Are the face IDs and Portrait IDs already assigned to the players in the game?

i.e. If I were to start a dynasty and add in portraits and faces, will they show up in game later in the season?

the Sporting News STATS Major League Scouting Notebook is OK, but a better guide, according to your boy Theo Epstein and my boy Billy Beane, is the BP Baseball Prospectus. check it out at your bookstore. don't take it from me, but instead the young GM's with the "million dollar" pens. By the way, i have all three on my coffee table.

the cyberface and potrait id's are already assigned, but can be changed if necessary (see Terminator's Quantrill face which asks you to change the id)

the dynasty info that you save only keeps a players attributes like ratings, stats, and these id #'s within this .sav file in My Documents/MVP. these id #'s will still "look at" the modified model.big and portrait.big files. so you can change cybers and portraits mid-dynasty because only these id #'s are encapsulated in the .sav file, but not attributes such as a new llcmac-HypnoxXx updated roster. (unless someone can create a .sav reader like last year)

I was thinking about that one too...just needed another book really in addition to the handbook to get free shipping! My saber buddy has an online subscription to Prospectus, so I use that occasionally. Great projections with all those equations though. They're pretty big on Andy Marte, rated him # 1 on their prospect list and made some pretty favorable comparisons with all those line graphs. Looking forward to him and Francoeur to get edited in a future version.

That is a good book. I didn't want to burn 20 bucks on it. I went to B&N and read the whole Reds section and decided to leave it. I have to say I was dissapointed on the Scouting notebook was exactly what ESPN.com has.

Thats what I thought i wasn't sure if the id's were assigned or if i would have to assign them so that as the mods come out i can update my boys of summer. Thanks for the info.

I had that book but I dont like it at all. For pitchers, they dont have what pitches they throw and their velocity. The one I like are Baseball America for prospects and The 2005 Scouting Notebook (Sporting News) for Major Leaguers.

How deep does the BA go for prospects? Is it just a paragraph for each prospect, and only a top few prospects for each team? I want one with alot of minor leaguers in it with alot of info. What they throw and what they could be. I mean in the Baseball Prospectus they wrote all about Cory Lidle in the Josh Hancock part.

Top 30 prospects for each team, a 2008 projected lineup, and a good paragraph of each prospect. For pitchers, they told which pitch they throw and the velocity. Is a great book.

Wow man thats nice. How much it set you back?

I just got it for 17 bucks on amazon. It's sixteen and change at B&N, not including shipping for either. The Handbook is a MUST...used it last year to run my dynasty and it was a blast. Everything from the best changeup in the system to the best outfield arm is included for every team. Very comprehensive.

For the Reds Ryan Wagner is in the lead for the bullpen spot. So he should be in the MLB spot.

Anderson Machado's speed needs to be upped. 55 is way to low. Here are his stats:

http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/and...n_machado.shtml

Rob Stratton has the Top 100 Prospect, which he isn't.

Acevado should be moved into AAA.

Hancock needs to be moved up to the Majors. He is out of options and most likely won't be chanced through waiver. He will be in the pen

The rotation is to be as follows:

Wilson

Milton

Ortiz

Harang

Claussen

Pretty much all of that is guaranteed, except for Claussen. But Hancock, Robertson shoudn't get in over him.

Luke Hudson will most likely be in the bullpen or starting in AAA now. I would say starting in AAA, he was injured.

Gookie Dawkins Tigers

Gookie Dawkins was traded to the Cubs last season...

http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...MLB&id=6339

Latest News Jun. 1, 2004 - 2:05 pm et

Cubs acquired infielder Gookie Dawkins and a player to be named from the Royals for infielder Damian Jackson.

Dawkinsm who was batting just .223/.267/.349 for Triple-A Omaha, will report to Iowa. He's still just 25, but at this point, it doesn't even look like he's going to have a career as a utilityman.

The Reds just played the Tigers this week and Gookie was with him. I remember because Marc Lancaster wrote about it, Gookie is a former Reds player. Let me dig it up.

http://frontier.cincinnati.com/blogs/spring/

The Tigers brought former "heir apparent to Barry Larkin" Gookie Dawkins up from their minor-league camp for today's game(s). His return to Ed Smith Stadium didn't go so well. Down 3-2, the Reds loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth and Alan Trammell went to the bullpen for Chris Spurling. Miley countered by taking down Bobby Estalella in favor of Jacob Cruz, who hit a hard grounder to short. Gookie booted it into center field, his second error in as many innings, allowing two runs to score for a 4-3 Reds victory.

Great Roster

can i make a suggestion.

for your roster download and installation.

why dont you make one roster save file and people can....

Save it to there MVP Baseball 2005 saves folder (MyDocuments/MVP Baseball 2005). Note that this is not your main MVP Baseball program folder which contains the data files for the game, but a user folder set. To load the roster you must start the game and load the roster from the Manage Rosters screen.

this way you dont have to make a backup of the database folder and put it back when there a new EA Patch out.

this way you keep the original roster too.

I saw this on an mvplanet board:

"I have a small request for your total minor league rosters. If it is not too much troble could you please edit the fake 18-19 year old players attributes down to realistic numbers who are always thrown into free agency when starting a franchise? The only reason I ask this favor is because to me it is very unrealistic to have 18-19 year old guys who are better than all the other players in free agency. Not only that, but if they were that good then they would have entered the draft or been picked up already. OH YEAH AND LETS ALSO NOT FORGET THEY'RE NOT REAL!!!!!! I hope this is not too much to ask but in my opinion this ruins the realism of having minor league rosters... Thank you for hearing me out..... By the way, thank you very much for all the hard work and time you guys put into these rosters. It means alot to a hardcore baseball fan like me that someone is taking the time to do this roster."

i agree with what this guy says, on the rosters there are a bunch of fake players on the fa list who have very high ratings. at the start of a season, all these guys get picked up and replace real players... can you change them to the level of a crappy singe A player so they dont affect accurate rosters?

You are doing an awesome job on the roster set.

A couple of recent updates on some of the players mentioned in your post (hope that this helps):

Peter Zoccolillo Rangers

According to Baseball America's Minor League Transactions, the Rangers released Zoccolillo earlier this year.

Hector Almonte Rockies

According to MLB.com's 2005 spring training stats, an H. Almonte has pitched for the Atlanta Braves this spring.

Alex Herrera Rockies

Accoring to MLB.com's 2005 spring training stats, an A. Herrera has pitched for the Atlanta Braves this spring.

Chad Paronto Cardinals

Accoring to MLB.com's 2005 spring training stats, C. Paronto has pitched for the Milwaukee Brewers this spring.

Carlos Feebles Royals

Correct spelling is Febles. Febles recently signed a 2 year minor league contract with Kansas City because he is expected to miss the entire 2005 season with an injury.

Chimp Ambres Red Sox

Correct spelling is Chip. I'm sure that this was just a typo.

Keep up the good work. Looking forward to your next update.

I also agree. I really like the rosters but I didnt realize all of the fake free agents. Are they taking the place of real free agents or are they just there? Is it ok to delete them?

Yes I just saw that herrera and almonte both sighned minor league deals on march 1st. I saw paronto pitch for the brew crew the other day and forgot to add that. I cant seem to find anything about zocco getting released. Also while hunting for the zocco info I saw that the rangers resigned jeff zimmerman to a minor league deal and this time MLB did not void the contract like they did 2 months earliar. So theres a few more corrections.

EDIT: Mark Guthrie was just released by the devil rays. And Pete Munro was cut by the astro's.
