Damon Hollins has agreed to a one-year deal worth about $1 million to play for the Yomiuri Giants of Japan.

Johnny Damon announced the formation of the Professional Baseball Video Game League and will serve as commissioner.

Yeah, it's not going to be long now before teams start insisting on a Guitar Hero clause in players contracts. The first season's roster also includes Corey Patterson and Rodrigo Lopez of the Orioles, Craig Hansen and Julian Tavarez of the Red Sox, Matt Holliday and Willy Taveras of the Rockies, Prince Fielder of the Brewers, Josh Barfield of the Indians, Derek Lowe of the Dodgers, Seth McClung of the Devil Rays, Mike Pelfrey of the Mets, Luke Hochevar of the Royals and Dallas McPherson of the Angels. "The league is bringing together two of my biggest passions -- baseball and video games -- in a way that neither baseball fans nor video gamers have seen before," Damon said in a statement.

The last tidbit was just for fun... Happy holidays, merry Chrismahanukwanzaa!

What? I'm sorry, I can't understand if you're being sarcastic or not. I was literally up for over 24 hours and my brain is fried...

Terrmel Sledge, already the favorite to start in left field against righties, may also act as the Padres' primary leadoff hitter to begin next season.

A Sledge-Jose Cruz Jr. platoon could fill the leadoff spot in front of 2B Marcus Giles, RF Brian Giles, 1B Adrian Gonzalez, CF Mike Cameron, 3B Kevin Kouzmanoff, C Josh Bard and SS Khalil Greene. Sledge says he's dropped about 15 pounds from his 2006 playing weight and is ready to do more running if the Padres would like.

White Sox agreed to terms with infielder Alex Cintron on a one-year, $1.9 million contract. He'll again serve as the backup middle infielder next season, so how much playing time he'll get will depend on Juan Uribe's performance.
