abacus-

I can buy Jim Rushford playing in Scranton (AAA)

http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/players/playerpage/225434

but Trent Pratt will be playing in Reading (AA). He hasn't played above A ball.

http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/players/playerpage/479068

There were a whopping 14 fakes on Scranton. That's 12 we've come up with on this page. I'm looking as we speak...

Sorry about pratt I didnt look much into him just kinda assumed hed be in triple A since he will be 26 this year. So that means you need 2 more guys to fill out Scranton?

I cant check the rosters now but how about this guy does he help fill the void?

Edwin MORENO • Starting Pitcher • Philadelphia Phillies

Height: 6'1' • Weight: 170 • DOB: 7/30/1980 • Age: 24 • College:

Bats: Right • Throws: Right

How Aquired: Phillies claimed RHP Edwin Moreno off waivers from the Rangers.

Details/Impact: Moreno should have been removed from the Rangers' 40-man roster before Ben Kozlowski or Colby Lewis were sent through waivers earlier this winter. It doesn't really matter now since all three are gone. Moreno, 24, has a good slider and changeup to complement an adequate fastball. He might be a future middle reliever.

EDIT: thought i posted that a few hours ago but it was still in the quick reply box when I got back to the computer.

last Scranton "real"

I would project one of these 1B to make the club based on their stats at reading last year taken from:http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/Stats/stats_AAeast_rea.shtml

Kurt Keene (2004)- 111 G, .281, 12 HR, 41 RBI

http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/players/playerpage/490055

or

Kevin Barker (2004)- 112G, .286, 18 HR , 58 RBI but 405 AB and 95 K

http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/players/playerpage/21488

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6316

Probably Keene (I don't even know if Barker still plays). Anyway, none will ever see the bigs with Howard in their way

I have 5 fakes left on Charlotte to replace...Any AAA White Sox you could suggest for me?

#16 - Tetsu Yofu, RHP AAA - Starting Pitcher - Hory ID#6331

Born: June 26, 1973

Height: 6-0

Weight: 185

Bats: Right

Throws: Right

Also Brian Anderson will be in AAA this year not AA

Hyp or llc or members,

My last note from Hyp suggests there are 8 fakes on Syracuse. All of the rosters on AAA's for teams in the states seem to be a year old. Yet, after going thru 5-6 players, I think Syracuse's roster is up to date. Thus the Syracuse AAA team can be created directly from the roster at this site (tell me if I'm wrong). Man, I hope MikeB and other Jay fans don't snap at me for being an idiot.

The Columbus Clippers had five fakes as of 3.5. (Brewer, Eaton, Farmer, Fox, Williams). I believe you can do the same as w/ Syracuse. The roster on their site seems up-to-date and thus can be used to create the team. (Does anyone know MarkB? Could we offer a credit in order to "piggyack" his info, all the way down to A. He has more updates on the Yanks org than the 11 o'clock news. He must have it down to each player's eye color.)

The HLS (HypnoxXx-Llcmac-Snash) Ulimate Rosters? Whatever you want boss. Just keep us in the know.

Baseballif- welcome to the party. The Barker tidbit, sweet inaugural post. I like the "break in slowly" strategy. Now you can scan the thread and help fill the holes. BTW, what gives with Angelos' wallet. No money in the offseason for pitching. Ponson's your ace? Can you say 4th place?

How about naming it

MVP World Class Rosters

MVP Extended Rosters

I personally think it should be named

Dedicated MVP 2005 Rosters

or what about major and minor league baseball

Heck we could make our own game and name it

Minor League Baseball 2005

Hey guys you have did professional work since day one and take it from someone that knows alot about the time and effort making rosters. So I think if your going to put your name on something like this you should have a classy professional name.

One you can use from year to year cause I hope this is just the beginning that this goes on for the next few years,Theres been alot of effort and time put into these, along with heart and dedication. These rosters show real CLASS and PATIENCE

bby - thanks for the welcome, and you are right, I am more of a sit in the wings and only post when it is something I have experience with.

And on Angelos - he's extremely cheap - I know it doesn't help the club at all - but most pitchers got overpaid this offseason. I am used to the O's being in 3rd or 4th anyway, so what is another year...haha (I am optimistic on the other hand that Ray Miller can do some good things with these young pitchers - which he did in the second half of last season. For some odd reason there are analysts saying that the O's will be within a couple games of the Yanks for the wild card spot at the end of the year - I would like to believe that...but won't get my hopes up)

i think we should have single A rosters.. I want guys like Kurt Suziki and Landon Powell (though hes out for the year) on my rosters.

