Hey Totte, the new rosters look great!

But first, a few VERY important changes for the Angels:

First is that Bartolo Colon, Dallas McPherson, and Juan Rivera are all out on injury, indefinitely. I know you can't just put them on the DL, but you might consider moving them to the minor leagues, for convenience's sake.

Second is that Chone Figgins should no longer be considered a 2B. Barring a major trade, his role this season will be starting 3B and utility.

Howie Kendrick is NOT a first baseman. He played games there last season because of the hole. His natural position is 2B, and the Angels plan to play him there for each of his starts.

The first base job will go to either Casey Kotchman or Kendry Morales, pending what happens at Spring Training. For the moment, assume it's Kotchman, meaning that Morales starts at AAA.

Mike Napoli will more than likely get the majority of starts at C this year. The FO really seems to like him, and he had the lowest catcher's ERA (3.76) out of the starting three.

Otherwise, things look really good. Keep it up!

Thanks

Any idea of what the lineup will look like?

As I don't do the disabled list minor league demotions unless the guy is out for the whole year, I'll settle with sending down MacPherson to AAA. Colon and Rivera will stay for now...

You think Brandon Wood will get any MLB AB's this year?

Totte, would you mind adding Jim Ed Warden to the Phillies system? He was taking in the Rule 5 Draft this year and is projected to compete for a bullpen job this Spring. Here's a good report on him:

http://phuturephillies.com/tag/players/jim-ed-warden/

I don't think he'll be the real deal but i thought adding him for the sake of accuracy of your great roster would be nice.

Keep up your hard work :wtg:

I'm not sure about Brandon Wood. The Angels are taking it nice and slow with him (perhaps learning their lesson after the DMac debacle). There's a logjam at SS and they're refusing to play him at 3B (which is probably a good thing), so unless Aybar gets traded and/or Cabrera goes down to injury, it's not likely that he'll play in the show. He could be a September call-up, though, and see a few at bats. The organization probably won't call him up permanently until Cabby's contract expires after 2008.

Here's what I THINK the line-up will look like, though it's mostly guesswork. I'll note where I'm certain.

1. Matthews CF (CERTAIN)

2. Cabrera SS

3. Guerrero RF (likely--he seems to hit best out of the 3-hole)

4. Hillenbrand DH

5. Kotchman 1B

6. Anderson LF (almost certain--he hits best 6th)

7. Napoli/Molina C

8. Kendrick 2B

9. Figgins 3B (he hit leadoff last year but struggled; did much better once they moved him down in September)

As for Rivera and Colon--Colon should be back by late April or early May (though he has yet to pick up a ball) and Rivera's gone through at least June. Not a big deal, though.

After removing LF Josh Hamilton and SS Augie Ojeda you could make these moves to fill the AAA roster.

SP Les Waldron from AA Tennessee to AAA Iowa

RP Thomas Atlee from AA Tennessee to AAA Iowa

2 open spots will be in AA you can use to create CAPS if you'd like. I'd suggest SP Jeff Samardzija be one and since you have the BA Handbook the highest ranked prospect not in the game would be a good idea to create. If you need any additional scouting reports on whatever prospect you choose to add let me know and I'll see what I can dig up. Once the A-AAA rosters are finalized I'll go ahead and get an accurate roster/lineups/and pitching rotation for each squad.

I'll definitely add Samardzija and I'll dig deep in the BA Handbook for another dude to create. Let's say I put those two in single-A, who do I recall to AA?

Any word on the contract values so far? I guess Relaford would make the league minimum but Chen? 500k if added to the MLB roster? 300k in the minors. Some incentives on top of that?

C Tony Ritchie is the only guy on the A roster who finished the season at AA. You could move him to AA but that would give them 4 catchers.

You decide bro, who do you want in the roster besides Samardzija?

Decide and send me a CAP :D

That's not good...hmm...we're gonna have to come up with some solution here. Do we have any players that we can project will be in AA when the season starts?

Neither will get more than minor league contracts - and I think your figures are probably pretty close. Minnesota is also interested in Chen, but as a reliever. Chen apparently wants to compete for a roster spot, so Texas is likely to get the nod.

Good idea in theory but I don't know if I'd work for a fact. Do me a favor and pm Tony3 about it - please :). I'm swamped at work during the last hour...

here is what tony said:

yep, that's what we thought.

but not until the MS and FF team are added.

probably done in the next version.

Thanks man, i would suggest you cut Peter Shier because he's with the O's according to Google. Never heard of him, though.

Edit: BTW, where did you get the prospect handbook from? And how much did you pay for?

I pre-ordered it from www.baseballamerica.com. They shipped it on the 24th and I received it yesterday :D

I'll drop Shier then...thanks

Just a heads up, Logan Kensing (Marlin RP) is expected to miss the whole year with Tommy John Surgery. There's some hope that he'll be back by August but it's unlikely.

I might not be born with baseball in my blood like you guys but how can a guy pitch a perfect game if he's a reliever (unless he started the game)?

Anyway, thanks for your input. I'll make sure to add those guys in one of the upcoming versions :)

You're right - he was a starter for his Mexican League team. However, the Royals are going to be careful with him and keep him in the bullpen -probably for the whole season - unless he proves otherwise.
