With all the changes to the managers this year, I want to make sure I nailed every one of them.

Please post the managers for each team if you'd like to help out. Base coaches is not interesting...

Thanks in advance

Thanks, I'll take care of that tonight.

I noticed the knuckleball a while back too and I was meaning to ask you guys about it. The founding fathers of UR must have added that pitch cuz I can't recall setting up Masset's repertoire.

The same goes for Phillies Minor Leaguer Kyle Drabek... I run a MVP league and members were complaining about it, and we tried to find proof he does but we just couldn't find any. Masset got brought up also.

As for Drabek, I think I read a report last year before I created him on how he had a knuckleball. If I'm not mistaken the 2006 BA Handbook mentioned his knuckler while the new 2007 one doesn't mention it and that's why I decided to keep it in. Not sure though as I'm at work and can't confirm this...

It's not a knuckler, it's a knuckle-curve!

1. Kyle Drabek [see profile]

School: The Woodlands (The Woodlands, Texas)

Position: RHP

Ht: 6-1

Wt: 195

Key stat: 12.5 K/7 innings as a senior

Best pitch: Knuckle curveball

Plan B: San Jacinto JC

Breakdown: Drabek opened the year rated the nation's No. 3 senior prospect by SchoolSports.com. But after carrying the Highlanders to a district title and a berth in the Class 5A state tournament, he takes the top spot this time around. The right-hander entered state with a 13-0 record, 147 strikeouts and a 0.91 ERA in 77 innings thanks to a heater that has touched 97 and a wicked knuckle curve. Drabek may not be the first high school player selected, but with his genes (his father Doug won the 1990 Cy Young Award with the Pittsburgh Pirates) and natural physical gifts, he has the best chance of developing into a Major League All-Star.

And from Baseball America:

There may not be a more gifted player than Drabek in this draft, but he also comes with makeup concerns. On the mound, he shows better stuff than his father, former Cy Young Award winner Doug. Though he's 5-foot-11, he has the arm speed

to deliver 94-95 mph fastballs and top out at 97. His best pitch may be his 78-82 mph spike curveball, which is all but unhittable. The lone knock on the pitch is that he relies on it too much. "He has as good an arm as anyone," an American League scouting director said. "When his fastball and curve are on, he

has the best two-pitch combination in the draft." Drabek has a decent slider and feel for a changeup, though he rarely needs to use either at this point. He finishes a bit upright in his delivery, but his mechanics are otherwise sound and the ball comes out of his hand easily. He could also make a case for being the best high school position player in the draft, as he's a comparable hitter to New Jersey's Bill Rowell and would have a better shot at playing shortstop as a pro. Yet some teams are backing away from Drabek. He's high-strung on the field, and there are off-field issues as well, but he'll still go in the middle of the first round.

I would say, change the curveball to a knuckle-curve, I would keep the break at 12-6 because of them saying it's a "spike" curveball, 78-82 range. I would change the knuckler into a slider as the BA report says he has one in his pitch rep, probably sits somewhere between 87-89, probably with right-slight, or right-diagnal break.

Some interesting stuff on Danks/Buerhle:

"John is kind of, sort of, like Buehrle," said pitching Don Cooper. "But before I say that, we have to see more from Danks.

"You draw comparisons immediately because they are both left-handed. John enters with a better curve than Buehrle, but Buehrle had a better sinker, a better cutter and a better changeup."

Danks Interview:

Secondly, my main focus this next year is to improve my groundball/flyball ratio. I’ve been working on a sinker, my change up is still new and improving everyday, and my curveball is big enough to get ground balls when I am able to keep it sharp and down in the zone.

More edits:

Pat Neshek (MIN) is working on a new pitch:

"It's basically a submarine fastball, kind of like Chad Bradford, Wes Littleton or Cla Meredith's. All my pitches are thrown from the side and this one is coming from under…I throw it as hard as I can and it sits around 84-86 with a lot of sink. I'm going to use this for lefties and it'll get a lot of groundballs hopefully. This will be a big pitch if I can master it."

Basically, bump his splitter up to 84-86 range.

Brian Bannister (KC) - has added a 2-seamer - http://kansascity.royals.mlb.com/news/arti...xt=.jsp&c_id=kc

Bannister returned home with strong legs and a polished two-seam fastball that complements his "12-to-6" curveball and circle change.

