The latest:

PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies acquired the left-handed-hitting outfielder they had been searching for late Saturday night, netting Dave Dellucci and cash from the Rangers for pitcher Robinson Tejeda and outfielder Jake Blalock.

Philadelphia will have to make a roster move once Dellucci arrives, which the team hopes will be sometime on Sunday. The Phillies expect him in town by Monday's regular-season opener against the Cardinals.

Dellucci, 32, spent the past two seasons with Texas, recording career highs in homers (29), games played (128), RBIs (65) and hits (109) in 2005. He was set to be the Rangers' starting left fielder this season. Dellucci offers the Phillies a lefty power option off the bench who can play all three outfield positions.

The teams had been discussing a swap for the past week, but the Rangers' interest in pitching intensified because of Adam Eaton's finger injury. Philadelphia optioned Tejeda to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.

This move doesn't bode well for Chris Coste, who came close to securing the final roster spot by hitting .463 in the spring, or for Tomas Perez, who appeared to beat out Coste. One of them could be on the Opening Day roster if David Bell starts the season on the disabled list.

Here are some of the other noteable transactions from around baseball:

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Veteran Salmon makes roster: Tim Salmon said he had a strong feeling at least a few days before the Angels announced their Opening Day roster that he would be one of the 25 players heading to Seattle for the opener. After Saturday's Freeway Series game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, it was made official.

The Angels' career leader in home runs with 290, Salmon underwent surgery on his left shoulder and his left knee following the 2004 season, and as a result, missed all of last year. He rehabilitated throughout the winter at his Scottsdale, Ariz. home and came to Spring Training as a non-roster invitee.

One notable player not on the 25-man roster for Opening Day is third baseman Dallas McPherson, who was optioned to Triple-A.

A's send Kielty to Triple-A: Though the Friday trade of out-of-options outfielder Freddie Bynum appeared to lock the roster down, essentially assuring that on-the-trading-block outfielder Bobby Kielty would be on the team for the time being, the inclement weather forecast for the next few days forced a temporary change in thinking.

Kielty was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento after Saturday's game, opening a spot on the roster for recently acquired left-hander Brad Halsey.

Blue Jays make moves, grab Phillips: The Blue Jays purchased the contracts of catcher Jason Phillips and left-hander Brian Tallet, a pair of non-roster invitees to Spring Training. Room was made on the 40-man roster for Phillips when the Mariners claimed catcher Guillermo Quiroz off waivers. In order to place Tallet on the 40-man roster, though, Toronto designated reliever Vince Perkins for assignment.

Baldelli headed for DL; Rays makes cuts: Rocco Baldelli won't be in the Rays' Opening Day lineup and the team trimmed its roster to 25 Saturday, thereby answering questions about who would win several spring battles for roster spots.

Baldelli was placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 24 with a strained left hamstring. Catcher Kevin Cash and pitcher Edwin Jackson was optioned to Triple-A Durham.

Other winners included right-handers Jason Childers and Ruddy Lugo, who were selected from Durham. Both players will pitch out of the bullpen. Infielders Russell Branyan and Greg Norton were reassigned to Minor League camp.

Hudson snags roster spot for Royals: Luke Hudson, signed to a Minor League contract on March 13, mere days after the right-hander had been released by the Reds, was awarded with one of the two open spots in the bullpen. The Royals must clear a spot on the 40-man roster for the right-hander since he is in camp as a non-roster invitee.

Seattle trims roster; Lawton to be restricted: The Mariners on Saturday optioned right-hander Emiliano Fruto and catcher Rene Rivera to Triple-A Tacoma. They also selected the contract of infielder Roberto Petagine from Triple-A Tacoma and placed outfielder Chris Snelling on the 15-day disabled list to recover from knee surgery. Marcos Carvajal was designated for assignment.

On April 2, outfielder Matt Lawton will be placed on the restricted list by Major League Baseball and the Mariners will select the contract of RHP Jeff Harris from Triple-A Tacoma to fill his spot.

Injury could mean DL for Tigers Jones: Pitcher Todd Jones suffered a pulled hamstring on Saturday and is likely headed to the disabled list.

The 37-year-old right-hander had battled soreness in his left hamstring since Monday's game against Houston, but said he thought he'd just overextended a muscle. He rested two days and felt fine through a scoreless inning Thursday. On Saturday, Jones said he got loose and again said he felt fine.

