Yeah, I've got my eye on the DBacks and Cubs pretty much, but I've been so busy, I really haven't done much for either yet. (miget33 helped out a ton with creating guys for the Cubbies, though)

Rating minor leaguers isn't really hard, since it's not really an exact science. Basically you want to get as much info on a player as you can: is he a power hitter? contact hitter? speedster? How is his defense? What pitches does he throw? Which pitches are better than others? Is he injury prone?

Now that you know strengths and weaknesses, the goal is to provide some kind of consistency on the team level. Example, just because a guy is a God in single A ball doesn't mean you should give him major league ratings. Or even AAA ratings. An elite A ball player should just have the best ratings of anyone in A ball and/or ratings like the bottom half of Double A which would induce normal promotion and so on. That's basically what I've done with everyone I've made. If you're giving guys in single A a contact/power rating of like 60/55, he's going to find himself in the majors eventually, and will most likely start in AAA as soon as you start your dynasty and the CPU gets control of the non-user teams. Easiest way to keep the consistency? If you're creating a AA guy, use a fake AA guy from EA's rosters as a template and so on. Then you can tweak from there, based on his reports.

Hope that helps.

As for llcmac not responding, he's been away from the wonderful land of fast computers for a while, so I basically frankenstiened his rosters this past week. I'm taking a break for a few days though, so until Wednesday, all requests should go to him. Maybe we'll even have another roster update by the end of next week if we see a donation or two

For PC, do I need to download your first version of rosters and then download the newest ones so I can load the rosters in the load rosters screen? I have just downloaded your newest version and am not sure if it's in the game or not.

If installed properly, our rosters become your game's default rosters. Nothing to load, they're already in there.

Thanks for the updates jabroni and abacus...

As for Takatsu, according to ESPN.com:

He sometimes throws his dive-bombing changeup in the low-60s, pitching coach Don Cooper says "it looks like it can defy a little gravity sometimes."

A better description, according to David Brown of the Northwest Herald Online:

"'The Frisbee,' a nightmarish mix of slider-curve-slurve-changeup-gimme an aspirin tablet, zips across home plate going roughly 60 mph and drops out of sight."

So no, its not quite the 53 that the EA idiots have it as, but close...I moved it to 62 and cranked up its movment.

I have seen Shingo pitch live and his frisbee change-up is disgustingly slow. Here are some excerpts about Shingo's pitching speeds from WhiteSox.com:

Article 1:

Seeing hitters watch his 59 mph changeup morph into his 88 mph fastball on the next pitch truly has been entertaining.

Article 2:

There's also the novelty of watching one or two pitches coming in at 59 or 60 mph every time he takes the mound.

Article 3:

Takatsu features an 87-90 mph fastball. Coming on the heels of what he calls "a sinker," but actually works as a 60-mph changeup, it seems much quicker.

Article 4:

Cooper knows that the league made adjustments to Takatsu as the year progressed, trying to swing at his 89-mph fastball early on in the count, and avoiding his 59-mph "Asian Eephus," as dubbed by the White Sox pitching coach.

Article 5:

With a fastball in the high-80s to low-90s, a slider that he throws in the low- to mid-70s and a changeup that is off the charts slow, Takatsu had the ability to keep hitters off their stride for the entire season.

So Shingo's frisbee change-up should go as low as 59 MPH and his fastball should go as high as 89 MPH. Shingo can sometimes throw just above 90 MPH but he rarely does.

Shingo has also recently said that he developed a new pitch this offseason to help him get lefties out but we don't know what it is yet. Speculation is that the new pitch is a cutter which he most likely learned from his buddy Esteban Loaiza before Loaiza was traded to the Yankees. So you may have to give Shingo a new pitch soon.

So I can download your latest rosters without having to download your original set?

Thanks for the good sleuthing...Al Levine is in our rosters, he's just on Toledo instead of Fresno at the moment. I couldn't find Pulsipher in my 2004 file, maybe llcmac will have better luck...

Okay, the Orioles roster is wrong.

Jay Gibbons has been changed to 1B. Palmeiro is now full-time DH (except during interleague, where he will probably be 1B). Also, Tejada will bat 3rd, Sosa 4th, not the other way around.

Also, on the Twins roster, you have Terry Tifee and Jason Barlett on the AA roster, seeing as how Bartlett is supposedly the favorite to win the Major League SS positon, he should go up to MLB. Tifee should be in AAA.

Pedro has his cutter, Drese has his sinker, and Kolb has his change up. Nice to know you guys are listening...not that we thought otherwise, but that was pretty responsive!

Alot of the lineups and rotations are off right now, as that is not the main priority at the moment. The priority now is getting all the payers to the correct teams and seeing who needs created or added then as lineups start to become final they will be put into the rosters.

also I just noticed that ryan langerhans probably needs a boost to his batting stats hes atleast and most likely a better hittter than esix snead but his ratings dont show that.

hyp-

thanks for the vine. i'll 'try' to do some of the ratings. my G-men should be easy, because we have almost no 'big league' prospects in the minors. all of our prospects our on the mound and already in (Cain, Foppert, Valdez, Aardsma).

I just got done playing and i ran into these two pitchers on the same team. thought i'd try to get their ratings tweaked again.

all excerpts are from articles linked:

J. Schmidt (my boy)-

Schmidt usually throws his changeup between 87 and 90, as hard as many pitchers' fastballs. The pitch acts almost like a screwball, breaking down and away from lefthanded hitters and in to righthanded batters. It fades at the end, with the kind of hard, late movement hitters loathe. (more speed and movement, please)(2-seam should be about 92mph with less control, curve less control, so simulation numbers won't be out of whack, like 2.00 ERA)

http://msn.foxsports.com/story/2650762

i love Edmonds' comments from same article:

Asked about Schmidt's changeup, Edmonds shrugged his shoulders, offered a bemused and helpless smirk and said, "You want to go up there and try to hit it? Basically, the only thing you can do is not overswing," Edmonds said. "We don't see every pitcher, but as far as I see, he's the toughest in the league."

hyp (and AF3141)-

i don't know why i'm standing up for this guy but i am.

F. Francisco (TEX)

But another of the Rangers’ hard-throwing bullpen corps, Frank Francisco, got Inge to chase a high, 98-mph fastball on a 3-2 count to end the rally and finish off the Tigers’ last scoring chance. (fastball should be 2-4 mph faster, can make big difference) (.198 BA against)

http://www.detnews.com/2004/tigers/0408/04/g01-232480.htm

He reared back and fired fastballs that approached the high 90s and supplemented them with a good splitter (second pitch should be splitter, not slider, and should have better ratings (87 mph, 70ish control)

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/playerScoutin...tegoryId=200835

why i find it hard 'standing up for this guy:

Overall, he went 5-1 with a 3.33 ERA and 1.25 WHIP in 45 games but will be rembembered for launching a chair into the stands during a September brawl. Suspended the last 2 weeks, he will be the setup again and should be even better.

llcmac,

I downloaded 3.4, and you did a great job releasing Dan Wright and Mike Jackson. I'm watching teh Sox right now, but don't seem to see one of there key prospects.

http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...layer_id=434602

He plays first base in AAA, and is slated to replace Konerko one day.

HERE ARE A FEW PLAYERS THAT I THINK< I DON'T SEE:

Kevin Walker

Sean Tracey

http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...layer_id=434600

KRIS HONEL
