HypnoxXx
I've been tryin to get the Detroit page for contracts and it won't load for me--if anyone is getting it to work and would like to let me know what contracts are wrong on the rosters, I'd appreciate it! bbythepier
Hyp, I just woke up after 3 hours sleep (what a night), and I see your post. What are the chances? Can you see this page instead? http://russells.freeshell.org/ddollars/tea...amp;name=Tigers Not a lot of long term deals, but a few. Peace I'm out. abacusand13south
No, I made this easier for everyone, so just mind your own business. Read your own post man it was obviously made so that you wouldnt have to look through 10 plus pages. How is that easier for everyone else? This is the corrections thread for the rosters, why make a new one? All ive seen is complaints about having a new thread and atleast one questioning your integrity. Mind my own business? helping to make this roster better is my business, and by the way you take criticism greatly. Phillies sign Amaury Telemaco to a minor league deal. abacusand13south
Carlos Silva will undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus and isn't expected back until after the All-Star break. David Gassner will be alled up to take over as the twins fifth starter. Eric young is probably out for the season and possibly his career so he should be moved down to whatever level theres room for him at.

bbythepier
As I go through pitchers and do my best to make sure their real-life repertoires are represented in the game, I have two dilemmas I have to balance. I have to try and make their pitches in USER-play represent the “action†of their pitches in real life, while keeping in mind that the IN-GAME pitch rating represents a pitcher’s level of ability in the game. Huh? Take for instance Rick Bauer on the Baltimore Orioles. According to O’s fan millennium, his is a “sinking†fastball. The only way to represent this in the game is with a 2-seam fastball or sinker, as a 4-seam fastball can not be made to sink, only tail (ACTUAL ACTION in USER gameplay: Try and throw a 4-seam fastball w/ 15 movement and 12-6 drop, it tails not drops). When millennium plays Bauer in-game, he wants to duplicate the “dropâ€. Myself as a Giant fan will probably never play with or against Bauer, so I am more concerned that his simulated stats are consistent with his past performance. His simulated stats are affected by many things including the defense behind him, the park he plays in, etc. But a ‘huge majority’ of his simulated stats are based on his IN-GAME PITCHER RATINGS. So I can not give his 2-seam or sinker ultra-downward movement, as this will affect his in-game rating and thus his simulated stats. So I must find a balance between “actual pitch action†and in-game ratings. This is what I have and will continue to do in my suggestions. I hope this makes it more clear why going through a team’s pitchers can take time. I have to evaluate the scouting reports for the “actual pitches†and then 2 or 3 year stats or projections to determine ability. My suggestions are necessarily going to need adjustments here and there. But the ultimate gain to the roster will provide much greater accuracy and enjoyment in playing MVP 2005. A Twins fan after watching tonight’s game wants to go to their PC or Xbox and use Joahnn Santana’s circle changeup to strike out 11 batters. Yet what ESPN called the best changeup in the game has only an 88 rating in the game. (Not to mention the 2 changeups at the same speed given to Santana by EA is nonsense). Emulating your favorite stars is one of the highlights of any video game. I am doing my best to make this possible for fans of all 30 teams. Thank you for your suggestions and thank you to HypnoxXx & llcmac for allowing us to make these corrections and greatly improve this video game. Brian This is a chart of how 4-seam fastballs are affected by control and velocity, as movement has no bearing on the pitch’s in-game rating. (Give a 4-seam fastball 15 movement, its in-game rating is unchanged and that pitcher’s simulated stats have no material change as well. If you try it, do multiple seasons of simulation, you’ll find this is the case). Thank you to my nephew Justin for this chart and he is diligently working as I type on the one for secondary pitches. You will find that any pitch other than a 4-seam is affected similarly, except in their case only movement and control affect their IN-GAME rating. A 99 mph changeup is seen the same as a 10 mph changeup in THE EYES OF THE COMPUTER. But the velocities of these different pitches GREATLY affect actual USER gameplay. Thus the dilemma. Can someone in their spare time use this chart to create a line of Excel formulas so that a roster maker like HypnoxXx can have open both MVPEdit and Excel and he can immediately see what the IN-GAME rating of a 4-seamer will be? This would prove helpful on his editing based on my suggestions. Please take note of the EXCEPTIONS when making any formulas. HypnoxXx
