MarkB
Prieto to the Yanks is confirmed... http://www.nj.com/sports/ledger/index.ssf?...9080.xml&coll=1 Since when did it being on NJ.com, a local New Jersey news site, mean that the MLB had approved it and that the team websites had announced it? Yeah, didn't think so. I don't mean to offend, but given the amount of totally stupid, ridiculous and simply incorrect "trades" that are posted on various sites, I don't believe any transaction has actually happened until it's been on MLB.com or MiLB.com or is widely known. cybernetic
Jays received OF Dustin Majewski from Oakland to complete the trade for RHP Chad Gaudin.. Majewski was the PTBNL in the deal made a week before the winter meetings. I believe Majewski was in High A-ball last season, not sure if he's in the rosters at all. Jays lost 5 guys in the rule 5 draft.

MarkB
Jeez, no-one said you were blatantly lying on purpose, but if everyone just throws rumours out that say someone has been signed when they actually haven't, then the rosters are updated and everyone screams at Totte because guys haven't even been signed, how do you think that makes the project look? Oh, and for your information according to that link, Veras IS NOT signed. Right-hander Veras reportedly signed for setup duty One Yankees official confirmed the signing, though Veras must pass a physical and the contract language must be finalized. Don't you find it funny that that "report" was made on the 21st of November, yet Veras is not on the Yankees roster, and no official press release has been made regarding this? You want to inform people of transactions, at least do it right. Post some sort of official link. A team press release, a link to the MLB transactions pointing it out, anything. Not a report that says right on the page that a guy still has to undergo a physical and get anywhere near a contract.

The story was from the Star-Ledger, a New Jersey newspaper posted on NJ.com. In my opinion that is credible enough. It's not as if this was taken from a message board. I understand exercising caution but to be that incredulous seems silly. Anyway, here is further proof the Yanks signed Prieto...http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/team/transactions.jsp?c_id=nyy&year=2005&month=
MarkB
So, would you consider ESPN to be credible too? Because they post all sorts of rumours that aren't remotely true, people believe them, then wonder why they haven't materialised. And thank you for finally pointing out the Prieto signing. I'll update the rosters.

I'll update the rosters. I'd like to think I can decipher rumor from fact no matter what site it is posted on. Obviously some sites are deemed more credible than others. Anyway, good job on the Yanks organization in the roster set. If we can find more people to go that in depth with a team these ultimate rosters would be even more tremendous. Obviously some sites are deemed more credible than others. Anyway, good job on the Yanks organization in the roster set. If we can find more people to go that in depth with a team these ultimate rosters would be even more tremendous. Well, some of them are pretty strong rumours that might have been true, but just don't happen for whatever reason. I gave up on ESPN a looooong time ago as far as signings go. boosox, ESPN didn't always have a rumours section, and I don't even know if they do now. They used to just post their "stories" on the main pages and state them as fact, then they would suddenly disappear when every team official and the players involved denied it. Also, how am I mad? Because I don't want Totte, or anyone else, to waste their time and effort updating something which they'll have to undo later on when everyone complains and it emerges that the trade, rumour or free agent pickup didn't actually happen? And what go geese have to do with anything? And what's with the damn backslashes? 8O