I'd like to have guys like Suzuki too. They may be in A but I think when we get to AA in these rosters it will be filled with the guys remaining in the organization that have the best shot at the big leagues. Not necessarily the exact AA team. But I really don't know what hyp and llmac are thinking but I think that'd be the best way to go... or make AA the exact roster (as close as you can) and just create some of the elite prospects in each organization that are still in A ball. Suzuki is supposed to be the best catching prospect in baseball (those that haven't already reached the majors so that excludes Mauer) now that the A's have moved Barton to 1B.

To help get minor leaguers you can use this site:

http://topprospectalert.com

It has the top 20 catching, top 100 infield, and top 100 outfield prospects that haven't already reached the majors for good. I think they're adding pitching soon, and they have a photo gallery for some prospects if you need more help with faces and skin tone and such.

I am going to start working on the Reds rosters again. I am using that Houston Chronicle site some.

Anybody know of any other sites that could have which players will land on which minor league level?

All due respect, but I'm stepping into Chitown's and Jay Mariotti's, oh I mean Jabroni's, territory

There were 5 fakes on Charlotte in 3.5 (Molina, Perez, Pineda, Rolls, Tracy). Can't go the "roster" route, because their site is old. Next check: club options.

Players not on AAA or bigs and not on Hyp's import or "created" list:

Matt Smith [optioned to AAA 3-15-05]

http://sports2.chron.com/chron/baseball/player.cgi?5221

Already played on AAA

Raul Casanova [reassigned 3-15-05]

http://sports2.chron.com/chron/baseball/player.cgi?0191

Jorge Luis Toca [reassigned 3-9-05]

http://sports2.chron.com/chron/baseball/player.cgi?2493

Projections to also play on AAA:

Ryan Meaux-P [reassigned 3-16-05]

based on AA stats 2004: 4.04 ERA, 21 GS, 140 IP , 103K

http://sports2.chron.com/chron/baseball/player.cgi?3131

Houston34-

HOOK A BROTHER UP WITH A SITE! Your Houston Chronicle site kicks @ss. Your boy Richard Justice, maybe the best baseball writer in the country, must be behind this beaut. Thanks again.

Nice work gentleman!! A fw tidbits:

1.) Geoff Geary sucks!!

2.) Can you change Ryan Madson's delivery style. He throws way over the top from a 12 to 6 motion.

Scranton “realsâ€

1) Carlos Ruiz-C

Specs & pic: http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/team/player....layer_id=434563

Scouting: “…His raw power emerged…projects as a .250 hitter capable of delivering 20 Hrs in a season. Defensively, Ruiz shows an above average arm, quick feet and strong lower half…At AAA in 2005, will be a step away from backing up Lieberthal…â€

2) Keith Bucktrot-RHP (SP)

Specs & pic: http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/NASAp...layer_id=430578

Scouting: “…can fire his fastball up to 95 mph, and it regularly reaches 90-93 w/ sinking action…his slider bites so hard it also can be considered a plus pitch. His changeup is also solid.. But poor command and mechanics…has worked to hone his command at the expense of his ability to strike out batters…He’ll move to AAA…â€

3) Eude Brito LHP (RP)

Specs & pic: http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/NASAp...layer_id=434560

Scouting: “fastball consistently hitting 95-96 mph…posted 61-28 K/BB ratio while using predominantly fastball and slurvy slider….The sinking, tailing action on his fastball should give righties fits as well, and he can show a changeup when needed.Once he hones his command-no reliever should walk a batter every other inning- Brito could be used as a 2-3 inning arm out of the bullpen. He could work out of the AAA pen or get shot at Phillies…â€

4) Juan Richardson-3B

Specs & pic: http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/NASAp...layer_id=425494

Scouting: “…Phillies are willing to accept high K totals because of his 30 HR potential…trying to get arm strength back (since torn labrum). When healthy, it’s average, just like his overall defensive play…will move to AAA in ’05…â€

5) Robinson Tejeda- RHP (SP)

Specs: http://sports2.chron.com/chron/baseball/player.cgi?4707

pic: http://berksphilliesfans.blogspot.com/2004...ns_archive.html (halfway down)

Scouting: “…improved command of his fastball, which frequently touched 94-95 mph. His curveball command varied, and the pitch was flat at times. Command and keeping his average changeup lower in the zone remain the keys to his future…moves up to AAA this season…â€

6) John Castellano-C, Util.