Interesting and overwhelming, bby...How's that list of your past suggestions/scouting reports comin, btw? Just began creating players tonight...I've enlisted a few familar faces to work on their respective teams, (miget, fatty) hopefully they'll accept...if anyone else is interesting in creating CAPs for their team, please let me know ASAP--I'm only looking for serious volunteers who know their team's organization really well (I've created about 10 of these new AAA players tonight, and finding info for some of them is extremely hard)... bbythepier
Sorry Hyp, stepped away from the computer. After four Michelobs, 3 days of live, excruciatingly exciting Giants' games, and a long phone call w/ a female acquaintance I'm going to call it a night. You and others will notice my work on pitchers is in direct correlation to when the Giants are on the road, as they will be all next week. I'll start again tomorrow night. abacusand13south
A few corrections followed by a Few Transaction to round out the past few days. On Buffalo Andrew Brown only has 1 pitch and he has now been converted fulltime to the bullpen to keep him helthy On Norfolk Heath Bell has lost 20-30 lbs since last season and is no longer 240 Baybears Brad Baker only has 1 pitch Altoone Matt peterson and ron chivacci only have 1 pitch. There is a matt white on the royals and one on the devil rays they both have the same stats, are there 2 different matt white's or is this just a mistake. White sox minors Bobby Jenks is now a closer in double a to try and keep him healthy. John Foster a pitcher on the richmond braves can be imported from 2004 he was with the brewers. Is Greg Jacobs of the mariners, hot-cold zones supposed to be that patriotic or is that indeed how he hits. Reds Jason Vovoa has no zones against righties Angels derrick gibson has no zones at all and neither does the cubs angel echeverria. Diamondbacks signed LHP Darren Oliver to a minor league contract. Tigers released third baseman-designated hitter Dean Palmer. Padres signed outfielder Kerry Robinson to a minor league contract. Nationals claimed RHP Travis Hughes off waivers from the Rangers and optioned him to Triple-A New Orleans. Marlins claimed outfielder Reggie Abercrombie off waivers from the Diamondbacks and optioned him to Single-A Jupiter Mariners released infielder Ricky Gutierrez. Yankees signed RHP Pete Munro to a minor league contract. Mariners released LHP Ryan Anderson. Mariners released RHP Rett Johnson.

bbythepier
Here you go Hyp and any other pitch “tweakersâ€, Enter in the formulas in the first pic and get results that look like the second pic. Note: One correction with Movement table was 10= +21 11= +24 12= +26 13= +28 14= +30 15= +32 About 1 in 10 number combinations will be off by ONE rating point, but never more than that, I think. Needless to say, no fastballs can be under 63 mph and any rating 100+ is actually 99 in game.
bbythepier
Cleveland minors AA- Akron Carmona “good command of a heavy 90-95 sinker…upgraded his change into a plus pitch w/ improved late action…K totals won’t increase until he tightens his slider. It’s a slurvy breaking ball and hasn’t been an effective 3rd option†“Using a 94-mph fastball, a very good change-up and excellent control†from : http://sports.mainetoday.com/seadogs/stori...05seadogs.shtml “Carmona’s sinker results in a ton of grounders, and he can throw it in the 91-95 mph range†T: His sinker should be his best pitch, while his 4-seam will be an average pitch. The slurve is fine. Get rid of the 2-seam. Changeup is 2nd best pitch. Slurve is 4th best pitch. Example: If this sits well with Indian fans, then what I would submit to HypnoxXx would be something like this: So make the sinker 93 mph, 10 mov’t, 70 control and 12-6 drop (overall=81). Make the fastball have 0 mov’t, 90 mph, 40 control (75). Changeup should be 9 mov’t , 65 control with 1-7 (78}. Slurve is fine (69). Cabrera “has all the makings of a power reliever w/ 2 plus pitches- a 92-96 mph fastball and a hard, diving splitter…Cabrera’s slider and changeup aren’t as useful…has improved his slider, but he tips off his changeup…easy prey for basestealers…†T: Leave his