"It's kind of funny," he said. "All you have to do to find a scouting report on you is go to a fantasy baseball guide at Barnes & Noble and it tells you exactly what you need to work on. Mine said: 'Throws a four-seamer without a lot of movement.'"

After picking former teammate Tom Glavine's brain and learning how Greg Maddux gets so much movement from his two-seam fastball, Bannister decided to add the pitch to his repertoire and was encouraged by the results.

To me that means he doesn't throw a cutter. I would replace it with the 2-seamer, a velocity of 88 (just like the cutter) should be fine. I would also change his changeup to a circle change, same stats for now.

Jason Isringhausen (STL) - is working on a changeup - http://www.stltoday.com/blogs/sports-bird-...pening-remarks/

Isringhausen is working on a changeup, with help from Anthony Reyes.

And a bunch more spring training tweaks from here: http://www.rotoauthority.com/2007/02/measuring_sprin.html

The first list is a list of players to take off of the top-100 prospect list. The second list is a set of players to add on to the list. I already removed all the players who appear on both lists to cut your work down.

Unfortunately, there appears to be one more player on the first list then on the second, which shouldn't be possible. Either one of the players listed in the first list is on the '06 and '07 top prospects list or I am missing a player for the second list. I would seriously appreciate it if someone can find what I am missing, I've gone through both lists like three times.

Much appreciated

Thanks bro but would you mind suggesting changes from that link cuz I barely have time to update the stuff you guys post these days...

No prob, just had to run when i posted it earlier.

Ughh! I had this all done on the post preview screen and then accidentally hit the back button. So i get to start over. hooray! ****

Jonathon Sanchez (SF) has added a slider - https://registration.mercurynews.com/reg/lo...rancisco_giants

Sanchez worked on his slider all winter. Last year, he competed well with a fastball and change-up, but the slider is an important third pitch if he hopes to start down the line.

I would take out the curveball or 2-seamer. Curve because the article stated he didn't use it, or 2-seam because it does the same thing as his sinker.

Dan Haren (OAK) is using a cutter - http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...SPG0CO6U351.DTL

The pitch that starter Dan Haren is emphasizing is his cutter.

"He's always had it, but he never really used it much,'' said Jason Kendall, who caught Haren. "But it was really good today, and I know he's been working on it. Obviously, it's only the first day, but if he has that weapon in his arsenal... ''

I'd say replace the 2-seamer.

Amiorix Burgos (NYM) is throwing 98 - http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...rtnered=rss_mlb

He was involved in the bunt coverage drills and made an impression with his seemingly effortless but powerful throws to bases. Then, Ambiorix Burgos moved to the mound of an adjacent field for live batting practice and his pitches popped into the catcher's mitt, the audible manifestation of his power arm.

"He's throwing 98 [mph], but [Lastings] Milledge is swinging 100," Mets pitching coach Rick Peterson said to senior executive vice president and COO Jeff Wilpon as Burgos' pitches made a warm day warmer. "So it's OK."

Mariano Rivera and Bonderman have both been tinkering, but no new pitches yet.Bonderman however is making $38 million over the next 4, so his yearly needs to be bumped up to $9.5 million.

It's staggering to think, at this point, how lucrative a career Bonderman could have if his search proves successful. He'll be 28 when his four-year, $38 million contract runs out.

White Sox rotation looks to go Contreras, Garland, then Buerhle this year - http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...tesox-headlines

And Buehrle had no qualms about manager Ozzie Guillen's decision last month at SoxFest to start Jose Contreras on April 2 against the Indians, which would halt Buehrle's streak of five consecutive Opening Day starts, and to have Jon Garland pitch the second game.

"The way [they] pitched last year, I think you have an argument for both those guys," Buehrle said. "I'm just happy to be here, happy to be in a White Sox uniform and if they want me to start day one, day five. I'll be ready."

Todd Helton (COL) has bulked up to 230 pounds - http://www.denverpost.com/rockies/ci_5304831

Helton, mindful of critics and eager to rejuvenate his career, underwent a radical physical transformation, bulking up from his sickness-induced 200 pounds to approximately 230. Helton wouldn't divulge his exact weight, but admitted it was higher than 225.

I would take out the curveball or 2-seamer. Curve because the article stated he didn't use it, or 2-seam because it does the same thing as his sinker.

For clarification:

He's always had a slider; but with his 3/4-like delivery, he hasn't been able to get on top of it enough to get quality movement...so he rarely threw it. That is apparently what he's been working on - trying to get more movement to go with his plus fastball and plus change-up.

