Here's another one of those "Tommy John" boys who never saw a minor league mound last year

Ben Diggins [optioned to A- Brevard County (Mil.)]

Specs, pic, scouting: http://www.brewerfan.net/ViewPlayerProfile.do?playerId=353

Also:

ASSETS: He's got a lively fastball that can reach into the upper 90s and he puts all of his 6-7 frame behind it. He doesn't get hurt too much by the longball and is good with the glove and great with the bat.

FLAWS: He's got some command trouble, walking too many and leaving too many pitches in hittable zones.

CAREER POTENTIAL: If he can fully recover from elbow surgery, he'll still have ace potential.

Releasing updates now would be pointless because the product would be everchanging up until opening day. With all the assignments going on releasing an update would be a waste of valuable time.

Right, I mean more for looking for incompatibility bugs and crashes... i.e. incompatible with face packs and things like that.

Just an idea. :?

What I'm going to do, since SO many face packs are being released is just leave face IDs alone. I know llcmac was working on a batch file that lets you choose between using generic faces for Bonds and Kevin Millar or using their Terminator Korea cyberfaces, but that's it. All other players will have their original face IDs as created by EA. All renamed scabs, prospects, 2004 imports and CAPs will have generic faces. We highly recommend backing up your database folder before installation and if you have installed any cyberfaces, we recommend double checking those players' face IDs within MVPEdit after you have installed our rosters.

Ben Diggins, ace potential...ummmm...no. Not even with a new arm.

GH

Probably right. It's always interesting how far these guys fall after that dreaded surgery. I remember driving across the Bay to watch this guy at Berkeley.

"In the beginning of their second-to-last conference series, the Bruins (31-22, 13-5 Pac-10) will face the country's hardest thrower – Wildcat sophomore Ben Diggins. Diggins, the top-rated professional prospect in all of collegiate baseball, enters the weekend having struck out 110 batters in 101 and a third innings pitched. He has a 9-3 record and an ERA of 3.55.

"We haven't faced anyone that throws that hard all year," UCLA head coach Gary Adams said. "And we don't have anyone that throws that hard to test us out, either."

Latest News Mar. 29, 2005 - 10:57 pm et

Mets claimed infielder Wilson Valdez off waivers from the White Sox.

Valdez entered the spring with a better chance of claiming a job than Pablo Ozuna, but his hopes faded as Ozuna hit everything in sight. The Mets won't keep him on their major league roster, so he'll be back on waivers again later this week. They'll assign him to Triple-A Norfolk if he clears next time through.

The White Sox picked up 3B/2B Trace Coquillette to replace Wilson Valdez at AAA Charlotte Knights. Coquillette even played in the White Sox @ Rockies game yesterday. He could be the infielder that you are looking for to fill AAA Charlotte's roster. That is likely where the White Sox will send him. He may even start at 2B there.

Trace Coquillette's career minor league stats:

Trace Coquillette's career MLB stats:

Trace Coquillette's picture (he's the guy on the right):

http://www.grandstandsports.com/images/17548.jpg

Full Name: Trace Coquillette

Position: First Position = 3B, Second Position = 2B

Height: 5'11"

Weight: 185

Bats: R

Throws: R

Born: June 4,1974

I'm not sure but you might be able to import Trace Coquillette from MVP 2004. He played for the AAA Pawtucket Red Sox last year. He might be in MVP 2004 but I don't remember.

We're coming down to the home stretch, gents...For the Opening Day release of The Ultimate Rosters 1.0, that is. As of now, here is where the roster stands...

The Free Agent List is now 137 (REAL) players strong. No fakes.

All 30 AAA teams are still 100% real. Accurate? No. Real? Yes. I'm constantly updating with all the minor deals and the waiver moves being made. This has meant more CAPs, more shuffling etc.

56 players have been imported into the rosters from GH's Total Minors 2004. Another 110 players have been imported from MVP 2004 or DMZ's spreadsheet.

