just how many players we'd have to create to make a full Majors-Single A roster set...But then I thought about it, and I realize that all that effort to fill out the 30 single A rosters is almost pointless. First off, if we make single a player ratings realistically, you shouldn't see any (maybe one, TOPS) single a players make a jump to the majors. And what happens at the end of the year? Your single A clubs are erased and you have to draft a new one built upon generated fake players. So much for those 660-750 players we made...But we'll see...

i get everything your saying about it being a lot of work, but what do you mean about the players being erased? ive never seen this happen my single a players have always been around unless i bump them up a level or just dont resighn them. so could you go a little more in depth and explain this?

also what is going on with the conversions? i havent seen a 3.4 ps2 conversion yet and i use the ps2.

jason stokes (gorman thomas look-alike?)

http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sport...ns/11018134.htm

http://www.grandstandsports.com/pages/13161.htm

Stokes, a second-round pick in the June 2000 amateur draft out of Coppell (Texas) High, ranks as the top power hitter in the Marlins' farm system and the organization's best non-pitching prospect after Hermida, according to Baseball America.

Stokes was the Midwest League's MVP in 2002 when he hit .341 with 27 homers and 75 RBI in a season shortened by complicated surgery to remove a cyst from his left wrist.

The next summer, his average fell nearly 100 points -- to .258 -- after a promotion to the Florida State League, but he bounced back last year with solid campaign for Double A Carolina, hitting .272 with 23 homers.

Stokes, a first baseman, will open their seasons in the minors next month.

http://www.attheplate.com/rookies.htm

baseball, the inexact science:

Stokes, Texas high school baseball's answer to

Mark McGwire, ended his summer-long holdout

and signed with the Marlins on Sunday, accepting

a $2 million signing bonus.

Stokes, Florida's second-round pick in the draft,

and his adviser (agent) Brian Peters had originally

demanded $2.5 million. He had threatened to

attend the University of Texas, which begins

classes Wednesday, but for the straight year the

Marlins waited and finally negotiated a deal at the

last minute.

I realize this, I was just asking because i cant get to mvplanet.com right now, I keep getting error messages, and usually kraw post's that the conversions are done, and generally from what ive seen he is always on top of it. So, from now on there will be no talk of the conversions from me again.

Hey LLcmac, exactly what are these rosters composed of besides MLB players? I know you said you are not messing with Single A but does that go for AA and AAA? 31 pages is just too much to look at.

If Single A is all that you are not dealing with, I'm sure people on here can unite to do work on all those so we can all get the best out of this. Id be more than happy to make a A version of the St. Lucie Mets. Let me know if you need anything.

abc-

don't "pack your bags" because of a little fun at your expense. llc and hyp get requests for so many things outside the roster (portraits, cybers, etc.), they just need to blow off a little steam. i don't blame you for reading 30 pages of posts (mostly my garbage, lol..). stick around, we need all the help we can get.

dkrause-

great recognition on the batting stances. do me a favor please and change my boy Lowry's stance. i changed my roster a long time ago, but i'm afraid everyone thinks he's got that spastic eckstein stance. he's got that zeile "straight up" look.

thanks, Brian

we're just trying to get MLB and AAA for now, and we may not even have each on right roster until opening day cuts. if you want to do an org. like st. louie, feel free.

hey llc, could you post the org that have been done by the members so we know where we stand? thanks

Could you guys change Melvin Mora's batting stance in the next update, please? I gave him Guerrero's stance, and he wears the black elbow pad. Also, I changed Tejada's to Ordonez, and Bigbie to generic. Thanks, and keep up the great work!

Changed except for Mora...MVPEdit is actually missing a few batting stances, one of which is Ordonez's, so we can't actually change that.

Maybe I'm wrong, I thought this is what it did...

At the end of your season, MVP erases your Single A roster to make room for your draft. Am I wrong here? I thought I remembered that being the case for AA in MVP 2004...

If I remember correctly, your crap prospects kind of disappear/retire to make enough room (on the "max" roster...like you can only have a max amount of players total in the game), not the whole roster...this is judging from last years, haven't made that far into it this year.

Excellent job on the rosters BTW

Yes you will want to overwrite BUT before doing so it is recommended that you backup the entire database folder. I just copy it and put it elsewhere for safe keeping. You WILL need to revert back to the original EA database files in order to install any patches.

i cant find tim salmon is this roster... where can i find him? AAA?

I believe he got deleted because he's hurt and there is a chance he may never play again...I'm going to import him back in with lower ratings and lower durability.

Guys great work! Everyone does great work on all of these rosters! One suggestion that you might have changed for this version(I am dloading right now). Brian Dopriek and Felix Pie will not be in triple AAA this year. Probably Double AA for them. Thanks again!

i have never seen entire levels wiped clean i have seen a player or two disapear but that is generally why there is a roster limit. the draft is only ten rounds so that wouldnt make an entire level of having atleast 16 players on it (minimum of 10 batters and 6 pitchers) disapear.

bbythepier - It appears you are correct about Wolf's cutter from all of the scouting reports I have read tonight. I remember reading an article on the Phillies website (which I check everyday) and it mentioned a knuckle-change. Maybe he was just working on the pitch? In any case if it hasn't been edited already his knuckle-curve should be changed to a cutter. I would mess with the ratings of the pitch as he throws it pretty effectively against righties.

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/playerScouting?categoryId=85719

A few tidbits:

1.) Clay Condrey should be on the Phillies AAA team. I know he was there last year so you may have to import him from MVP 2004. (I haven't downloaded the latest roster set, since I play on Xbox)

2.) Cole Hamels will not probably not even make it to AAA this season after injuring his hand in a bar fight. He is supposed to start the season at AA once he's healed.

Keep up the excellent work gents!! :D
