bbythepier
McCarroll- your site is a 100 times better than what i was using, but here's the site that i posted on this thread earlier (just for cross-reference). just one question on your "hardball dollars" site (not that it's wrong, i just don't understand). some major league players are signed for $0.08 = $80,000. i thought the league minimum was $320K. are these minor league contracts? do you have any insight? http://www.mlb4u.com/teampages.html
McCarroll21
I don't know much about the money aspect of baseball... like all the league minimums and certain situations with contracts and all that jazz but on the site it says this... Mar 01, 2005 - Welcome! This site is going to pick up from where Dugout Dollars blog has left off. It hasn't been updated since July 11, 2004 and thus is missing quite a bit of data. Using the numbers from that site and the signings from the off season, I have provided projected payrolls. At this point in the offseason, not all the players have signed yet but for the most part, the numbers provide a decent picture of the story. For information on how the numbers have listed as they are, I suggest reading the FAQ at Dugout Dollars. A FAQ on this site will be posted when all the payrolls are up. The big change from last season is that the minimum salary is now $316,000 and a minor league player on the 40 man roster has a minimum salary of $52,600 as per the collective bargaining agreement. So he knows that as well... But he just started the site on March 1st as best I can tell so I'd say give him time to go back through and get all the corrections made and such... Caino
(i will make any pitchers' tweaks to my rosters, as suggested.) it wasnt posted as something that everyone should do. i used one source to make my edits. i dont mind disagreements as i never thought i was 100% correct. you just did it in a way that I dont think you should have done. bbythepier
McCarroll- makes perfect sense now. Thanks. Ca$ino- what more can i say? Respectfully, I agree to disagree with your suggestions (even some of llcmac-hypnoxXx's data). No harm, no foul. it's great we all have of a copy of MVPedit for ourselves. as for your quote of mine, that was intended for the developer's of this thread, per THEIR request, not you. sorry for the misunderstanding. thanks again, McCarroll. HypnoxXx
Hypno are you inputting the Reds info I sent? Or if not did you forward it onto Illmac? llcmac has his hands on the rosters at the moment, as I'm out of town until Wednesday. I did forward him the document you sent me, though. If he doesnt get around to it, I will when I get back home.
rufusdabum
have you noticed that lou merloni has the face of an old, old man?
illmatic
I just downloaded roster 3.5 for xbox and it's great. But one thing I noticed is that Robinson Cano is white in the game. I don't know if it's just some kind of error with my game or if you just didn't know what race he is. But face 13 would probably work well for him if you want to change it in the next update. And Bret Boone's stance looks like his too. Just some suggestions for the next update. Thanks for all the hard work so far guys :D
Jabroni
have you noticed that lou merloni has the face of an old, old man? Yep, it looks like Lou Merloni of the Angels has the face of Giants' manager Felipe Alou. It's pretty funny though.

I'm glad you like the site. If a player is in the major leagues on the 25 man roster, he has to be paid a minimum of $316k which is up from last year. If the player is on the 40 man roster but not in the majors, he has to be paid a minimum of $52,600. Some players have split contracts. They get paid one amount if in minors and another if they are in the majors. Who is the player who pointed out as making $80k?
Jabroni
The Tigers just released CF Alex Sanchez today. I'm sure a team will pick him up pretty quickly. EASPORTSGUY
Maybe this is a chance for HIGGY to make a comeback! He's good at the leadoff spot not to mention he has the best arm! I sure hope TRAM gives him a shot!

I sure hope TRAM gives him a shot! If you were talking 1999 i might beleive you but higginson cant do anything now since injuries have pretty much ravaged his career. Monroe is likely to get the first crack at center because he is a superior hitter, has a stronger arm and im assuming he has better range than higginson, because well higginson just sucks now. While we are being extremely optimistic maybe inge moves to center and then DEAN PALMER gets the third base job. But, no now that i think of it higginson actually has a better shot than palmer. bbythepier
thanks for the response russells. your boy McCarroll straightened me out last night on the 40 man roster minmum. i didn't go thru every roster, so i don't know how many "major league" players might be getting underpaid on your site (i do assume that is your site). one guy that stood out was Robb Quinlan of the Angels who is a lock to make the roster ("Quinlan is being pressed into a possible starting role again with the loss of third baseman Dallas McPherson" taken from http://losangeles.angels.mlb.com/NASApp/ml...p&c_id=ana) but i understand every new thing is a work in progress and keep up the GREAT work. some in this project are worried about getting the backup catcher for Tampa's AA team stats, features, and ratings right. some, like myself, are much more concerned with getting major league caliber players correct, even down to how much they make. your site will help. Andruw25
Just ordered Baseball America's Prospect Handbook, but here's another I thought might be useful...especially pertaining to what pitchers throw. Scouting Notebook : Your Advanced Scout for 2005 (Sporting News STATS Major League Scouting Notebook) I buddy of mine got this recently and I decided to order it as well because of their breakdowns of pitchers stuff, major leaguers and top prospects as well. If no one is using this book already, I'd be happy to cross reference pitching inquiries or anything else as it seems to be a pretty deep guide. Just thought another viewpoint would be valuable since it's a difficult topic to address. Should be getting it in 5 or so days...Amazon is usually pretty quick. How is the Neyer/James pitching book in terms of what current pitchers throw? I know it is largely historical, so I'm curious if that could be another resource. theFATTY
I like it, its got some good info. The only bad part is, most of the info you can get from ESPN.com's scouting profiles. Its done by the same people. I was dissapointed about that, and there isn't a lot of information about the minors. But it has projected stats for the upcoming year and interesting league leaders in stats. I found out that Ryan Freel actually has the 2nd highest NL OBP when leading off. Haha, or how many defensive substitutions Terry Francona makes on average compared to other AL managers...from what I've heard. Nothing wrong with that either! The Prospect Handbook just got shipped so I'm sure that will pick up the slack on minor league pitchers and what they throw.
MetsDrummer
Here are some Mets stances (these are very accurate, I'm a huge Mets fan and I'm confident that these all look the best) Wright - Magglio Reyes - Bernie Piazza - Generic 1 (the Piazza stance is AWFUL) Valent - Larry Walker Diaz - Manny Ramirez Cameron - Beltre (not perfect, but it's the best they have) J. Phillips - this one is hard, it's close between Guerrero, Sheff, and Everett. J Phill does the bat thing that they do, but none of them look exactly like him. I think I'm going to use Sheffield Hope you find this useful
