Alou, Beltran, Johnson, Newhan, Chavez and now Sierra? i don't see sierra in the outfield. he's too old, he'll probably just be a bat off the bench and maybe play a little 1B. that is if they keep him. Kennedy, who will enter camp as the favorite to act as Oakland's fifth starter, can make $100,000 each for 20 and 25 starts, and an additional $50,000 each for 27 and 30 starts. He'll be a free agent for the first time after the season. Free agent Ruben Sierra likely will sign a minor league deal with the Mets. Cubs agreed to terms with LHP Will Ohman on a two-year, $2.5 million contract. Mets agreed to terms with outfielder Endy Chavez on a one-year, $1.725 million contract. Nationals agreed to terms with outfielder Chris Snelling on a one-year, $450,000 contract. The Diamondbacks haven't confirmed it yet, but they've agreed to terms with Jose Valverde on a one-year, $2 million contract. White Sox agreed to terms with third baseman Joe Crede on a one-year, $4.94 million contract. The Dodgers could soon pick up manager Grady Little's 2008 option or rework his deal to add on an extra year or two. McClung enters spring training as perhaps the leading candidate to close for the Rays this season, but with a 6.27 career ERA, he didn't deserve much of a raise in his first year of arbitration. It's possible that he'll platoon with Casey Kotchman at first base. Angels agreed to terms with RHP Francisco Rodriguez on a one-year, $7 million contract. Yankees agreed to terms with RHP Luis Vizcaino on a one-year, $3 million contract. Nationals agreed to terms with RHP Shawn Hill, OF Tony Blanco, OF Frank Diaz, 1B Larry Broadway, 2B Bernie Castro, C Jesus Flores, RHP Brett Campbell, RHP Beltran Perez, RHP Levale Speigner, RHP Jermaine Van Buren, LHP Matt Chico and LHP Mike O'Connor on one-year contracts. Quite a change for the Nationals, as Jim Bowden usually likes to spread these signings out as much as he can. Hill and O'Connor are top candidates for spots in Washington's rotation this season. Perez and Chico could also compete for openings. Perez would probably be in the pen if he doesn't make it as a starter, while Chico would continue his development in Triple-A. Pirates agreed to terms with catcher Humberto Cota on a one-year, $537,000 contract. Whether Cota serves as Ronny Paulino's backup this year could be determined by Ryan Doumit's showing this spring. Instead of a "12-6" drop, it's more of "left slight - 11-5" drop. Velocity, movement, and control all look good. Sure I can take a look.. speaking of the Jays: Free agent David Wells swill consider signing with the Blue Jays if he can't work out a deal with the Padres. Wells' preference is to stay on the West Coast, but he's always gone where the money is during his 20-year career. Wells previously pitched with the Jays from 1987-92 and 1999-2000.
