herky
Cubs players will have to check the lineup every day. Piniella plans on rotating five different players in the No. 2 spot. The candidates include Jacque Jones, Ryan Theriot, Matt Murton, Mark DeRosa and Cesar Izturis. "I don't know if we'll settle on one guy April 1," Piniella said. "We'll try things, and whatever works for us the best, that's what we'll do."

herky
That's interesting herky What's your take on rotating 5 players in one spot? I'm really not high on that. I'd like to have a set order that doesn't change much Jones has too much power to hit 2nd I think, but the rest of those names are decent candidates. Settle on one guy though so he's comfortable hitting second. Rotating the order reminds me of Dusty Baker too much.

The Big O
It looks like the Orioles rotation is set at Bedard Cabrera Wright Loewen Trachsel Penn was optioned to AAA along with Birkins and Bell. The O's are toying with a 6 man rotation in AAA Penn Bell Birkins Olson Johnson Leicester I'd say Leicester could be put in the LR spot to fix that problem John Parrish has made the team which means most likely Todd Williams will not leaving a bullpen of: LR Guthrie MR Williamson MR Bradford MR Parrish SU Walker SU Baez CL Ray The last bench spot is a battle between Bynum, Stern, Knott, House and Dubois. Bynum supposedly has the lead in Perlozzo's eyes but the FO has other ideas. The O's could also go with a 4 man bench to keep Todd Williams on the team. :wall: :wall:
cybernetic
Jays notes: OF Reed Johnson went 2-for-3 with a couple of RBI today, rising his spring average to .405. SP Tomo Ohka had a solid outing, almost guaranteeing him a rotation spot to start the season. He'll make one more start before the end of the spring. Today he went 5 innings allowing just a single run on 6 hits, walked no one, hit 2 batters and struck out 4. His spring ERA is now 2.84. RP Francisco Rosario had a decent inning allowing just an unearned run in the span. He now has a 3.86 ERA. Due to the fact he is out of options and has had a decent spring, he'll most likely make the team or be traded. RP Scott Downs threw a scoreless inning and struck out 2. He's at a 3.38 ERA. RP Jason Frasor pitched a scoreless inning and picked up the win over the Reds. He's now at 3.52 ERA after a rough start. RP Jeremy Accardo pitched a scoreless 9th inning to pick up the save. His ERA dropped to 5.87. He struck out all 3 batters he faced in the inning. RP Brandon League was optioned to Syracuse (AAA). He's struggled with a shoulder injury all spring and was likely going to begin the season on the DL anyway. This means they won't have to use a DL spot for him. cybernetic
1-4 looks good, but V. Zambrano made the team, ouch. He hasn't made the team yet.. it's between him, Josh Towers, John Thomson and a few others for the last spot but he has the edge at this point. An update, the rotation for the first five games is set: Halladay, Burnett, Ohka vs. Detroit Chacin, Towers, Halladay vs. Tampa

Stix
Braves reliever Blaine Boyer, coming back from shoulder surgery, will start the season at Triple-A Richmond, despite an encouraging spring. "He needs to get innings," manager Bobby Cox said on Sunday. I would assume now that it comes down to Paronto and Yates, and Paronto looks to be the top canidate. herky
The Chicago Cubs today announced its third round of roster cuts, reducing its spring roster by four from 35 players to 31 players. Outfielder Felix Pie has been optioned to Triple-A Iowa. The three remaining non-roster invitees have been returned to minor league camp; catcher Koyie Hill, infielder Tomas Perez and left-handed pitcher Les Walrond will be assigned to Iowa. Chicago's spring roster of 31 players consists of 17 pitchers, two catchers, seven infielders and seven outfielders.

sfgiantsflgators
Giants Minor League News: For San Jose, Emmanuel Burris will be the starting shortstop. Marcus Sanders has been moved to second base full-time stemming from issues with his lack of arm strength and shoulder problems. Could very well be the fastest shortstop/second base combination in the minors. Hopefully the move to second will take pressure of Sanders' shoulder which took a beating last season. EDIT: I don't know if Burris will be there long enough for the move to matter anyway - he could hit Connecticut soon.
