The Big O
Even though Steve Trachsel is listed as having #18 on MLB.com he's wearing #41 in camp which I assume will be his actual #, considering bullpen coach Dave Trembley has #18 right now. TwentySeven
The Baltimore Sun reports that Jay Gibbons has been primarily taking grounders at first base early on in camp, but has also worked out in left field. Josh Fields has reportedly been working exclusively as an infielder early on in White Sox camp. The Chicago Tribune reports that Rich Hill is set to be the Cubs' No. 4 starter, suggesting he won't have to battle for a spot this spring. Manager Jerry Narron said Thursday that Paul Wilson (shoulder) "has a legitimate chance to make our club." (REDS) Manager Eric Wedge said Thursday that C.C. Sabathia will be Cleveland's Opening Day starter. Mike Piazza reported to A's camp along with the rest of the non-catcher position players and is unlikely to see much work behind the plate. The Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports that Luis Matos is likely to make the Pirates' Opening Day roster.

sfgiantsflgators
Aren't you worried about him being rushed? Ala Royals prospects of the past? For 95% of prospects, yes. But players like Gordon roll out of bed with the ability to play ball. IMO, there's no question that he's major league ready.

ntdgg711
Aren't you worried about him being rushed? Ala Royals prospects of the past? I know what you're saying, and believe me, normally I would be worried. But now we have a new GM - Dayton Moore, who I think knows what he's doing. Moore and Bell will keep a VERY close eye on him throughout spring training and will use their best judgement. If he's not ready, he'll be in AAA. Everyone just believes that this guy is going to be a hoss throughout spring training. Gordon is 22 or 23 I think so it's not like he's a baby like so many of the other "ruined" Royals prospects. By the way, Allard Baird - our old GM was the one who loved to rush the young guys. Moore is way too smart for that.

Radagast33
Here's a quick one for you Totte off the Mets website The pitcher most often characterized as intriguing is Joe Smith, the right-handed rookie who throws lower than sidearm Perhaps he'd be more suited to submarine style than sidearm, which is his current pitching style.
