Not everybody has to wake up in the middle of the night to see what presents are under the tree. I'd like to play with players who actually DO what they do in real life, not just get their F-ing "birthday suit" right. It sure is easy to tell the members who are 16 and under. Go grab your skateboard and "grind the rail" in front of the local 7-11.
jumbohky10
back off, if it's only a video game go play with the rosters EA gave you, these guys put a lot of time into these rosters and they are the best out there, and are worth the wait!!! bbythepier
bbythepier; where you fond Scouting Reports? (What Pitcher throws, speed, etc.) thanks acosme, I use these for the PROs http://www.sportingnews.com/books/baseball/05scguide.html http://secure.lindyssports.com/HostedStore...5993b99d18ef874 and this for the minors http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...519161?v=glance I actually use a lot of others, but these are fine for most. The two I use for pros are wonderful in a lot of areas, but I wouldn't make either of them the Scouting Bible, or as shoelessjoe would say (based on his last post), The Book of Bull$hit
jumbohky10
one minor change you might want to make Dave McCarty on the Red Sox, his first position should be 1B and second position OF, also his defense is at 55 but he's got a pretty good glove. i'd increase his defensive rating a bit maybe to 65 or 70. bbythepier
BBY, need your help: I have stats on the following player, I just need scouting reports on them. They are all AAA Ottawa or AA Bowie this year. Again, I have stats, I just need info like pitch types and such: LHP Tim Byrdak RHP Rodney Ormond RHP Jacobo Sequea RHP Andy Mitchell LHP Brian McNichol IF Alejandro Freire Kris Wilken Thanks in advance, bud. Hey Millenium, Other than Sequea, I would characterize the other guys as “roster fillersâ€. Did my best to come up w/ something. Andy Mitchell “Andy Mitchell who simply didn't have the stuff to make it with a conventional delivery.†“right-handed reliever Andy Mitchell finished with 13 consecutive scoreless innings†“senior sidearmer Andy Mitchell†(on Georgia Tech w/ Mark Texiera) Translation: Probably typical sidearm stuff: tailing fastball, slurve, crappy changeup (my best guess) From 2000: BRIAN MCNICHOL (LHP) -- SWING MAN The 6-foot-5, 225-pound lefty is more of a finesse pitcher than a power hurler despite his size. With a fastball that barely gets into the 90-mph range, McNichol relies on his above average changeup and good command to be successful. He needs to improve on his curveball against fellow lefties, who hit at a .320 against him last season. From 2001: Best Trick Pitch (in Oriole minors): 1. Aaron Rakers (split-finger) 2. Steve Bechler (Knuckle-curve) 3. Rodney Ormond (sinker) From 1999 (he played in my Giants org back then) AA-Norwich Navigators 1B Alejandro Freire is currently ranked third in the league with a .349 batting average and is also among the league leaders in home runs (9), slugging percentage (.616) and extra-base hits (21). Sounds like a good hitting 1B with little power, which the majors just doesn't have much use for (unless you have a glove like Mientkiewicz) Kris Wilken Found this on one of your Oriole Blogs: Don't mean to disappoint you, but Wilken was overmatched at Bowie. He's a 26-year-old corner/utility player coming off a .655 OPS in AA. The chances of him making any kind of impact this year in Ottawa are very, very slim. I'd be surprised if he was still in the organization a year from now without significant, unexpected improvement.
HypnoxXx
I'd like to take the time out to thank Snash for his help during the short time he was part of the team, especially with his help with my DBacks...He's moving on to tackle his own monster project in the form of a College Baseball total conversion. I think everyone should check it out, it looks very cool thus far and may be a sneak peek at the future of the MLB-less EA Sport baseball franchise. Back to v1.1, the ever busy llcmac hit the wall known as "school", and so I went ahead and finished Tampa Bay, KC and Milwaukee on my own. He will be tackling his boys, the Phillies, tomorrow. I've also made 2 Orioles (Tim Byrdak and Jacobo Seuquea) and 2 Cubs (Scott McClain and Jermaine Van Buren) to fill up their rosters in case miget and millennium are delayed. This is not me telling them they're too slow or I don't like their stuff, I just wanted to get the lineups and rotations done while I sit here doing nothing. Millennium still has a list of around 5 guys even after those 2 anyway. With that said, I'm hoping to have Version 1.1 up by Friday at the latest. HypnoxXx
In my ongoing quest to fill up the FA list with real players, I've dug up these guys from the Total Minors FA list. I have NO idea if they still even play baseball or are even on a team, if you know, please post your findings, otherwise to the FA list they go! Rick DeHart, Felix Jose, Eric Knott, Carlton Loewer, David Manning, Gabe Molina, Lance Painter, Steve Parris, Gene Stechschulte and Garrett Stephenson. Andruw25
Hey guys, quick question. I noticed some of the top prospects don't really resemble their real life counterpart in the game, whether it be skin tone, batting stance, or whatever. I'd love to put together a list for the top 50, maybe top 100 prospects (atleast every orgs big name minor leaguers) so that when they get called up, it's not just the attributes that make you think of your favorite prospect. Would this be a welcomed list if I worked on it this coming week? Me and my buddy just got mlbtv full access, and it's REAL impressive! I went back to spring training games to figure out Andy Marte's batting stance...just to give an example of the things I can do with that. I can post appearance adjustments here and add batting stances/pitching deliveries in the appropriate other thread that already exists just for that. Since the console users can no longer edit minor league appearances with these rosters, I'm hoping my small efforts in this area would be beneficial. Since it's obviously not your focus, and rightfully so, maybe I could save you the time. Thanks guys, either way.