Specs & pic: http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/players/playerpage/292401

Scouting: “John Castellano has been the definition of a utility player this season for the Reading Phillies, as he has played games in the outfield and at catcher and third base since being promoted from Single-A Clearwater in May.â€

7) Jorge Padilla- LF

Specs & pic: http://cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/players/playerpage/284627

Scouting: two years old but best I could find: “A third-round choice in the 1998 draft, Padilla is starting to flash signs of his potential power. Despite having 55 less at-bats than 2000, he hit five more home runs while raising his walk total and decreasing his strikeouts. Last season, he homered once every 22.4 at-bats, the second-best ratio in the circuit. Padilla also made strides on the basepaths, as he nearly tripled his stolen base total from two years ago with 23 on 29 attempts.

The 22-year-old native of Puerto Rico, Padilla uses a muscular lower body to generate his power. The 6-2, 200-pounder also has good foot speed which he uses equally well on the basepaths and in the field. He has worked hard recently to become a solid outfielder and has an above-average arm.†Taken from: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/ph...es/prospect.htm

8) Danny Sandoval-2B

Pic: http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/NASAp...layer_id=435501

Stats: http://www.cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/players/playerpage/225437

9) Chris Coste-C, 1B

Specs and pic: http://sports2.chron.com/chron/baseball/player.cgi?2126

Interesting answer in interview:

Al: Your minor league offensive stats are outstanding for a catcher, why do you feel you haven't got a chance in the big leagues?

Chris: This is the million dollar question!!!!!!! My only thought is that I did not break into organized professional baseball until the age of 27. Also, I believe that playing other positions has also hurt me a little bit…this seems strange, but let me explain: I am primarily a catcher but I can also play first and third base as well as anyone. So in the past, the Indians organization decided to carry other catchers and let me play everywhere. Rather than keep the other less talented catchers on the bench, they played me elsewhere and let the other catchers catch. In addition, I have always hit well, so the idea is that since I can hit and play a lot of positions, I can’t possibly be a good defensive catcher, which is ridiculously far from the truth. I can catch the ball as well as anyone, I block the ball very well, and my arm strength is above average. And more importantly, the pitchers have always loved throwing to me on every team I have ever been on. Lastly, the Indians were always comfortable with what they had, and since they started losing in 2002, Chris Coste was the least of their worries!†taken from: http://www.albethke.blogspot.com/2004_02_0...723946989954518

10) Dan Giese-P

Specs and pic: http://sports2.chron.com/chron/baseball/player.cgi?3044

This guy is good ( I just don’t know what he throws)

“Dan Giese: The other co-Pitcher of the Year, for obvious reasons. Went 12-5 with a 2.81 ERA, and the coaching staff called on him for two or three innings pretty much every time they had a chance to win in August. Phillies were foolish to not give him a September call-up. GRADE: A-“

ALREADY CREATED

11) Franklin Perez-RHP (SP)

Specs & pic: http://sports2.chron.com/chron/baseball/player.cgi?3540

Scouting: throws hard

Need 3 more. Will continue to look, but any Philly fans out there know some “career†AAA players at Scranton. These are all the “hottiesâ€

Castellano might not even make AAA. Last season Russ Jacobson was the catcher at SWB. I would drop Castellano and add:

Chris Roberson http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/NASAp...layer_id=434562

He was pretty impressive this spring and has shown blazing speed. SWB hasn't updated it's web site so I don't know if he's at AAA.

Another possibility is Zach Segovia who missed all of last season. I think he might be a better candidate for AA-Reading at this point.

http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/NASAp...layer_id=434564

-Eude Brito should be the closer for SWB.

-I'm not sure where Jim Rushford plays since Howard plays 1B and he is a 1B

Phillyfan-

I was waiting for a PhillyFanatic to come in and straighten me out on Scranton.

But I had Roberson slated for AA because:

1) He hasn't played above A ball

2) Baseball America Prospect Handbook has him "slated for Reading".

3) Even a stud like Howard was made to "serve his time" in Reading.

I'm not the Player Development Director, but this is what went in to my "best guess". Good call on M. Hernandez.

P.S.- Watching your boy AI (and my boy CWeb) beat the hell out of the misfiring Pistons.
