Rockies signed RHP Dave Veres to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

It'd be a great story if the 40-year-old Veres could make it back to the majors after his replacement surgery. The former Rockies' closer last pitched in the majors in 2003 and has been out of baseball entirely the last two years. There's little chance of him winning a job out of spring training.

Added, thanks :)

PHOENIX -- The D-backs and Yankees have agreed on the structure of a deal that would send Randy Johnson back to Arizona, a source with knowledge of the negotiations said.

The D-backs are likely to be granted a 72-hour window at some point Thursday to begin negotiations with Johnson on an extension that would keep the 43-year-old in Arizona through the 2008 season.

Johnson has a no-trade clause but has expressed a desire to pitch closer to his Phoenix-area home, and indications are that the two sides would be able to reach an agreement on an extension.

Once that happens, Johnson, who underwent surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back following the 2006 season, would have to undergo a physical and the D-backs would review his medical file.

The D-backs will send veteran reliever Luis Vizcaino and a pitching prospect in exchange for Johnson. It's believed that the Yankees will include some money in the deal to help Arizona defray the cost of Johnson's $16 million salary for 2007.

The pitching prospect will likely come from a group of Ross Ohlendorf, Micah Owings or Dustin Nippert. It's unknown whether the D-backs will include another lower-level Minor Leaguer in the deal.

The D-backs would rather part with Vizcaino than young reliever Brandon Medders because the 32-year-old Vizcaino is set for a raise from the $1.7 million he made last year and he is one year away from becoming a free agent.

Edit: Supposidly its finalized from what im hearing

DBacks get:

SP Randy Johnson

Yankees get:

RP Luis Vizcaino

P Russ Ohlendorf

P Steven Jackson

SS Alberto Gonzalez

The Rockies have agreed in principle on a nonguaranteed contract with free agent Alexis Gomez.

Rockies signed RHP Dave Veres to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

ndians signed RHP Keith Foulke, who had been with the Red Sox, to a one-year, $5 million contract with a mutual option for 2008.

He can earn an additional $2 million in incentives based on games finish. The mutual option for 2008 is also worth $5 million, but it could increase to mirror his 2007 pay. Foulke becomes the favorite to close for Cleveland, though he will have to compete with Joe Borowski. With Roberto Hernandez, Aaron Fultz and Rafael Betancourt locks for the pen, there are going to be just two spots open for Fernando Cabrera, Matt Miller, Jason Davis, Fausto Carmona, Tom Mastny and the rest of the team's youngsters.

Angels designated RHP Chris Bootcheck for assignment.

I don't care if you change this or not, this is for the community, but Braves' AAA player Kelly Johnson is learning 2b extensively and maybe his positions should change from first position played now is 2b, and 2nd position played is LF.

Currently it is 1st position is LF, second position is OF.

Hey can you show me a source for that? I want to see what the author wrote as motivation.

I live in MARACAIBO - VENEZUELA....and he just played 2 games in the PLAYOFFS of the Winter League..and finished of playing here to travel to JAPAN to finalize the contract there with the YOMIURI GIANTS, because the ROCKIES SOLD THE CONTRACT.

And today various sources of my country confirmed it. VERY SOON internationals sources will confirm this too.

Thanks for the heads-up but I actually changed this right after Giles signed with the Padres. I read about it at mlb.com :)

I follow the Brewers like a shadow, and I was just wondering if I can add some input as far as a couple of positions, ratings, and contracts to reflect exactly how it actually is?

Juan Uribe said he may sit out the 2007 season after a judge ordered him to make twice-monthly court appearances in a Dominican Republic shooting case.

Under Friday's order from the judge in the case, Uribe must appear in court in San Cristobal on the 15th and 30th day of every month until the case is resolved. This even though everyone has been led to believe there's no evidence tying him to the Oct. 13 shootings that left two men wounded. "I am going to decide if I am playing in the major leagues or not this year," Uribe said Friday. "It looks very ugly to be accused of something. But first I am going to resolve this and then I will go to the major leagues." If Uribe isn't going to play, the White Sox will probably go forward with Alex Cintron at shortstop and look for some veteran insurance.

Colorado Rockies sold the contract of Luis A. Gonzalez to the Yomiuri Giants...(REMOVE HIM).

Still heard nothing, but I'll let you guys know if I see anything. I'm not too sure bout this though, makes no sense for the Rockies.
