Padres signed catcher Todd Greene to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Greene was unable to find a backup job as a free agent, so he'll serve as insurance in San Diego in case either Josh Bard or Rob Bowen gets hurt in spring training.

Padres signed LHP Shawn Estes to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Estes underwent Tommy John surgery last June, so he shouldn't be a candidate for a spot in the San Diego rotation before June or July

The Jays and Lyle Overbay have reportedly agreed to a four-year, $24 million extension.

Indians designated RHP Brian Sikorski for assignment.

He was bumped from the 40-man roster to make room for Keith Foulke. He'll be invited to camp as a non-roster player if he clears waivers, but there's little chance of him making the Indians.

The Rays have discussed a minor league deal with free agent Victor Zambrano.

The Padres and Josh Bard have reportedly avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.05 million contract.

Marlins GM Larry Beinfest believes the newly acquired Alex Sanchez has a realistic chance to win the starting spot in center field this spring.

"He's had a lot of success in the big leagues," Beinfest said. "We like his speed. He can bunt. He can do a lot of things that put pressure on people." Yes, he can put an awful lot of pressure on his own team's pitching staff with some of the worst center field play you'll ever see from a guy who has plenty of range. Considering that the Marlins only had one spot at which they really needed an upgrade, Beinfest's winter will have to be considered a failure if Sanchez does in fact win a starting job.

According to his agent, Antonio Alfonseca has agreed to terms with the Phillies on a one-year deal.

Speaking of Overbay, he'll probably wear #11 next season. The Jays now have 3 remaining arbitration eligible players (Alex Rios, Reed Johnson and Scott Downs). No Jays player has actually gone through arbitration since 1997.

These rosters are the best around - when are you planning on the next version release?

As soon as I get some control over the rosters. They're a mess right now with some organisations maxed out and some under the minimum of required players. I'm hoping to have a beta out within 2 weeks :)

I don't think you got this one but the Jays got 2B/3B Trevor Lawhorn from Cincinatti as the player to be named in the Scott Schoeneweis deal near the deadline.. he'll probably start in A ball, displacing probably Jason Armstrong

I'm glad for Overbay. I signed him a couple of years ago for a pretty cheap price...like thes than $2 million. But this season in my dynasty 2009, he tore an ACL and was out for the year after like 14 games, and thats because he was a starter the year before and was now a backup (because I signed Hank Blalock in the offseason.) I think the Jays might give Boston more comp than they have in the past.

David Murphy said he has added 10-15 pounds of muscle while working with trainer Dennis Fay at the Texas Sports Medical Center this winter.

Murphy, who hit 12 homers 512 at-bats last season, would be a lot more interesting if he could add some additional power. As is, he's a fourth outfielder, and he's not going to make the Red Sox out of spring training unless someone ahead of him is traded. The Marlins have had some interest in him in the past, so it's possible that he'll be the one who is dealt.

so he needs a bit of a power boost and updated weight

Yeah, when is 8.0 coming out?

If you're talking about UR 8.1, I've managed to work my roster down to 23 errors and 22 warnings. I need to create and add a bunch of guys to solve the errors and fix the warnings. Don't know when I'll have it ready but my goal is to have a light beta out before the end of January.

Oakland has re-signed LHP Joe Kennedy to a one-year deal worth 2.8M

The Mets are close to signing Ruben Sierra to a minor league deal

Guess Kennedy is gonna get a shot at the rotation this year?

Why in earth are the Mets stockpiling their outfield? Alou, Beltran, Johnson, Newhan, Chavez and now Sierra?