fastball speed alone but knock the control down to about 55. This is an important point. I have to maintain some hierarchy in the ratings. At the 87 it is now, it would be rated similar to a top 5 pitcher like Billingsley. That’s not fair. He will gain control as he goes. But the splitter should have 10 mov’t (79 overall). Get rid of the bogus 2-seam. Add a mid 60s rated slider and a 60-ish changeup. Move him to AAA-Buffalo and make him the closer Denney- This is the guy who got hit by a stray bullet while riding the bus but was saved by the cheerleader boots he was wearing as a haze “…changeup and sharp curveball are keys to his success…fastball is an average 88-92…consistently finds the strike zone…3 solid pitches could help at back of rotation or in middle relief…†5.5 inn./start T: Get rid of slider. Make changeup mid 70s (with more control) and give curve more movement like 7. Lower fastball to 90 mph and give some movement (it’s not straight). AAA-Buffalo Brown “possesses an overpowering four-pitch mix, led by an effortless 92-96 fastball…also has two power breaking balls along with good touch on an average changeup…health is a big ?...†He only averaged 4.5 innings/ start in AA T: Make him RP like abacus said. Knock his stamina to 60. Make his fastball 94 mph and about 80-ish rating. Give him a 11-5 slider and 12-6 curve in the mid/low 70s and a 70-ish change. Crucetta- “…has proven to be one of the most durable starters in the system…works with an 88-92 sinker that reaches 94, as well as a solid slider, splitter and changeup…Fastball has good life with late run and sink…added the splitter in ’04 and immediately became a go to pitch…has good command of all four pitches…projected as setup man or #4 starer…†T: Give the 4-seam some inner mov’t but knock it down a few rating points to 80-ish. Make the changeup mid 60s. Change the sinker to a 85 mph splitter and make it mid 70s. Slider is fine. Guthrie- “…no longer projects as a starter…stuff-slider,changeup, curveball- is more notable for his ability to throw strikes rather than its quality…†4.5 inn./ start in AAA T: leave this guy alone but make him a RP. Stamina is about right. Tallet- “…velocity was back to normal, as he pitched at 89-92…his slider and changeup also were solid…†T: He can keep the curve (even though I don’t see it) but make it his worst pitch (high 60s). Give his slider the same rating as his curve is now (8 mov’t, 69 contl.). Give his change 6 mov’t to make it 70-ish rating. These guys are in AA or AAA (or injured?) Jake Dittler-SP, LHP “…when coming back from back stiffness, lost control of his plus stuff…His two main pitches are a heavy, boring 90-95 mph fastball and an above-average curveball…his changeup came on as a viable 3rd pitch….on schedule to contribute in majors by ’06…†T: Give him a 93 mph 4-seam fastball w/ some inner movement, about high 70s rating. Make his 11-5 curve mid 70s rating and give him a mid/high 60s changeup. J.D. Martin-SP, RHP “…improved his arsenal last year, working off 2 and four seam fastballs with good movement in the 89-91 mph range…best pitch is a curveball that ranks as the best in the system…has also developed a cutter and also throws a decent changeup…will spend ’05 in AA†T: A true 5-pitch pitcher. A 11-5 curve in the low 80s and a 2 & 4-seam in the high 70s with mov’t on both. A 70-ish cutter and a high 60s change. Mariano Gomez- SP, LHP “…recurring problem in ligament in middle finger…works with a 91-93 mph fastball, a plus changeup and a slurvy breaking ball…has to a better job of consistently repeating his pitches…plan on sending him back to AA…†T: Go by the scouting report, give him a mid 70s change, a 70-ish fastball, and a high 60s slurve. Make his durability low. All other P prospects are in A ball. Will do them later. Adam Miller is a Top 5 pitcher and will be submitted with those. I know some of these players have moved around since Version 1. The roster makers may have to locate them in their new location (AAA vs. AA vs. A)

Dr. Hyp, I was just finishing what I had started before your request. I am now on the plan you've prescribed. Sorry, just trying to clear my plate of works that were in progress. This way Indian fans like abacus and TribTime can swoop in and tell me how I screwed their prospects and what a sh*tty job I'm doing. (I hate when I get scolded ) I PM'd a small Angels' minors file, so you get the idea of what I'll be sending. The rest will be in Word format. Just give me time to catch up in between MVP games, beers, watching Eva Longoria on Desperate Housewives, etc.
