Just imagine: "Well, they are fast speedy vets, so lets just put Tony Womack and Cristian Guzman as our 1-2 in our lineup".. Two of the quickest, easiest outs in baseball.

Haha, that's so true :)

Trot Nixon has agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal with the Indians, ESPN.com's Peter Gammons reports.

--Nixon will likely take over the starting RF job or be in a platoon with somebody (unknown at this point), and either Shin-Soo Choo or Ryan Garko will end up being demoted, with the other in the bench. I guess it's time to get off of the Choo train.

Unsatisfied with the progress he was making from a torn labrum, the Devil Rays have reportedly released right-hander Shinji Mori.

Although he's still easily the Pirates' best hitter, Jason Bay may bat fifth behind Adam LaRoche in the cleanup spot this year.

--Nobody really has a clue what the Pirates will be doing for their batting order, but it is looking like Freddy Sanchez will hit third, followed by LaRoche and Bay, an unfortunate waste of Bay's hitting ability. In addition, it looks as though Ryan Doumit will likely work this season as a backup catcher but also will spell LaRoche occasionally against lefties.

Mike Gonzalez, who was traded to the Braves, will set up for Bob Wickman.

The Tigers won't guarantee Mike Maroth a rotation spot entering spring training.

Pirates agreed to terms with RHP Shawn Chacon on a one-year, $3.825 million contract.

Jeff Samardzija is giving up football for baseball, FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal is reporting.

Samardzija, a wide receiver at Notre Dame, could have been a first-round pick in the NFL draft. However, he was also drafted by the Cubs in the fifth round last year and got a deal potentially worth $7.25 million over five years. That he'll concentrate on baseball makes him one of the Cubs' top pitching prospects.

--UPDATE:

Cubs agreed to terms with RHP Jeff Samardzija on a five-year contract with club options for 2012 and 2013. In order to get Samardzija to give up football, the Cubs have reportedly guaranteed him $8 million.

Blue Jays claimed infielder Ray Olmedo on waivers from the Reds.

--He is a better hitting option then John McDonald, and he fields better then Royce Clayton. He could be another option as starting shortstop, but at worst he will be another backup infielder in that big mess out there.

The Twins are set to sign Ramon Ortiz to a one-year, $3.1 million contract, assuming that he passes a physical.

How do you do it? :)

Could anyone hook me up with a scouting report on Samardzija?

Two questions and one might be easy to answer...

1. JJ Putz signed a new 3 year deal with the M's. What was the value of the contract?

2. Anyone have a scouting report on Jamie Romak, the Braves player that's now a Pirate?

Thanks guys

So I spent a couple of hours expressing my love for the rosters and now they're back to being up-to-date. Work and life's been crazy over the past two weeks...

Looking ahead, there are still some errors and warnings that need to be taken care of by creating a bunch of players so if you have any CAP's (preferably mep-files) of players you want added to an organisation, send them to me in an e-mail. totte@mvpmods.com

Feels like I can finally see the light on what might be shape up like a beta not too far away. Don't know when however :(

Thanks guys

Jamie Romak

Height: 6'2"

Weight: 220

Born: 9/30/1985

Bats/Throws: R/R

"Has been compared to a right-handed Scott Thorman."

That quote is about 3 years old now...

Romak Pics

Stats

He's listed as a 3Bman, but I browsed fielding stats that say he played only RF...

Hope this helps a little!

Trot Nixon will probably bat fifth against right-handers behind Travis Hafner and Victor Martinez.

Tigers agreed to terms with RHP Fernando Rodney to a two-year, $2.7 million contract.

Blue Jays designated infielder Ryan Roberts for assignment.

Astros signed RHP Brian Moehler to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Adding to this:

He played 16 games at 3B in 2003 (the only three other games he played was at DH); he played 20 games at 3B out of 48 in 2004 (other games at DH); in 2005, he switched to the outfield, playing 34 games - 31 in RF, 3 in LF; last season, he played 107 games - 97 in RF, 1 at 1B, the rest as a DH.

Romak wasn't considered among Atlanta's top prospects when he was in their system. Injuries have plaqued him his entire career - scouts say he has solid power, but that he needs to develop better contact to make an impact on offense.

I haven't read exactly what the Pirates plans are, but I would guess that Romak will be in Single A at best. Position wise, I'd say RF/OF as he has only played the IF one game in the last two years.

Yeah they DFA'd Roberts to make room for Ray Olmedo on the 40-man roster who they claimed off waivers from the Reds today. I'm not sure of his options situation but I'd say he starts in AAA as the everyday shortstop or splits time with Sergio Santos there.

Minnesota is set to sign SP Ramon Ortiz to a one-year deal worth $3.1M if he passes a physical

The Jays sent 3B/OF Rob Cosby outright to Triple-A Syracuse after clearing waivers

Brewers re-signed INF Tony Graffanino to a one-year deal worth $3.25M

Boston is close to ironing out the details in their deal with OF J.D. Drew worth $70M for 5 years

Tampa Bay has released RP Shinji Mori. He missed all of last season due to injury after being signed out of the Japanese league.

this is going to be the finest roster set for any sport ever. Hope it will be on the ps 2 as well

Indeed it will. Since all the hex id's should be corrected now (thanks to Tony3), a conversion should work.