I haven't seen him ever throw an actual sinker - it's more of a two-seamer with drop. So that's the pitch (sinker) to replace with a slider.

Totte - before you left to get crunk with DMB, Sanchez was one of the Giants changes I suggested in that email I sent you. Let me know if you need me to resend that. :D

Also, I know it's not the only gauge of speed, but these White Sox prospects definetly need a boost in the speed department.

Josh Fields (3B) - current speed rating 56 - stole 28 bases last year at AAA Charlotte in 462 ab

Casey Rogowski (1B) - current speed rating 58 - stole 26 bases last year at AAA Charlotte in 459 ab

Compared to other International League speedsters and their ratings

Darnell McDonald - 538 ab, 30 sb - 76 speed rating

Trent Durrington - 391 ab, 32 sb - 76 speed rating

Wayne Lydon - 513 ab, 26 sb - 93 speed rating

Norris Hopper - 383 ab, 25 sb - 78 speed rating

Chris Roberson - 284 ab, 25 sb - 89 speed rating

Ben Francisco - 515 ab, 25 sb - 55 speed rating - needs to be updated too

Kevin Hooper - 504 ab, 24 sb - 80 speed rating

Adam Boeve - 316 ab, 24 sb - 65 speed rating - needs to be updated

I think that this would merit Fields and Rogowski a boost into the 76-79 speed category. Same with Francisco and Boeve. Don't forget to update their stealing aggressiveness and baserunning skills as well.

Also, Sean Smith SP (CWS-AA) is now with the Cleveland organization at Akron.

Also, Kevin Gregg look sot be the closer for the Marlins to start the season - http://www.miamiherald.com/588/story/27585.html

Tankersley, a candidate to serve as the team's closer, appeared in 49 games last season, going 2-1 with three saves and a 2.85 ERA. Now that he's temporarily out of the picture, it would appear that the closer's spotlight almost certainly will land on newcomer Kevin Gregg, whom the Marlins received in an offseason trade with the Angels.

Other Marlins news - http://www.miamiherald.com/588/story/27576.html

The pitching staff is much less certain, especially in the volatile bullpen, where a host of relievers are in contention for roster spots.

''We'll carry 12,'' Gonzalez said. ``We need to protect those young arms, and I think 12 is a good number.''

Ricky Nolasco, who was thought to be a candidate to close, is now being prepped for a starting role because Josh Johnson is all but certain to be out because of an arm injury to start the season.

Sergio Mitre looms as the favorite to win the fifth spot in the rotation, although Gonzalez said Wes Obermueller, Chris George and Yusmeiro Petit also are candidates to assume that job.

So, in sum; Gregg in at closer, Nolasco into the rotation instead of Petit, and maybe Mitre as a long reliever with Petit in AAA to start the season.

Also, not sure if it has been posted yet, but Ryan Howard will make 900k this year - http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/news/...t=.jsp&c_id=phi

Also, Jeremy Bonderman's trying to get his changeup going - http://detroit.tigers.mlb.com/news/article...t=.jsp&c_id=det

Bonderman said he's committed to sticking with the changeup, which he said is essential if he's going to go from a "good" pitcher to a "great" pitcher. He's trying to get the changeup to settle in somewhere around 10-to-12 mph slower than his fastball.

Bump his changeup to the 83-85 mph region then.

Also, just to clarify, Michael Young is signed through 2013. The new deal kicks in after 2008. His full deal looks like this now - 7 years, $87 million.

At one point or another, Hicks had expressed hope that each of those players would retire as a Ranger. This time, he was determined not to let Michael Young get away, and that was one of the motivating reasons why the Rangers signed their three-time All-Star shortstop to a five-year, $80 million contract.

The Rangers officially announced the signing at a press conference on Friday. Young was already signed through 2008, so this contract takes him through the 2013 season.

Aaron Heilman (NYM) recieved a one year deal worth 453,000 -http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070302&content_id=1823586&vkey=spt2007news&fext=.jsp

Signed up: Aaron Heilman, whose value to the Mets increased dramatically after Sanchez went down last summer, is the only Met to have his salary renewed this season, the second in two years and the second in nine years. Heilman, not yet eligible for arbitration, is to earn $453,000 for the 2007 season, an increase of $94,000.

Renewed is the term used when a club imposes a salary on a player.

Some of the raise can be attributed to an increase in the minimum salary -- from $327,000 last year to $380,000 this year.

