Updated 2007 Scouting Report For Cubs Prospect Fabian Jimenez. (From Cub Hub).

Fabian Jimenez

Height: 6-3

Weight: 170

Bats: Left

Throws: Left

DOB: 8/27/1986

Fabian Jimenez is a very raw lefty talent but has the possibilty to turn out as he's only 19 years old (20 in a month). His fastball usually sits around 90-92 mph, topping out at 94 mph. But at times this season he's been in the upper 80's due to his ugly mechanics that need a lot of work. His secondary pitches aren't even as developed as Santo's. Throwing a slider and a changeup right now that he has very little control or command over. Hopefully with some mechanic overhauls this offseason, we'll be able to tap into the raw talents that Jimenez possesses. For the year Jimenez has started all 17 games he's appeared yet totaling just 87 1/3 IP, while giving up 87 hits, 43 earned runs, 5 hrs, 52 bb, 54 k, 4.43 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, .271 BAA. His numbers versus lefties has been great this year, in 23 1/3 IP, he's given up 15 hits (only one being an extra basehit-a double), while walking nine and striking out 17, that's a 1.03 WHIP and a .188 BAA.

Kelly Johnson-OF- Braves Jan. 22 - 12:33 pm et

Kelly Johnson is getting more comfortable in his workouts at second base and looks forward to having a chance to win the starting job there this spring.

Johnson has been working out with Braves coach and former major league second baseman Glenn Hubbard two or three times per week all winter. If he proves to be steady enough defensively, he could enter the season as the Braves' leadoff hitter. "I like his eye at the plate," manager Bobby Cox said. "His on-base percentage is always going to be good, he'll take a walk, he can run, and he's got power. I think he's going to hit for average and power —- 20 home runs, anyway."

Brian Lawrence-S- Rockies Jan. 22 - 1:03 pm et

Rockies agreed to terms with RHP Brian Lawrence, who had been with the Rockies, on a one-year contract with a club option for 2008.

Lawrence will contend with Byung-Hyun Kim, Josh Fogg and Jason Hirsh for two openings in the Colorado rotation. We'll be disappointed if Hirsh doesn't have a spot, but even a trade of Kim or Fogg might not allow him to avoid a stint at Triple-A Colorado Springs. Other than maybe Tim Wakefield, Lawrence had less velocity that any right-handed starting pitcher in the majors before undergoing major shoulder surgery. Maybe he'll still have enough on his sinker to make him an adequate fifth starter, but he would have been a weak $1 pick in fantasy leagues even in a pitcher's park.

Totte--I've been browsing some of these really great scouting reports coming in for players that need creation and I got to thinking back to when I worked on these...

I kind of passed off work on finding information on particular teams to anyone who was willing. I think at one point, I had several different people finding me all sorts of info for about 10 teams--safe to say, it made life TONS easier. Sitting here in Illinois, I could pull up anything for the Cubs...but some teams were a total pain to find any info on, but that probably wouldn't be the case to someone who lives near there OR as a big fan has a few websites up their sleeves we don't know about.

I'm not sure if you actually have certain people "assigned" as information gatherers for particular teams, but if you don't or only have a few, I think a call to our loyal UR fans/users would be a great idea right about now. Get a group of underlings who's sole job for these rosters is to dig up scouting reports, stats, any helpful miscellaneous info on "their team" and report it back to you. Then you can just focus on bringing those reports to life in a freshly created player. If you're lucky, you might be able to find some guys who are really familar with MVPedit and the art of creating players and they could send you their scouting reports AND CAPs. I remember I had a guy working on the Mets organization for me, all I had to do was tone down the ratings he sent me in order for the Mets to mesh with everyone else.

Is your computer broken, or do you just not have an edit button?

Only playing with you, but seriously you posted within twenty minutes of your previous post. No offense, but there is really no need to make a new post.

Just a heads up, keep up the good work. :)

Good idea buddy, I like the way you think :)

I had people sign up for different teams about a month ago and I have some team gurus set but it's far from all teams (maybe like 10 as you said).

If anyone's interested, drop me an e-mail to totte@mvpmods.com
