Thanks man, i would suggest you cut Peter Shier because he's with the O's according to Google. Never heard of him, though.

Edit: BTW, where did you get the prospect handbook from? And how much did you pay for?

Shier was signed by the Phillies after becoming a minor league FA from the O's. I imagine he is just organization depth for them though.

Rotoworld:

Cardinals designated catcher Michel Hernandez for assignment.

It's amazing he lasted as long as he did. The Cardinals carried the 28-year-old Hernandez on their 40-man roster throughout last season, then bypassed him when they wanted a third catcher in September. Hernandez will go unclaimed on waivers and could be re-signed to a minor league deal.

Doesn't look like it's anything that will impact the rosters as of today (seeing how it's believed that he will just be resigned by St. Louis, but to a lesser deal); but it's something to keep an eye on to make sure he's resigned in the end and not released.

Kinda slow today, but there is a signing to report: (Rotoworld)

White Sox signed second baseman Junior Spivey to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

It looks like Spivey couldn't find a team he had a chance of making after hitting just .200/.341/.351 for Triple-A Memphis last season. Spivey is now 32 years old, so he may never get another chance to claim a starting job. The White Sox don't figure to have any room for him unless Juan Uribe has to be left off the Opening Day roster. Even then, he's not enough of an option at shortstop to truly capitalize.

No details available, but it couldn't be for much more than $100K or so over minimum seeing as he is basically fighting to be an injury/legal fill-in.

totte i know its of topic but your BaseBall America prosepct handbook do you get that in english or in your language

Den finns inte att få tag på med svensk översättning eftersom människor knappt vet vad baseboll är i Sverige.

You can't get it translated into swedish but go figure when people over here hardly know what baseball is.

I don't have any doubt in my english skills though so I think I'll manage :). You afraid I'll misread some scouting report bro? (jk)

:D

Really slow day, couldn't agree more. It's 11.30 over here and I'm finally home again. Left for work at 8 this morning...

I like this signing for the CWS. They get an experienced fielder at a very low price :wtg:

Totte, what I'd recommend is to keep Hernandez on Memphis, move Danilo Sanchez to AA Springfield, and move Brian Esposito to Memphis. I had noticed Springfield only had one catcher, and Esposito spent all of 2006 at AAA.

I'm going to try and crank out some more Cards to send to you before the weeks end, just a heads up.

Giants re-signed outfielder Barry Bonds to a one-year, $15.8 million contract. He can make $4.2 million in playing-time bonuses: $500,000 for 250 plate appearances, $1 million each for 300, 375 and 450, and $700,000 for 525.

--Good news for people who want the roids out - His two private trainers will no longer be on Giants payroll, and so they will not be allowed in the clubhouse. In addition, the contract is voided if Bonds is indicted.

Rangers signed outfielder Sammy Sosa to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Sosa will be guaranteed $500,000 if he makes the team.

Padres re-signed LHP David Wells to a one-year, $3 million contract.

Congrats on 900

Totte posted a few pages back that nothing has been announced for it. They usually come out when they come out. It's not an easy thing to convert and Kraw does it when he has the time.

Some late night Rotoworld action:

Blue Jays signed RHP Victor Zambrano to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Zambrano found a team that could have a rotation spot for him, but he didn't get the major league contract he desired. Zambrano hopes to be able to open the year as a starter despite undergoing Tommy John surgery last May. The Jays are probably better off with John Thomson as their fifth starter if he's healthy, but the added depth is nice. Shaun Marcum, Casey Janssen and Josh Towers have seen their chances of beginning the year in the majors diminsh.

900 pages...all for my second favorite mod :D (sorry, but that Total Classics deal won me over!)

EDIT:

word is that Zambrano will need most, if not all, of ST to continue his rehab. Riccardi mentioned that they are looking at Zambrano as both a starter and reliever, but that he and Ohka are now the leading candidates for the 4-5 spots in the rotation, assuming both break camp healthy.

Couple of lineup tidbits from Rotoworld (am I the only one wishing the season would hurry up and begin?):

WAS:

Said Nationals manager Manny Acta on Tuesday, "If the season starts tomorrow, [Ryan] Church is the left fielder."

It's silly that Nook Logan enters the spring with more security than Church, but at least Acta and the organization as a whole seem to have some faith in the guy with 19 homers and 77 RBI in 464 at-bats over the last two years. Church will have to compete with Chris Snelling, Alex Escobar and prospect Kory Casto in order to hold on to the job.

I don't think that's a big surprise - Church is at the top of my National's depth chart. Can't imagine why he wouldn't be.

NYY:

The Yankees have reportedly offered Bernie Williams a minor league deal to remain with the team.

There shouldn't be any room for Williams on the roster barring an injury, but the Yankees might try to fit him on there anyway. Giving him a look at first base in spring training might be one way to keep him around.

Philip Hughes is expected to be held to 175-180 innings this year after throwing 152 in 2006.

The Yankees haven't ruled out having Hughes begin the season in the majors, but the plan is for him to be a part of the rotation at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. If the Yankees expect Hughes to eventually arrive in the majors this year and pitch through the end of September -- and perhaps into October -- they better be very strict with his workload early on.

I'm curious as to what Mark thinks about where Hughes should begin the season. IMO, the Yankees should follow the Giants handling of Cain and be very slow with Hughes. That way, when he is called up to the big time, he is there to stay. I'd say AAA for most, if not all, of the first half of the season - then up for good after the break (maybe even until August).

Based on that little tidbit, I think he should start at AAA. The MLB isn't the best place to hold someone back by limiting innings; that's exactly what minor league teams are for. Plus, he's never seen AAA talent before, so why not let him get a taste of that. He's only 20!