168 CAPs have been made. This number grows daily as the need to fill a hole in AAA seems to pop up everyday.

So as of this moment, there are approximately 334 new real players since version 3.5 of llcmac and hypnoxxx's roster.

Care to continue to make my work easier? If ANYONE has a reliable site that updates often with depth charts, batting orders, rotations etc for the Majors and/or even AAA, let me know. I'd like to keep these lineups as accurate as possible.

There were a LOT more than that that I sent llcmac (a few hundred) so you guys should have plenty of others to add from TotalMinors.

HypnoxXx

have you guys been testing it, to see if the cpu teams are not going to promote the minors leaguers and demote and replace the starters in the majors right away?

you guys test it to see if cpu teams are not going to sign free agents and replace the starters in the majors right a way?

and test it to see if cpu teams are not going to release the starters in the majors?

thanks

- Ben Grieve and Mark Corey have been reassigned to Pittsburgh's minor league camp.

I predict Grieve will not accept as he shouldnt. He has a nice bat and is coming off a nice spring and people are always in need of extra power leftys off the bench.

- Pittsburgh purchased the contract of Rick White so he has made their bullpen.

- Pittsburgh acquired Dave Ross from the Dodgers for cash

- Keiichi Yabu of the Athletics has made the team but as a reliever instead of a starter.

- Bobby Estallela of the Cincinatti Reds is now a free agent

- The Braves waived Gabe White so he is a free agent.

- Mets claimed infielder Wilson Valdez from waivers from the White Sox. Expect the Mets to put him on waivers in hopes of him slipping to there minor league team in Norfolk.

- Mets acquired Benji Gil from the Mariners for cash

- Mets signed Kelly Stinnett to a minor league deal

- Andres Galarraga retired

Didn't see this one abacus or Mr. "Never Doubt Me",

Moneyball across the bay optioned Dan Meyer to Sactown.

Now that Yabba Yabba Yabu is in the pen, the 5th spot is either Etherton or Saarloos. My money is on the kid from Cal State Fullerton.(I hate USC)

Oh yeah, some slap named Jeremy Brown-C gets to play in the 100 degree heat w/ Meyer. Have fun!

Good to see you're back Houston34 (or never left) hooking up HypnoxXx with your sites. I personally use the USA Today one, but the other looks cool, too. Thata kid!

"He might get a ticket one of these days for driving under the speed limit," manager Felipe Alou cracked. "He's got a below-average changeup, speed- wise. He might have the best changeup in the league. You see guys looking for it and they're still swinging early. Every time this kid goes to the mound, I feel like we're going to win the game for sure."

I remember that quote

Lowry is my boy!!

I havent seen anything about the Braves cutting Brown or the Indians cutting Lloyd and Bragg...

As for testing to see if the CPU won't be dumb, that's virtually impossible...We'd have to downgrade top prospects and/or push up stats on guys who may get the CPU shaft and its just a big mess. I may try to tweak it a little, but I dont want to ruin ratings.

Couldn't find it either Hyp. But you will find the Giants released mop-up boy Wayne Franklin from their pen. As the Hawk would say, "Put it on the board, Yeeees!" I'm going to end up eating my words as grandaddy J. Fassero is (might) going to make the squad.

And A. Levine asked for his realease as well. Hit the road, journeyman.

Oh and I gave you a quote from Manager Yost the other night that Krynzel on the Brewers was headed to AAA no matter how well he did. Well make it official. And include J. Lehr in that bus ride to Nashville.

Speaking of SI, how 'bout the cover. Captain Caveman vs. Mr. GQ. One guy carries Noxzema in his back pocket to stay pretty, the other hasn't seen a sharp object near his head in like 5 years. Brilliant!

Yeah I found those Giants cuts on CNNSI as well as the apparent Rule V return of Shane Victorino back to the Dodgers from the Phillies...And I guess the Byung Hyun Kim for Chris Young deal is still unofficial too.
