RedSoxFox7
Totte I think Gabe Kapler should be made a FA, there appears to be no ETA on his return. MLB.com -2/21- Kapler, who was released by the Red Sox in November and then re-signed to a Minor League contract a few weeks ago, is not eligible to play in a game for Boston until May 15. Will he be able to play by then? Kapler isn't ready to make such predictions. If that's the case, I wouldn't say he should be a free agent. He's still under contractual obligation to the Red Sox right now. And given his low price tag, big upside for the price, and reputation within the club and the city of Boston, I can't see them cutting him until he's got some playing time under his belt. alcoholicstepfather
Totte, I was playing against the Cardinal and noticed that Aaron Miles's face was messed up. It looked like his face was turned to the side. I went into MVPEdit and changed the 04 Face to yes and that fixed the problem. You might want to look into that for the next release. RedSoxFox7
A couple things I've noticed from just briefly playing w/ UR 6.3. They may have already been covered, but with almost 460 pages, I'm not sure I'd ever find the posts that I'm repeating. The first thing is Kevin Youkilis. 75 fielding, 60 range, 70 throwing strength and accuracy. Those are all terrible numbers. I also noticed that he's listed as a third baseman with first base as his secondary position. First of all, I think he should be listed as 1B primary since that is what he's going to be this year. For anyone that's watched him play thus far, he's actually quite the first baseman, and with the stretches he's made, you'd think he was a gymnast on the side. Secondly, his fielding stats should be nowhere near as bad as they are. As a third baseman last year, Youk didn't play enough to be "qualified" for ESPN's rankings, but he's played 92 games there in his career. In 52 games between 05 and thus far 06 he hasn't made ONE error. That's in 23 games at first, 27 games at third and 2 games at second. In his 118 career games, he's got a fielding percentage of .985. That's .971 at third (good enough to tie for fourth in MLB last season), 1.000 at first and 1.000 at second. His zone rating, as weighted by games at each position is a career .801. That's .787 at third, .839 at first, and 1.000 at second. His career zone rating at third is on par with what Billy Mueller and Mike Lowell put up last season (struck me as odd that that trio matched up so closely). Lowell has a 70 for range, Mueller has an 85. Youk definitely needs to come up from his 60, and I think Lowell should probably be a little higher than 70. In any case, the three of them should be close. His career zone rating at first would've put him near the bottom of first baseman last season (think Konerko or LaRoche). His current zone rating for this season puts him slightly above Adrian Gonzalez, and a little below Travis Lee. There aren't any hard statistics to evaluate his throwing and accuracy, but at the very least, his range should be somewhere around 80 (based on comparisons with Mueller, Lowell, Gonzalez and Lee), maybe higher, and his fielding ability should be even higher. OK, now that Youk is out of the way, on to Trot Nixon. I'm not sure MVP puts the cutoff to put the little shoe icon next to a guy, but I'm thinking Trot should be bumped down a couple points. When I think of people deserving of that icon to indicate a fast guy, Trot certainly isn't one of the guys I think of. Finally, and I know I'm going to catch flack for this as it being strictly an anti-Yankees thing, but A-Rod's range rating is ENTIRELY too high. The man is a tremendous fielder, almost never makes an error when fielding or throwing. HOWEVER, since moving to third base, his zone rating has been pathetic. I personally thing ZR is the best quick and easy number for a guy's range, but if you don't like that as much, his range factor numbers have been pretty bad as well. 2006 ZR: .754, 19th out of 27 3B currently qualified 2005 ZR: .735, second only to Mark Teahen of the Royals for worst in all of baseball. 2004 ZR: .786, not nearly as bad, good for 6th in all of baseball 2006 RF: 3.12, 9th, out of 27 3B currently qualfied 2005 RF: 2.62, 3rd only to Joe Randa (by .01) and Aramis Ramirez for worst in all of baseball. 2004 RF: 2.39, Tied for second to last in all of baseball with Morgan Ensberg, with only Aramis Ramirez being worse. ARod's fielding has been considerably better, standing around 5th the past 2 years and thus far this year. I don't know if you've got a formula for this or something, but A-Rod's range is drastically overrated.
Totte
Thanks RedSoxFox7, I'll be sure to take a deep look at this. All I can say for now is that I've been meaning to increase the ratings for Youkilis.
Totte
another thing is that Jeff Bailey of the Pawtucket Red Sox is listed as a Infielder on their website. In the game he is a catcher and a DH. Could you change his 2nd position to INF please. I'll keep him the way he is 'cause he's a Catcher and has been DH'ing in Spring Training. Also, Mark.B explained it well... kgbaseball
I always get pitchers that have fastball velocity of 36, but that's after creating them and moving them to their correct team. For some reason, any pitching adjustments I make to a created player are erased after moving them to a team. Any fixes for that? The Moylan example just reminded me of that.
