Despite rumors, Tomo Ohka will open the season as the Jays 4th starter (not 3rd) and will start game one against Tampa Bay.. the 5th starter hasn't officially been announced but will go to either Josh Towers, Victor Zambrano, Casey Janssen or Shaun Marcum. Towers has the edge at this point; Janssen and Marcum are not really stretched out and have mainly been used out of the bullpen; Zambrano will make another start this spring and is expected to be given a full pitch count (approx 100).

Brian Tallet is also out of options and will most likely earn a spot in the bullpen despite his rough spring. He did have a solid season last year after a slow start and very inconsistent appearances.

B.J. Ryan pronounced himself ready to go after a strong bullpen session today. He hasn't pitched in a live game in the past couple of weeks with a sore back. He will throw in a minor league game most likely on Thursday and if all goes well he'll pitch in the last spring game before the season starts.

Toronto will announce their 25-man roster before the weekend.

OF Jeff Duncan was re-assigned to minor league camp today, leaving the team with 31 players in camp including 5 non-roster invitees (Zambrano, Towers, Stairs, Gonzalez and Fasano).. there is also one open spot on the 25-man roster and one more will be made in the near future when Thomson is released or outrighted to AAA. Davis Romero is still on the active roster and will be placed on the DL for the entire season.

That's a good question that I don't really have an answer to. I'm moving on Sunday and working on Saturday so only God knows how I'll find the time do to both. I've always said that the rosters would be out around and I'll stick to that fuzzy answer. Under the circumstances, I hope you understand that I can't give you a definite day :)

Ok, good luck with the move.

Some Orioles news:

Orioles optioned pitcher Sean Tracey to Triple-A Norfolk and reassigned outfielder Jon Knott and catcher Eli Whiteside to minor league camp. They also announced that outfielder Ruddy Yan, infielders Cesar Crespo, Mike Cervenak and Terry Tiffee, catcher J.R. House and pitchers Andy Mitchell and Steve Green will remain with the club through the remainder of the exhibition schedule before being reassigned.

Orioles trade Cory Keylor to the Boston Red Sox today for catcher Alberto Castillo. Castillo will be AAA depth as House is expected to play 1B instead of catch.

Also Corey Patterson will play vs. LHP after all until Payton comes off the DL. Patterson will most likely sit vs. tough lefties however.

Jay Gibbons will replace Payton in LF on opening day and will most likely see most of his time there until Payton comes off the DL.

Orioles and Royals are discussing a Todd Williams for Reggie Sanders trade.

The 13 man staff vs. the 4 man bench is still up in the air right now...

swedish chicks for the most part are mad hot lol

Amen to that brother! They're absolutely gorgeous!

Anyways regards to Curt Schilling which pitch are you adding?

His new changeup. I'd like to know the velocity and movement of it since I haven't been able to watch at game with Schilling yet this spring.

Have you adjusted Daisuke Matsuzaka stats?

What? I'm not adding his japanese stats if that's what you're saying. Or are you talking about his ratings? Do they need a boost? Give me some more info bro

About the Boston roster, I appreciate you posting it but if it's one team that I got covered from top to toe, it's my precious Red Sox :)

San Diego Padres - Scott Strickland P Released

Smart move by the Padres if you ask me. Kevin Cameron was pitching better and deserved his spot in the bullpen while Strickland was about to get a 1 million $ guaranteed salary.

Thanks for posting the transactions.

Indians notes (Plain Dealer Newspaper):

"The Indians sent outfielders Shin-Soo Choo and Ben Francisco, along with pitcher Juan Lara and infielder Luis Rivas down to the minors as they get closer to their opening day roster.

The moves mean first baseman Ryan Garko and infielder Mike Rouse have made the team.

The club's roster stands at 28. It must be down to 25 by the weekend."

Can the Baseball America Top 100 prospects please have a significant upgrade in talent. I'm not expecting 80's contact/power but 50/60 should be reasonable for people like Alex Gordon and Evan Longoria. And the black face on Alex Gordon is creepy on the white body lol.

Juan Miranda, Tampa Yankees - 3 stars.

Marcos Vechionacci, Tampa Yankees - 4 stars.

Jesus Montero, Tampa Yankees - 4 stars.

Tim Battle, Tampa Yankees - 3 stars.

Kevin Whelan, Tampa Yankees - 4 stars.

Rolando Japa, Tampa Yankees - 3 stars.

That's just some of the Yankees A team, but they look fine to me. :)

I can't vouch for other teams, but I've not noticed any problems. Do you have any specific players in mind?

