Question: Is the Ultimate Rosters exclusivily rosters for mvpmods.com?

McDiddy, I want to point out to you that I am not really satisfied with Ultimate Rosters for a few reasons.

The MLB part is fine. Players do what they should do for the most part and all is well but when it comes to the minors, it's really lacking in offense and pitching.

For example:

- Milledge in SINGLE A ball hit .218 / 5 HR / 30 RBI in 519 AB in one trial and .270 / 9 HR / 33 RBI in another. This after hitting .330 + in real life AA.

- Most homeruns for single A Mets were 13 and then 9. For AA, 9 and 11. For AAA, 17 and 27.

- In both seasons, no minor league pitcher had an ERA above 4.50 and only 2 even went past 3.

My point. NO offense and ridiculously good pitching. SO if you are going to help with this or make your own, make sure to make that area more realistic.

And to whomever does do this, can you try and work on this?

billjames, what you should do then if you see something that you think is wrong state what attributes need to be adjusted for that player backed up with evidence if possible

- ultimate rosters is co-operative project - Totte is the current head of the project - but he welcomes any and all worthwhile contributions from everyone

- for example MarkB has gone through and redone all the Yankee minors to accurately reflect that organization - he's done a great job imo - now we just need the same done for most of the other teams....

So you don't agree with my assessment at all? Do your pitchers pitch amazingly well if you run a whole season on it's own? Do you have players in the lower minor leagues hitting lots of homeruns?

Yes in A (and AA to a lesser extent) the top batting prospects have to be 'under-rated' as the cpu will start calling them up too early otherwise and their progression gets all messed up

and of course because the offense is 'under-rated' the pitching looks far better than it actually is.

Geforce (who is now banned from the site :( ) made a prospect creator which shows the ratings ranges players at each level should be at - to compensate for the way progression works in mvp 05,

I'm just saying if you think Lastings Milledge (and I agree with you) is underrated then suggest what ratings should be changed for him...

Just remember he was created at the start of the 2005 season too so thats part of the reason for his ratings...

and actually I think that player was based on his 'fake' counterpart in the EA rosters to begin with so that doesnt help much either

How in gods name is GeForce banned from this site when he contributed so much back in the beginning? He was nothing but respectful and helpful in any question or regard.

Anyways, I understand what you're saying but is there no way to universally boost hitting stats in the A and AA leagues instead of just editing each person one by one? It's just a tad bit odd to see Brett Harper, who hit over 30 homeruns for the Mets minor league team this season only hit 9 in two trial seasons and Milledge hit almost under the mendoza line when he is the elite prospect of the team. I can only imagine how the rest of the league is.

Also, Mark B's Yankees thing...is it really good and does it hurt to install it with this Ultimate Roster?

MVPEdit's Global Edit is probably your best bet if you don't want to look at 1500 players' ratings (60 AA & A teams times 25). You can select any one player, team, league, level or all based on any number of criteria. And you can global adjust on a fixed number or percentage.

If MLB and AAA are fine, increase the power and contact on all of AA and A by some number of points or percentage, whatever you think it needs to be. (Note: there would be 8 separate edits, each takes seconds to do, one for each of contact vs. L, contact vs. R, power vs. L, power vs R, and then that would happen for AA and A)

Does MVP keep track of League statistics in dynasty mode? Would differences in simmed League ERA or batting average or total homeruns versus the real 2005 result be a decent measure? Say if the Texas League average simmed were .200 and and it should be .250, would an increase of 25% (50 point increase divided by original 200) to contact across the board in the AA Texas League be appropriate?

Just a suggestion at this point. If offense is that low, might be easier to get overall levels up and then individually downgrade a few overrated players than try to individually upgrade dozens or hundreds of players.

Have no idea what global edits do to progression and whether or not all the AA players will end up in AAA and the CPU releases the veteran "4-A" guys that should take up some of the AAA spots to get their young prospects playing time.

When I have time after I get off of work this afternoon, rest assured I will be responding to this...

It's been a while since I've been able to blow off some steam at some of our detractors, so this will be nice...

First off, McDiddy didn't even ask "hey, are you guys satisfied with UR?" He asked if our rosters were exclusive to MVPMods.com...So the fact that you aren't satisfied was extremely irrelevant to his question.

Next, I won't attack you for your opinions, you have the right to have them. But I'm not sure what you have to gain by portraying UR in a negative light and if you AREN'T trying to paint a negative glow on the rosters, then a simple "I believe the Mets minor leaguers are rated too low" would suffice.

Now while I don't have to, I will give you reasons to as why the Mets minor league system IS rated low (besides the obvious reason Hory already gave.) The Mets were completely created by another Modder, I believe his handle was acosme or something like that, it's been way too long. Anyway, after some simming, many people noticed that the Mets minors were way too good. #1 all the way across the board and players were being called up left and right to the majors when they had no business being there. To remedy it, we drastically reduced the minor league Mets' ratings. Now, if they have remained untouched since Totte took the reins over, then that is your explaination.

We are sorry that you are dissatisfied with UR. But we've said it a million times before: if you don't like our rosters, then feel free to delete them, download MVPEdit and load up EA's rosters yourselves. You'll have over a thousand man hours ahead of you to get them to where UR is today.

As for MarkB's Yankees, they were already integrated into UR. Now if we had 29 other people who knew their teams as well as he does (and fairly too, none of that overrating your team's players BS), then updating UR would be a lot easier and even more successful.

It'd be great if you guys post the salary of the new signings. Saying "Player A signed for three years" doesn't help, well, it does but not enough. What about the figures?

Its tough to find out the exact figures for what a player signs for. There is already a website that I believe will be updated at the start of the year.

Transactions

All-Star second baseman Alfonso Soriano was traded by the Texas Rangers to the Washington Nationals on Wednesday night for Brad Wilkerson, Terrmel Sledge and a minor league pitcher.

Whose the Minor leagye pitcher? Anyone?

With Jose Vidro already entrenched at second base, it's believed the Nationals will move Soriano to left field.

The Boston Red Sox gave up on Edgar Renteria just one year after lavishing a four-year, $40 million contract on him, trading the shortstop to the Atlanta Braves on Thursday for third base prospect Andy Marte.