Thirteen other Mets, including Milledge, John Maine and Pedro Feliciano, agreed to one-year contracts, leaving no unsigned players in camp. None of the 13 was eligible for arbitration.

The club renewed the salary of David Wright last year, putting his salary at $374,000, and then negotiated a six-year, $55 million contract with him in August. The chance of affording Heilman a multi-year deal appears remote at this point.

Felix Hernandez (SEA) now weighs 226. He also made 340,000 last season and probably got a slight raise, so time to bump that up.

"My arm action was nice and easy, and the ball was jumping out of my hand," he said. "I am in the best shape of my life and I can really notice the difference. I feel quicker. Last year, I was fat."

He can laugh now about the excess baggage he carried a year ago, when he reported to camp with a round face and round midsection and didn't get into decent shape until halfway through the regular season.

"I feel now like I did the second half of the season," he said. "I weigh 226 pounds and am trying to stay there."

Hernandez's first Cactus League start came shortly after he had his 2006 contract renewed for an undisclosed amount. He made $340,000 last season.

"I don't want to talk about it," he said when asked about his contract, "but everything is cool."

Braden Looper (STL) is now a starting pitcher. Need to change his position to a starter and bump up his stamina. He will take the 5th spot in the rotation at least untill Mulder return from his injury (which could be well past the all-star break) Not sure if you want to put him in the 5th and Mulder into the long relief or vice-versa. You could also drop Mulder down for now, but that is entirely up to you. - http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...7news&fext=.jsp

The hardest part of Braden Looper's much-hyped mid-career move has nothing to do with the game between the lines. The greatest challenge in Looper's switch from relieving to starting, it turns out, is figuring out what to do with all the time during the day before he takes the mound.

It's becoming clearer all the time that Looper may not exactly be in competition for a starting spot. A more accurate depiction, it seems, is that Looper is preparing for a job that is all but his -- barring a complete belly flop during the spring.

Prince Fielder (MIL) - will make 415,000 this year, while Hanley Ramirez (FLA) will make 400,000 - http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...7news&fext=.jsp

The Brewers came to terms Friday with five players but were forced to renew the contract of first baseman Prince Fielder because they couldn't agree on a salary with Fielder's agent, Scott Boras.

Fielder will earn $415,000 in 2007, which the Brewers will tell you is an $85,500 raise from the $329,500 he earned last season and $15,000 more than what the Marlins are paying reigning National League rookie of the year Hanley Ramirez. But because the Major League minimum salary increased from $327,000 to $380,000 this year, Boras argued that Fielder deserved a bigger bump.

Livan Hernandez (ARI) 2-seamer breaks with more sink to it than sdeways action. Change the break to left slight from left diag - http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...7news&fext=.jsp

Hernandez said he was pleased with his curveball, but the right-hander is still working on perfecting his two-seam sinking fastball.

"It was a little weird because it feels different when you face a hitter," Hernandez said of his first outing. "But I felt really good. I left a couple of pitches up and tried to work on my sinker. I'll try to work more with the sinker next time and try to get it 100 percent because it's very important for me. For me, it's a way to get my body ready and get all the pieces ready for the season and try to keep my arm strong."

Ben Broussard (SEA) has been taking fly balls in right field and started the first spring training game there. I would say make it his 2nd Position, as he hasn't played a game in the outfield since 2002 with the Indians. So 2nd Pos - RF

Ben Broussard has been taking fly balls in right field the past few days and started there in Friday's Cactus League opener against the Padres.

"When going from the infield and outfield and back to the infield, you've got to be real careful about your arm," Mariners manager Mike Hargrove said. "You have to pay attention to what you're doing."

Broussard, expected to earn a spot on the 25-man Opening Day roster, has spent practically his entire MLB career at first base. He hasn't played a regular-season game in the outfield since 2002, when he appeared in 32 games (29 starts) with the Indians.

Totte - before you left to get crunk with DMB, Sanchez was one of the Giants changes I suggested in that email I sent you. Let me know if you need me to resend that. :D

I still have that e-mail but I haven't gotten around to it yet. That weird thing called "normal life" has been haunting me badly over the last month and I'm heavily behind with UR stuff so please let me know if you're able to lend a hand buddy. Drop me an e-mail...

Oh, I know exactly what you mean - I'm up to my neck in "normal life." I'm going to take the mom out for dinner tonight, but I'll shoot you an e-mail when I get back. :D

Before I leave, a small thing I keep meaning to post but forget - Fred Lewis is now #20.