Indians update

ROTATION:

1. LHP C.C. Sabathia

2. RHP Jake Westbrook

3. LHP Jeremy Sowers

4. RHP Paul Byrd

5. RHP Fausto Carmona

LINEUP:

1. CF Grady Sizemore

2. RF Trot Nixon

3. DH Travis Hafner

4. C Victor Martinez

5. 1B Casey Blake

6. LF David Dellucci

7. SS Jhonny Peralta

8. 3B Andy Marte

9. 2B Josh Barfield

The Indians will platoon in left field, right field and first base. The above lineup will be used against right-handed pitchers. Against left-handers, Jason Michaels will replace Dellucci in left field, Blake will move to right field in place of Nixon, and either Martinez or 1B Ryan Garko will play first base.

RESERVES:

OF Jason Michaels

C Kelly Shoppach

INF Mike Rouse

INF Ryan Garko

When the Indians face left-handed pitching, the right-handed-hitting Michaels will replace left-handed-hitting David Dellucci in left field. Shoppach will catch once or twice a week, mostly when left-handers are pitching, with Victor Martinez moving to first base. On days Martinez gets a complete day off, Garko will play first. Rouse will be the backup at shortstop and second base.

ROOKIE WATCH: RHP Adam Miller had, by far, the best camp of any player, rookie or otherwise. Miller pitched 14 scoreless innings, and although he will begin the season in the rotation at Triple-A Buffalo, he served notice in spring training that he is close to being ready to pitch in the big leagues. OF Trevor Crowe, a top-of-the-order speedster in the mold of Grady Sizemore, without the power, made a good impression in camp and will start the season in left or right field at Double-A Akron.

More O's moves:

Stern was sent to AAA Norfolk where he will bat leadoff, it's down to Bynum :wall: :puke: or Dubois or Todd Williams :puke: or an outsider for the last roster spot. (frankly I'd rather have Dubois or an outsider)

Paul Shuey and Castillo were assigned to minor league camp. I guess you need to create Shuey as he looked real good this spring before he got hurt.

Jays notes:

The Jays signed OF Wayne Lydon to a minor league contract. He was released by the Nationals earlier this spring and played for Syracuse (AAA) last season for the Jays. He'll probably return there.

John Thomson threw a scoreless frame in a minor league game today.

Gustavo Chacin went 5 innings today allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. He walked 1 and struck out 4 in the outing. His spring ERA is now 5.30.

Jeremy Accardo threw 2 scoreless frames today, lowering his ERA to 4.66.

Jamie Vermilyea pitched a scoreless 1 1/3 frames today in his first appearance in big league camp. He'll probably start the year in AAA again.

Lee Gronkiewicz pitched picked up the loss in 2/3 of an inning of work. He allowed a run on 2 hits.

Jays hitters amassed just 4 hits in a 3-2 loss to Cleveland today. Reed Johnson, Lyle Overbay, Vernon Wells and Gregg Zaun each had a hit. Alex Rios and Zaun each had an RBI. Overbay walked 3 hits in 3 consecutive plate appearances.

Casey Janssen has been told by pitching coach Brad Arnsberg that he has made the team and will start the season in the bullpen.

Here is the projected bullpen as it stands:

Ryan (closer)

Frasor, Downs (set up)

Accardo, Rosario/Tallet, Zambrano (MR)

Janssen (LR)

Only one of Tallet and Rosario will make the bullpen if Accardo makes the team. There is also talk that Geremi Gonzalez will make the team. The Phillies are reportedly scouting Rosario and may be interested in acquiring him, nothing is close right now though. Shaun Marcum is also in the running to make the 'pen.

No I don't agree. Not until they prove they can hit at the MLB level.

If you find the Gordon face creepy, why don't you just change the face ID in MVPedit?

In the game, why do all the guys in the low minor leagues always have 1 or 2 stars, even the prospects?

I don't agree at all here bro. Just as MarkB said, do you have any certain players in mind?

Jays notes:

The latest reports about the Jays pitching staff says this:

-Jeremy Accardo and Brandon League will likely start the year in AAA.

-Josh Towers may be used out of long relief to start the year.

-Victor Zambrano has all but made the team

-If Towers moves to the pen, either Casey Janssen or Shaun Marcum will be the 5th starter, otherwise it'll be Towers

This all but means the bullpen/rotation is shaping up like this (although an official announcement will be made soon):

Rotation:

1. Halladay

2. Burnett

3. Chacin

4. Ohka

5. Janssen/Marcum

Bullpen:

CP - Ryan

SU - Frasor

SU - Downs

MR - Rosario/Tallet

MR - Zambrano

MR - Marcum/Janssen

LR - Towers

The Jays are actively shopping Rosario who's command is not ready for the big leagues.. Tallet has had a bad spring but may make the 'pen by default after a good year last season and is out of options as well.