Franklyn German was the final player cut from the Tigers roster, which was effectively finalized Friday. Detroit will purchase the contracts of Ramon Santiago and Bobby Seay on Saturday to add them to the 25-man roster, then wait until Opening Day to see if German and catcher Rob Bowen clear waivers.

The Tigers claimed Bowen off waivers from the Twins on Wednesday with the intent of designating him for assignment to add catching depth at Toledo and insurance in case either Ivan Rodriguez or Vance Wilson is injured this season.

Twins' 25-man roster appears set: There still hasn't been an official announcement, but the Twins appear to have set their 25-man roster.

The Twins made their final two cuts on Saturday as they optioned infielder Terry Tiffee to Triple-A Rochester and reassigned outfielder Jason Tyner to Minor League camp. Though there are still 26 players in camp, the Twins are planning to keep Ruben Sierra at extended Spring Training until his strained right thigh heals.

Defending champs make final roster moves: As expected, the White Sox placed reliever Dustin Hermanson on the 15-day disabled list because of lower back inflammation and purchased the contract of lefty reliever Boone Logan. The 22-year-old Logan allowed only five hits and one run in 13 innings (0.69 ERA) of work this spring.

Nieves realizes dream, makes Yanks: After spending nine consecutive Opening Days in the Minor Leagues, 28-year-old Yankees catcher Wil Nieves finally will get to experience one at the big-league level.

The Opening Day roster was set after Saturday's game, pending word from pitcher Scott Proctor on the family illness that has kept him at his Florida home the past few days.

Pitchers Aaron Small and Octavio Dotel were placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 24, and Carl Pavano went on the DL, retroactive to March 28.

Also, the team released infielder Luis A. Garcia and cut pitchers Matt Smith, Matt Childers, Jose Veras and Ramiro Mendoza, catcher Omir Santos, and infielders Russ Johnson, Damian Rolls and Felix Escalona.

The deadline for setting the 25-man roster is midnight ET on Saturday, and general manager Brian Cashman said the organization was waiting to hear from Proctor or his agent before deciding whether to possibly put Proctor on the bereavement list and replace him with another pitcher.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Astros finalize roster: Pitchers Taylor Buchholz and Fernando Nieve and catcher Eric Munson have all made the Astros' Opening Day roster. Munson's contract was purchased from Triple-A Round Rock, while infielder Kevin Orie was reassigned to Minor League camp.

Jeff Bagwell begins the year on the 15-day disabled list. The 40-man roster currently stands at 38.

Braves health updates: The Braves will begin the season with Macay McBride, John Foster, Kelly Johnson and Mike Hampton on the disabled list. Hampton will miss the year while rehabbing from Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery and Foster, who will attempt to begin throwing again on Wednesday, is hoping to avoid that same surgical procedure.

Johnson's right elbow hasn't allowed him to throw for the past two weeks, and it might be another two weeks before he's even cleared to throw again.

Hancock earns Cardinals final bullpen spot: On Friday, manager Tony La Russa and pitching coach Dave Duncan solidified their bullpen by reassigning Alan Benes and Brian Falkenborg to Minor League camp, and retaining non-roster pitcher Josh Hancock.

Hancock, a right-hander, pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Friday, leaving him with two earned runs in 10 Spring Training innings. Hancock, who turns 28 on April 11, was signed as a Minor League free agent on Feb. 21.

D-Backs set roster, or do they? The Diamondbacks set their 25-man roster on Saturday, but reading between the lines, it certainly wasn't set in stone.

The club announced that Casey Daigle had been assigned to Minor League camp, meaning that Greg Aquino won the final spot in the bullpen. Infielder Jerry Gil was assigned to Minor League camp, meaning that Andy Green, who was the Pacific Coast League's Most Valuable Player last year, won one of the two backup infielder spots.

The only other question that remained with the roster was what the club would do with catcher Koyie Hill, who was out of Minor League options. The 25-man roster the Diamondbacks planned to submit to Major League Baseball by the 10 p.m. MT deadline included Hill. Given that veteran lefty Terry Mulholland, a non-roster invitee, was not on that version of the roster, it stands to reason that what the Diamondbacks are likely to do is designate Hill for assignment on Sunday and purchase Mulholland's contract. That would give Arizona a maximum of 10 days to either release, trade or outright Hill to Triple-A.

In the final two roster moves, as expected the club assigned outfielder Carlos Quentin to Minor League camp and decided to put reliever Brandon Medders on the disabled list retroactive to March 24, which means he can be activated as soon as April 8.

