HypnoxXx,

I know you can’t make player movements until they’re official, but there are 5 players that will play in AAA-Fresno that were not on 3.5 or in your ReadMe you sent me. Four have been officially optioned and one is still in camp. They won’t fit on the AAA roster as it stands, until some Non-Roster Invitees are released. I’ll let you decide what to do with them in the meantime (maybe move some to free agency). If you move them down, then the AA will have too many players when creating this team. You’ll figure it out.

Brian Burres-LHP (SP) [optioned 3-15-05]

Specs & pic: http://sanfrancisco.giants.mlb.com/NASApp/...layer_id=434638

Scouting: “…84-89 fastball and decent changeup…loopy curveball…took to new cut fastball taught to him by pitching coach….stunning success was the product of painting the outer half with his fastball and pounding hitters inside w/ his cutter.â€

Alfredo Simon-RHP (SP) [optioned 3-15-05]

Specs & pic: http://sanfrancisco.giants.mlb.com/NASApp/...layer_id=430580

Scouting: “…90-95 mph fastball…improved at throwing it to both sides of the plate…has a smooth delivery…overhauled offspeed stuff, particularly his changeup…Giants like his feel for a curveball and slider.â€

Dan Ortmeier-RF [optioned 3-15-05]

Specs: http://www.sports-wired.com/profiles/OR/tbc6498.asp

Pic: http://www.skiltech.com/Merchant4/merchant...p;Store_Code=NN

Scouting: “…His all-out style already had led to shoulder problems in the past, and three separate injuries hampered him most of last year…above-average raw pop…runs well for his size and has an above-average right-field arm when at full strength…â€

Erick Threets-LHP [optioned 3-15-05]

Specs & pic: http://sanfrancisco.giants.mlb.com/NASApp/...layer_id=408069

Scouting: “…fastball in the mid-to-upper 90’s…and a power slider…has raw stuff to become a premiere reliever…walked nearly a batter/ inning as a pro and has little feel for the strike zone…he also throws across his body, which doesn’t bode well for his health…â€

Scott Munter-RHP (RP) [still in camp]

Specs & pic: http://sanfrancisco.giants.mlb.com/NASApp/...layer_id=434639

Scouting: “…gotten in better shape and improved mechanics which have in turn helped him command his heavy sinker. One Giants official compared Munter’s sinker to a bowling ball thrown out of a helicopter. :o He throw’s it in the low 90s and reaches 95…also has a hard slider that’s an average pitch…has a shot at a big league bullpen job in spring training.â€

Another injury note: Jason Kubel should be in AAA in the rosters... will probably be there anyway though.

Twins placed outfielder Jason Kubel on the 60-day disabled list with an injured left knee.

Even though he was hurt before Lance Berkman and Rocco Baldell, Kubel is out for the season with a torn ACL suffered in the Arizona Fall League. The damage to his knee was so severe that there's no guarantee he'll show up at 100 percent next spring.

Good to have you back GForce.

One important question guys. Who are these formulas being applied to?? If it's to bring consistency to minor league ratings I think it's great. Are they being used to alter major league ratings also? Other than changing pitches and a few necessary changes, I don't think they need it.

I will do ratings for minor leaguers first and top prospects who reached the majors last year (Kotchman, Morneau, etc.)

After that, if the HLS crew wants me to put together major league ratings as well I will.

One thing I know should be tweaked for major leaguers are the take/chase/miss ratings...as was the case last year they are hopelessly screwed up. TotalMinors really became "IT" last year when I uncovered this and adjusted it. The most important change I made, I think.

By far the area i thought was the most screwed up last year as well. I think any improvement in this area should be highly sought and welcomed by this group.

Mark L Johnson traded to the cubs from brewers. Must be tough losing your job to the almighty world series mvp Pat Borders.

Mike Difelice released by marlins

Andy fox and Eric Munson released by twins.

Ughhh. The White Sox wasted a 1st Round Pick on Mark Johnson. What a bust.

Well, we also have Brandon McCarthy, Brian Anderson, and Ryan Sweeney. Many of our good prospects come from late round picks and scouting outside the U.S. But I agree, we have had some horrible luck with 1st Round picks.

Mets News:

- Optioned Jae Seo and Jeff Keppinger to AAA Norfolk

- Reasigned Orber Moreno, Scott Stewart and Scott Strickland to minor league camp.

You may see Strickland opt to not accept and try and sign elsewhere, same with Stewart, but given both their situations I highly doubt it.

I do not not know where you get your information regarding Strickland and Moreno. Expeciaqlly Strickland, he is still coming back from Tommy John surgery and knows that he is in the Mets plans, he just needs to build up some more arem strength. Similar situation for Moreno, recovering from injury and needs some more time.

