Totte
just wondering what the major changes are going to be in 5.2. are minor league teams going to have full 25 man rosters or will that be more for the opening day release? just curious. thanks again for the great work. The main focus in 5.2 has been on getting the transactions up-to-date with all that's ben going down over the last 3-4 weeks. I've also taken the time to add some new prospcets and correct other minor issues with the rosters. Come opening day, I'll try and fill out the minor league rosters with prospects and correct all the lineups.

Hilbs
So I'm sitting here with UR 5.1 loaded up on my xbox, and I have a few things I noticed that should be fixed for 5.2. Right now I'm going through and doing a few ratings changes according to my own personal formula, and I'm trying to make sure everyuone on the 40 man roster per mlb.com is on either MLB or AAA. I did the Cubs and they look good. I'm doing the white sox now and I see a few things wrong, lemme list em: Timo Perez(MLB) >> FA Felix Diaz(AAA) >> FA Jon Adkins(AAA) >> FA >> Padres also, I couldn't find Casey Ragowski anywhere in the Sox minor league stem; he is on the 40 man roster. I also created Tuffy Rhodes and added him to AAA Cincinatti Reds. Thats all for now, I'll be working on this over the next few days, I'm so anxious to get to opening day and get some rosters for that. Expect me to weigh in on this, as I just found the board awhile ago, I'm a regular poster over at utopia, and I love the work you guys do.
UncleMo
I have a good question. Lets say the top 100 rookies are listed by Baseball American (BA), Do you arbitrarily look at, say the top 10, or top 25 and assign them a star rating of 5 or 4? If not, why not? If so, how do you discern what to assign each player. I've come to this question as I've been scouting Jeremy Hermida in 2008 of my dynasty and am wanting to take him on my team via trad but I think, am not sure, he has a star rating of 3 when I believe it should be a 4-5. I have a list of 4-5 players I will try to trade for and then I saw BA put their list of top 100 players and all fo these questins came to mind. Any words or discussion about this would be appreciated. Thank you. Mo. If it helps you make a decision, you can always use EA's guide where they make 4 percent of rookies 5 star players. Look in the rookie.big file and inside is a .csv file called something like starlvl.csv or something like that. I think it goes like this, but not sure: 1 star level: 52% 2 star level: 24% 3 star level: 12% 4 star level: 8% 5 star level: 4% Now, I wouldn't like that since alot of the players I like would end up being 3 or 2 star players, but hey, it is a guide at least that EA went by for drafting rookies in your dynasty. Just FYI is all, not that I'm suggesting you go by that. I'll shut up and let you be Totte.

superzark
Don't know. Haven't heard from Mark regarding this. I can say that Tabata won't be added at this point. i understand you guys have your reasons for deciding what players go in these rosters and which ones don't. and since you guys take the time to create these rosters, i respect that you should have the final decision. however, i do feel that jose tabata should be included in this roster. below is a recent excerpt from baseball america. again, i can live with whatever you guys decide. no worries. i can always just create the guy myself. thanks again and keep up the good work. Jose Tabata, OF, Yankees. If Andrus isn’t the best young player in the minors, then it’s Tabata. Tabata’s also going to play full season ball at 17 (he’s a couple of months older than Elvis), but his overall offensive game is far better. He batted .314-3-25 with a 14-15 K/BB ratio and 22 steals in the Gulf Coast League last season. He is an extreme contact hitter with tremendous power upside, and he could easily be another Vlad Guerrero. I expect him to go in the first 2-3 rounds of our minor-league draft this year. I agree with you that Tabata should be a part of the Yankee rosters but the reason why I won't be adding him now is because there's simply no space for him. The whole Yankee system is overcrowded at the moment.

The whole Yankee system is overcrowded at the moment. Agreed. You really can't add such an insignificant if you don't intend on playing your dynasty past a season or two. However, if you do, wait a year or two and edit the people you choose in your draft. No biggie.
superzark
no big deal. like i said before, i totally respect your decisions since you're the ones making the rosters. i'm looking forward to the release of 5.2 today! thanks again guys.

MarkB
I agree with you that Tabata should be a part of the Yankee rosters but the reason why I won't be adding him now is because there's simply no space for him. The whole Yankee system is overcrowded at the moment. Yep, that's exactly the problem - there are just too many players in the Yankees lower minors that have potential, and current age and upside has to take preference over a 17-year old who has just finished his first 44 games in short-season ball. There are currently 5 outfielders in the Tampa rosters; Brett Gardner, Tim Battle, Austin Jackson, Vince Faison and Jonathan Poterson. 4 out of 5 of these guys are players who would be requested if they weren't in the rosters and Faison is a 25-year old who the Yankees just picked up recently and who hit .383 in Tampa. Chances are, he'll be moved up in 2006 - if he's not, he'll probably be released. Both are possibilities as I don't think the Yankees really need a 25-year old outfielder who has a career .256 minor league average, so Tabata might be added when the Opening Day rosters are released or soon after when the full minor league rosters become available. I'd like to add Tabata, but unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it ) it would be at the expense of other good players aho also deserve to be in the rosters. Trust me though, he'll be one of, if not the first player added when a spot becomes available. Thanks. :)

Totte
Finally! UR 5.2 has been uploaded. Remember that this is the Standard Version that's NOT compatible with the updated models.big included in my previous works and the MVP06-project. Here’s what’s new in this version: • Transactions are up-to date as of March 8th (4 pm ET) • Added a bunch of new prospects. • Fixed several issues with not completed lineups and minimum requirements with 10 fielders on each team. • Way to much to keep track of – I hope you enjoy the rosters! rudyb
Yeah, it's great to have 300+ pages of information about updating rosters when us peasants can't even find the link to the xbox version. But don't help us, just keep chatting about CAPs, models.big, and rotations. We'll eventually find them burried away under a matress.