Dodgers eye roster deadline: The Dodgers would not discuss the 25-man roster they would submit by Saturday night's 9 p.m. PT deadline, but outfielder Cody Ross said he was told he would be on it.

That does not necessarily mean Ross, who is out of options, would be on the Opening Day roster Monday, because changes can be made.

Veteran pitcher Aaron Sele accepted an assignment to Triple-A Las Vegas, at least temporarily.

Sele and general manager Ned Colletti said details had not been worked out on how long Sele was willing to wait for a Major League promotion or whether he would be granted free agency if another club was willing to give him a Major League job.

Giants place Benitez on disabled list: The Giants' final roster moves Saturday included a surprise that leaves them with an uncertain bullpen situation for at least the first two weeks of the regular season.

Closer Armando Benitez was placed on the 15-day disabled list with left knee bursitis, a decision that was cemented after the 34-year-old right-hander gave up four runs in the eighth inning of the Giants' 14-3 exhibition loss to Oakland at McAfee Coliseum.

The Giants also made veteran catcher Todd Greene's addition to the Major League roster official Saturday by purchasing his contract.

Their other transactions were as follows: Right-hander Kevin Correia, outfielder Todd Linden and catcher Eliezer Alfonzo were optioned to Triple-A Fresno; infielder Angel Chavez was designated for assignment; and infielder Kevin Frandsen and outfielder Abraham Nunez were reassigned to Minor League camp.

Cameron to DL as Padres roster is set: Pitchers Scott Cassidy and Brian Sweeney have forged spots on the Padres' 25-man Opening Day roster, along with outfielder Ben Johnson.

Meanwhile, center fielder Mike Cameron (strained left oblique) joins Ryan Klesko (strained left shoulder) and Doug Brocail (coronary angioplasty) on the disabled list.

While the contract of Sweeney was purchased from Triple-A Portland, pitcher Eric Junge, third baseman Justin Leone and outfielder Eric Valent were reassigned and are expected to play for the Pacific Coast League Beavers.

LaRue headed to DL; Reds set roster: The Reds announced Saturday that Jason LaRue was placed on the 15-day disabled list for just the third time in his career. LaRue, the longest tenured Reds player, had athroscopic surgery to repair his right knee on Monday, and the move is retroactive to March 26.

A minor injury to switch-hitting outfielder, Quinton McCracken, and a more serious injury to Dewayne Wise left the Reds in need of a fourth outfielder. The spare outfield spot will be filled by Chris Denorfia. He had been optioned to Louisville on March 24. McCracken, who has missed the latter half of the exhibition schedule with a foot injury, was reassigned to Minor League camp with Jacob Cruz, Brian Buchanan and Frank Menechino. The Reds also informed Dane Sardinha that he will be designated for assignment

Thanks to everyone for helping out =)

I don't want any other lineups posted right know. Stick to posting transactions, demotions etc.

I need CAP's for:

Mike Holtz (BOS)

Boone Logan (CWS)

Mark Quinn (CWS)

Rudy Gomez (KC)

I'm fairly sure Rudy Gomez doesn't play for the Royals anymore. His name hasn't been in any of the box scores I've seen over the spring.

The Omaha Royals have an influx of infielders right now, and even if he were still hanging around somewhere, he's definitely not needed.

Thanks for pointing that out. Don't mind Gomez on the list then but I do need CAP's for the other players.

I think that's last years rosters. I'm not sure that they've updated their site yet. Jose Rosado is still on that roster. He's not even in baseball anymore.

Totte,

Are you looking to get out V6.0 before tonight's game, or are we considering tomorrow opening day. Keep up the great work.

Thanks.

I read an article on the web stating that he throws a wicked curveball too.

Do you know the velocity of his pitches? I've googled but can't seem to find any reports on him.

fastball is in the 89-92, he has control problems at times and avg movement on his pitches...all I can find for now

Boone Logan

Fastball -- 87-90 MPH with late sinking movement

Slider -- Around 80.

Curveball -- 73-77 MPH. It's nasty

Delivery:

Logan features what I would describe as a 7/8ths delivery. He doesn't have the long whip-like motion that you see from most side-armers, but he's not your typical 3/4ers delivery either. He starts with the ball held high, almost like Keith Foulke, and continues the first part of his motion in compact fashion. The second half of his delivery is reminiscent of most side-armers. The notable exception is you often see side-armers 'get on the side' of their pitches. Logan has a visible wrist-**** that allows him to stay on top of the ball, theoretically giving his pitches more movement.