Andruw25
To clarify what I'm hoping to do, it's really just facial or body appearances if need be. People can fix their own equipment really, and I'd be happy to post suggestions for stances & deliveries as I have in the appropriate thread. HypnoxXx
Andruw---if you'd like to list off the top 100 prospects that are incorrect and then post a link to their picture, that'd be fantastic. I was under the impression that all of the top 100 prospects in the game merely had fake names and everything else was matched up with their real-life counterparts... To keep it nice and simple, I'll just list the face number, hair style number, etc. As you said, only for the ones that need some work, which I would wager a guess that it's the minority of the Top 100. Most of the prospects are pretty good. But then there's guys like Felix Hernandez of the Mariners, BA's top pitching prospect. He's a very light skinned Venezuelan, but the game has him with the darkest skin tone so he's almost unrecognizable. Other players may just benefit from another face, but I'd love to put the work in to make them look as accurate as possible...and so you guys can concentrate on the important stuff as you have been! bbythepier
Thanks for the help Andruw25 Braves Reminder: Everyone has TBS, so I see enough of these guys too I like Smoltz and Hudson the way they are. Every scouting report matches up to their stuff. Smoltz’s cruddy changeup will balance out his 3 90+ pitches and yes Hudson throws a sinker AND a split. Hudson- changed changeup trajectory Hampton- made his 4-seam tail and changed 2-seam to curve, which is in every scouting report. (I even went to MLB.TV archives to get the speed.) Thomson-he is a sinkerball, so I switched the effectiveness of 4-seam and sinker. Gave him his cutter (which is in every scouting report). Reitsma- Look at this report: “Guys with this stuff don’t come down the pike too often. His fastball is 94 to 96 mph and runs in on people. He’s got a very good changeup, but he doesn’t throw it enough and his curveball can really lock up a hitter. With his stuff, you can’t figure out why he comes in and gives up four runs, which he does more often than he should.†I increased the change (51 rated in game ) and decreased the curve a tad, made the 4-seam tail. Ramirez-“…he’s got a real good screwball-changeup…â€- Just fiddled with his change Powell-“…quick but flat slider…†– changed the trajectory Gryboski- “Is a situational reliever whose sinker ranks among the league’s best†This guy is like millenium’s Bauer, lots of sink on fastball, so changed 2-seam to sinker with 1-7. His slider was a little overdone, barely gets any mention in the scouting. Downgraded his 4-seam. Martin- This dude is getting jipped in the game. 3 straight years of solid stats. “Curveball is more of a slurve with sweeping actionâ€- changed it to slurve and trajectory “nasty little sliderâ€- improved it Fastball- downgraded control a tad. Left it straight, it has no tail. Kolb- increased his 62 rated changeup a tad. Colon- see below Already posted this stuff back in the depths when it was getting’ skipped over MLB-Braves R. Colon “…saw his velocity increase to 92-95 mph…considerable improvement with the consistency and movement on his slider and splitter…became more of a P than thrower…remains a little raw…†Jay Powell “…heavy SINKING fastball that tops out at 92 mph…has a quick but FLAT slider…†Reitsma “…throws heavy, BORING fastball that tops out at 95 mph…delivers the changeup w/ excellent arm speed and gets good SINKING action…†Everybody else looks pretty good. Hit this link to see pitches and sims http://img170.echo.cx/my.php?image=bravessuggestions9ff.jpg HypnoxXx, I hope this is easier. It took me 7 minutes to build the collage of screen captures instead of typing.
HypnoxXx
BBY you continue to amaze. Depending on how fast you can whip through these, I think I'll wait and upload v 1.1 after you finish all 30.
Millennium
BBY you continue to amaze. Depending on how fast you can whip through these, I think I'll wait and upload v 1.1 after you finish all 30. To be honest, I think you should wait until BBY is done with them as well. BTW, BBY, while I am at it: Erik Bedard - The game against TB was on ESPN2 last night, and Jeff Bradley made some interesting comments. He said Bedard actually had 5 pitches, even though 3 of them are fastball variations. He said Bedard, when throwing fastball, threw a 91-92 mph Cutter almost exclusively to right handers, an 86-88 mph 2-seamer very seldomly almost as a change of pace fastball with some movement, and the 4-seamer was a seldom used pitch when behind in the count. If you take the amount he throws each pitch, they would have been in this order: Cutter - 91-92mph Curve - 76-79 mph 4-seamer - 93-94 mph Circle Change (they showed Bedard's grip on this, and Bradley called it a CCH) - 77-79 mph 2-Seamer - 86-88 mph What's your take on how to show that in a user game without messing up stats? I would almost think to give his fastball Cutter movement and elminate his 4-seamer. Also for Tampa Bay: Mark Hendrickson was throwing his heat at about 89-90 last night, and his change-up shouldbe 78-80. By the time most of you read this, Joey Gathrigt should be optioned back to AAA, and the fersh-off-suspension Alex Sanchez should be starting in CF for Tampa. Gathrigt's biggest flaw was his throwing accuarcy, so that may need to be lower (didn't check it out in-game yet). Hyp - Those CAP's should be ready for you tonight. I'll throw them up at my Comcast site so you can DL them whenever you feel.