Yes and also you cannot reject being reassigned to minor league camp when you are on a minor league contract and not even on the 40 man to begin with and why would he reject? theres no reason to, he choose to sign with the mets to rehab and make a comeback, and also strickland had an out in his contract that he couldve exercised before being reassigned to minor league camp but chose not to.

Wow!! What a weekend of hoops. As some guy from the Windy City would've said, Hooooly Coooow!

AF3141 & abacus-

I like the sarcasm used on the Atkins debate and ChiSox drafts. It brings a refreshing lightness to a thread full of boring scouting reports and transactions. Keep up the 'biting' comments. Even though I don't post it every time, they bring a nice 'LOL' moment.

OK, back to the matter at hand. Last week HypnoxXx and Co. threw it into high gear to remove the fakes from AAA. But that doesn't mean the "correct" guys were put on the AAA squads. Especially, the teams that didn't have many or any fakes on them. Why? Well, when HypnoxXx removed the fakes he used (I presume) the current transactions for each club up to that point. The ones w/o any fakes might have been neglected on current transactions, since no players needed to be replaced. My guess is this what HypnoxXx was referring to when he wrote:

Back to the rosters, though...What frustration! Denny Neagle thinks he's the only one who is pissed and wants to drink because he got waived, well I do too! 2 more guys I have to create for the DRays! And I'm going to get this everyday until opening day which is exactly why I'm not releasing rosters yet...Otherwise people would want an update everyday, and bby doesn't pay me enough lol...

So my next few posts are what I see needs to be done on these teams that had few or no fakes on AAA. Except, they do not include transactions that don't need any action (If a player is already on AAA, there's no need to let HypnoxXx know the player has been optioned to AAA. There's nothing to do.). Also, proposed CAPs do not include players that HypnoxXx already imported or created as of last Thursday on the ReadMe he sent me. That way I avoid giving him info on something he's already done. I hope this helps on my next few posts. Of course, if the stuff is already done, then just ignore it.

Hyp, I hope you made it thru the weekend wearing that "Illinois Sucks" shirt.

Red Sox-

Needs to be created- (Not in MLB thru A, ReadMe or fakes conversion list)

AAA-

Tim Bausher-RHP [optioned to AAA]

Specs & pic: http://sports2.chron.com/chron/baseball/player.cgi?4456

Scouting: from soxprospects.com:

"Scouting Report: Bausher has been both a starter and reliever. Has been clocked in the high 90s on the radar gun. He has an excellent slider. Has had significant injury problems in the past."

Alejandro Machado- SS,2B (acquired from Nationals) [optioned to AAA]

Specs & pic: http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/te...layer_id=425472

Scouting: “…capable of playing either middle-infield position…fluid and consistent at 2b…range to play SS…arm is adequate…switch-hitter who makes contact, draws walks bunts well, and sprays ball to all fields…speed is average…enhances it w/ intelligence on basepaths…almost no pop…â€

AA-Portland

Chris Smith- SP [optioned to AA]

Tampa Bay

AAA-Durham

Needs to be demoted from MLB-Tampa Bay

Doug Waechter-P

B.J Upton-SS

Needs to be promoted from AA-Montgomery

Jonny Gomes-LF

AA-Montgomery

Needs to be created:

Jeff Niemann-RHP (SP)

Specs & pic: http://tampabay.devilrays.mlb.com/NASApp/m...layer_id=435298

Scouting: “…took 7 months to sign a 5 yr. contract worth guaranteed $5.2 million (including $3.2 million bonus)…equipped w/ stuff of a #1 starter…92-97 mph fastball and a slider that has ranked as best breaking pitch in ’04 draft…has exceptional body control and feel for pitcher his size (6’9â€, 260 lb.)…also throws a spike curveball(?) and a changeup…â€

Chris Seddon-LHP

Specs: http://sports2.chron.com/chron/baseball/player.cgi?4983 [Could someone help w/ a photo?]

Scouting: “…isn’t overpowering…drawn comparisons to Reuter…working w/ 90-91 fastball w/ movement…keeps righties honest by pitching inside w/ his slider and by using his average changeup…doesn’t have margin for error…â€

Jose Diaz-RHP

Specs & pic: http://sports2.chron.com/chron/baseball/player.cgi?2883

Scouting: “…potentially lethal arsenal…has an explosive mid 90s fastball, as well as a promising changeup…he’s still very much a work in progress…his command isn’t much better than his hitting (.195 in 4 seasons as a C)…needs to trust his changeup more often, and his hard breaking ball is far more reliable…â€
