Hey Totte, can't wait for the rosters to come out.

I'm just wondering, of the Yankees' 06 draftees, who do you have on your rosters? I'm hoping you have Joba Chamberlain, Ian Kennedy, Mark Melancon, and Dellin Betances at the least, but I want to know who exactly you have.

Also, I know MarkB is your source for Yankees players, but a good site for their minor league players if you need a second opinion is: http://yankeeprospects.blogspot.com/

Rangers signed LHP Bruce Chen to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

It's hard to believe this is the best Chen could do after a fine winter in Puerto Rico. He's a rather extreme flyball pitcher, so there are few places that would be worse for him than Texas. He'll be a long shot to win a rotation spot this spring, but he could be carried as a reliever.

None of the propects you posted have made it in there yet. You're gonna have to talk to MarkB about that if you want anyone of them added.

Thanks for the link :D

What's a "slap hitter" when describing a player and his tools?
A hitter who sacrifices power for batting average, trying to make contact with the ball and "hit it where they ain't". Prime examples: Ty Cobb, Tony Gwynn, Rod Carew, and Ichiro Suzuki.

Didn't see this posted, so:

More Tribe uni number stuff, from indians.com mailbag:

Do they officially have the jersey numbers figured out for all the new acquisitions?

-- Pete W., Grand Falls-Windsor, Canada

Indeed, they do.Nixon will wear No. 33. The number was picked out by his son, Chase, who originally picked 32 for his dad's age before remembering Trot turns 33 in April.

Speaking of father-son numbering systems, Barfield wore No. 29 with the Padres, because that was the same number his father, Jesse, wore with the Yankees and Blue Jays. Barfield was set to wear 29 again with the Indians, until the club acquired Keith Foulke, who took it over.

Now, Barfield will wear 12 -- the number of his boyhood hero, Roberto Alomar. Interestingly enough, Barfield actually owns a replica of Alomar's jersey with the Indians, so this works out beautifully.

I don't have any fun facts for you regarding the numbers of the other acquisitions, but here they are, regardless: Joe Borowski will wear No. 47, Aaron Fultz 46, Roberto Hernandez 39 and Dellucci 20

Giants #s:

Ryan Klesko - 21

Russ Ortiz - 48

Jason Ellison - 12

Also, Matt Cain is now listed as 18. I can't fathom why he'd change his number as no one else took 43. It might just be a premature thing before ST starts; but, pitchers are a different breed in terms of sanity - so I guess anything could happen. I wouldn't change it yet - I'll keep tabs on it.

Sweet, I'll update it in the next release.

I went back through the recent scout.com scouting reports for the Cubs A-AAA pitchers and here are some pitches to add to certain players. Not all had velocity listed however, but I listed any update to theirs. I looked at the 8.1 beta to see what was to be added or changed.

(A) Daytona

RP Matt Avery:

Add slider. He puts more focus on the slider. Avery’s fastball sits in the upper 80s to low 90s.

SP Donald Veal:

Fastball between 90-93.

RP Micheal Phelps:

Fastball low 90's. Remove curve and add slider. His changeup is now his best pitch.

SP Mark Holliman:

Fastball between 90-92.

SP Kevin Hart:

Add 2 seam fastball, sinker, and changeup.

(AA) West Tenn

SP JR Mathis:

Add 2 seam changeup and a breaking ball. 2 seam fastball has a natural sink to it. You already have the 2 seam fastball in as I added this as a note.

SP Sean Gallagher:

Fastball 94. Add slider.

Hey Totte, I don't know if this has been posted yet, but...

http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/spring_traini...ex.jsp?c_id=mlb

I thought this would be useful. In the bottom right hand corner, it says team coverage, most teams will have a quick hits on their page which shows a projected lineup, rotation, closer and setup men (RH and LH). I thought this would be pretty useful considering lineups can be hard to predict.

Buckle up:

DET:

Tigers agreed to terms with LHP Edward Campusano, RHP Eulogio De La Cruz, RHP Preston Larrison, RHP Virgil Vazquez and C Mike Rabelo on one-year contracts.

Campusano, a Rule 5 pick from the Cubs, is the only one here that's a candidate to make the Tigers this spring. He'll battle Joey Eischen and others for a spot as the second lefty in the pen.

WAS:

Nationals agreed to terms with RHP Jon Rauch, RHP Jason Bergmann, LHP Micah Bowie, RHP Emiliano Fruto, RHP Joel Hanrahan, RHP Tim Redding, RHP Saul Rivera, LHP Billy Traber, RHP Ryan Wagner, OF Ryan Church, OF Michael Restovich and INF Josh Wilson on one-year deals.

Rauch, Rivera and Wagner are all pretty much locks for bullpen spots and Bowie and Traber have pretty good chances of joining them. Traber is also in the mix for rotation spots with Bergmann, Hanrahan and Redding. Fruto is probably going to have to wait his turn in Triple-A.

BOS:

Red Sox manager Terry Francona said Jonathan Papelbon would move back to the bullpen only if the anointed closer fails, Papelbon struggles as a starter and the doctors OK the move.

"I suppose the possibility exists, but I think it's a long shot," Francona said, adding such a move would come "way into the season." That's coming from a person who probably favors having Papelbon in the closer's role more than anyone in the front office.
