slikkrikk
I have been trying to spot guys with the fast change. So far all I've found is Eric Gagne changeup (89 MPH) and Jorge Julio's changeup (89 MPH). To my knowledge, Gagne can throw a change in the mid 60s. MarkB
Bitching and moaning for ps2 rosters in this thread is not going to get them converted any faster. Co-signed. It really is getting annoying now. They will be converted when kraw has time. If anyone else wants to do it, I'm pretty sure no-one would complain, so if you've got enough time to complain about there not being an updated PS2 or XBOX version, maybe you should spend that time learning how to do it yourself. With regard to the fast changeup discussion, to find them much more quickly than going through each team, you could do an MVPEdit search with the following creteria; Criteria = all Pitch 2 type = changeup Pitch 2 velocity > 85 (or whatever number you consider to be too fast for a changeup) That would show you a list of all players who have changeups at a velocity higher than 85mph listed as their second pitch. Repeat the query for pitches 3, 4 and 5 and you should have a complete list. :)

I thought Gagne's change was in the high 80s (like a split) and he had a curve in the upper 60s... The CPU just tends not to 'fully charge' the off-speed pitches, causing them to go fast, while fastballs may go slower.
theotherguy619
While I'd be honored to have my ratings incorporated in UR, that is Totte's decision. If he does not want to use them, and make his own instead, just be happy that there is a Total Minors roster available. what if i took the time to do it? it may take a while but would there be a problem if i did it? Kriegz
how long would it take to use SS player ratings in the Ultimate Rosters? Would that be crossing a line of credibility? would anybody do it? i like ultimate rosters but some of the attributes just dont seem right. gcurrier2004
Yes, there would be a problem if you did so don't do it... I just got the Baseball America prospect handbook today Totte, I have done the Arizona Diamondbacks top 10 so far scouting them with the book and Baseball Prospectus pectoas. I just want you to take a look at how I am doing it to see if it is understandable for you. I sent you a PM also.

teppista
Bitching and moaning for ps2 rosters in this thread is not going to get them converted any faster. I wasn't bitching and moaning...I was just trying to see if there was a problem. Totte said last weekend that as far as he knew the rosters were going to be converted before the end of the weekend.....it is now Friday....I'm not trying to annoy anyone, I was just looking for a time frame is all. As far as converting them myself...I would but there is only a converter for XBox not PS2 and I really wouldn't be too sure of what I was doing anyway. I understand Kraw is busy....thats cool....I just wasn't sure if there was a date for the release. He said last week that he'd convert the rosters for PS2 as long as he knew they worked, and myself and one or two other people replied that they did. I sent Kraw a PM too simply asking when he thought they might be up but never received a response. I just want to play MVP thats all...especially when I come on here and read about all the fun that everybody else is having playing their PC versions. If I came off like I was bitching and moaning with just one post agreeing with somebody.....please accept my apology. I will gladly donate money to Kraw/MVP Mods once the conversion is complete....I'm not being impatient.....just was wondering if there was a date that was firm, because all the other dates I've heard have passed. Peace.

slikkrikk
According to ESPN.com's scouting report on Gagne at the beginning of the 2004 season, he gets the job done with three main pitches. He has a 95-98 MPH fastball and two off-speed pitches. He uses a "vulcan changeup" which comes across in the upper 80 MPH range with some screwball motion and a big drop, and a slow curveball around 65-70 MPH which he throws for a strike. SS, you're right -- my bad.
brtalley
as far as the braves go...there might need to be some changes to ratings. soriano has it real close. andruw jones- i love him, but his contact shouldnt be in 90's chipper- ratings should be a little higher in contact and power...he's had a few short years, but last year's production was great considering. frankeour- contact and power should be a little higher, and even more vs. lefties i havent done any research whatsoever, but i have compared the different rosters (ea update, sorriano and these) and some i feel are more accurate with some people than others. if someone would just take a look at them and let me know what they think. also, Hampton will be out for the rest of the season...we might as well think about lowering his stats a lot and dropping him in AA or something. he should definately be out of the rotation. if you need any more braves help, PM me. i can do some research. BillyBeaneBall
I was told by someone else to post this problem here. It's more about a roster problm with the update. Rich Harden of the A's throws a changeup in real life from ESPN.com's scouting page: Pitching As his name suggests, Harden throws hard. His fastball clocks near 94 MPH as the game begins, but he is one of those hurlers who gains velocity and later brings it at 97 MPH. With Harden mixing in a slider and a changeup, hitters find themselves overpowered, chasing the hard slider in the dirt or climbing the ladder for the fastball. The hitters who do make contact and fail are pretty well split between flyball outs and groundouts. He will need to work a little more on his control to reduce his walk total, but as a true power pitcher, Harden rounds out the Oakland rotation nicely. Also two years ago barry Zito added a 2 seamer to his repitoire. it's what has been credited to his turnaround back to a Cy Young caliber pitcher. Again, from ESPN.com's scouting page: Pitching It is no secret that Zito does not overpower anyone. His fastball, at best, clocks at 89 MPH, though he does have a solid change. But Zito lives and dies by his wicked 12-to-6 curve. Throwing it for strikes didn't come as easy in 2004, and Zito fell behind hitters more often and was hit a lot more. Near midseason, Zito added a two-seam fastball that fades from hitters, and that aided him during the second half. Also Nick Swisher's second position is 1B I hope I didn;t put this in the wrong place. I'm new around here and think that these mods you guys worked on are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Great work to everyone involved!
teeds
Kris Benson is adding a splitter and curveball to a reportoire that includes his fastball, slider and changeup. He met with Mazzone three times in Atlanta over the winter to work on the pitches. Mazzone noted that Benson demonstrated "real good control" during their sessions and was extremely coachable. http://blogs.baltimoresun.com/sports_custom_roch/

pkelde99
Newbie question. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, I have the latest update and love it. Thanks much Totte. When I play the Pirates, they're starting catcher, I think Cota is his name, his head comes up green and red with some writing on it. It's actually kind of funny, but I've also had some issues with crashing when I play the Pirates so that's not funny. Does anyone know why this guy has a funny looking head? What did I do wrong here...? Thanks lots Phil Edit: Oh yeah, first time poster here too. Just found out about these rosters! Keep up the work! It's greatly appreciated. pkelde99
Um, I downloaded UR 5.1, but I don't think I put in models.big. I think I went for the standard download idea and just replaced the data info in the database folder. I'm not sure if I did anything else. I do remember doing something with a uniform.big or something like that too. Sorry for all the questions. If you want this moved to another thread, I will gladly do so.
