bbythepier
LOL jb, I'm gonna have to make a folder on my favorites for Ultimate rosters if you keep startin' new threads. Thanks Hyp, I sure hope this stuff draws more fans to your roster than drive them away. I enjoy the increased realism among pitchers, anyways. I have no idea how the public feels, but I hope some do. It's not Pirate's SBC, but it's fun to "mix up" your "stuff" like the pros do. Millenium, Thanks for the stuff on Bedard. I'll mix it in somehow on the O's tonight (my next team in line). I went to last night's game on MLB.TV and it was a different broadcast so I couldn't see the stuff, but OF COURSE I'll take your word. I can tell you're not a homer. Check out this scouting report from the telecast I captured. I like Bedard, but if his changeup is excellent, then Lowry's is downright astronomical. When it does become "excellent", then he'll really be something. This is a good example of using my "baseball sense" filter. Some TV hosts can really pour on the "syrup" heavy, in case their family is watching, I guess. I'm not so sure about Gathright going down. He's may have a shot to stay. What's up with your boy Kline? I wouldn't start complaining about the town when your ERA is up aroud Iverson's scoring avg.

abacusand13south
jb I dont understand why you think we would need a new thread if you cant find the place where you last left off then just favorite like im sure everyone else does. I for one do not beleive we need a new thread, look what the last one did, its pretty much died and I beleive it has driven people away from helping with corrections. now back to business 2 little nuggets from wednesday, frank brooks was claimed off waivers from the dodgers by the braves, in the rosters brooks is listed as a starter, he should be a releiver, not sure if bbythpier saw it or not but during yesterday's braves game tom martin continued to suck as he has all year long, lefties are hitting like .800 off of him and i dont beleive he held anyone scoreless yet this year, but back to brooks, brooks being claimed off of waivers was announced on tbs during martins suckfest so at that time pete and don began to run down brooks credentials, they wernt very impressive, but the last line of his bio they were just ecstatic about " effective against left handed hitters" they figure that brooks will be joining the braves soon. And something that I am very happy about Pronk or as most of you may know him as Travis Hafner was signed to a three year deal, here are the details.Hafner gets $500,000 this season (a $122,600 raise), $2.5 million next year and $3.75 million in 2007. Cleveland has a $4.75 million option for 2008 with a $250,000 buyout. This is another very good signing for GM Mark Shapiro. Hafner should have easily eclipsed $6.25 million in arbitration in 2006 and '07. Also, the Indians will control Hafner's rights for 2008 whether they exercise the option or not. Not sure how you would handle that contract in the rosters hypp but there it is.
jbmagicfan
For Previous Days Transactions go here: http://fantasybaseball.rotoworld.com/conte...s.asp?sport=MLB 4/13/05 Transactions. Arizona Diamondbacks Robby Hammock - Catcher Diamondbacks re-signed catcher-infielder Robby Hammock to a minor league contract. Hammcock, who underwent surgery in February on a torn labrum, is about two months away from playing for Triple-A Tucson. Atlanta Braves Frank Brooks - Relief Pitcher Braves claimed LHP Frank Brooks off waivers from the Dodgers. Brooks still projects as a useful reliever, though no team that gets him seems all that interested in holding on to him when it comes time to free up a 40-man roster spot. The Braves will assign him to Triple-A Richmond. Boston Red Sox Curt Schilling - Starting Pitcher Red Sox activated RHP Curt Schilling from the 15-day disabled list. Schilling will start tonight against the Yankees. Kevin Youkilis - Third Baseman Red Sox optioned third baseman Kevin Youkilis to Triple-A Pawtucket. Youkilis is clearly one of Boston's top 13 position players, but he doesn't deserve to play over Bill Mueller and there wasn't going to be many opportunities to get him at-bats off the bench. He'll return the first time someone tweaks something. Cleveland Indians Travis Hafner - Designated Hitter Indians signed first baseman-designated hitter Travis Hafner to a three-year, $7 million contract with a club option for 2008. Hafner gets $500,000 this season (a $122,600 raise), $2.5 million next year and $3.75 million in 2007. Kansas City Royals Joe McEwing - Second Baseman Royals purchased the contract of infielder Joe McEwing from Triple-A Omaha. McEwing will serve as the Royals' 25th man until either Mark Teahen or Chris Truby comes off the disabled list. Mark Teahen - Third Baseman Royals placed third baseman Mark Teahen on the 15-day disabled list with lower back strain. Tony Graffanino will replace Teahen as the Royals' primary third baseman and will likely hit second most of the time. If Graffanino stays hot, it's possible Teahen won't return as a starter. Texas Rangers Nick Regilio - Relief Pitcher Rangers recalled RHP Nick Regilio from Triple-A Oklahoma. Regilio's stay only figures to last a day. Carlos Almanzar is expected to rejoin the Rangers tomorrow. R.A. Dickey - Relief Pitcher Rangers placed RHP R.A. Dickey on the 15-day disabled list with right triceps inflammation. If it's just inflammation, Dickey could be ready to return as soon as his 15 days are up. Fortunately, the Rangers will soon get Carlos Almanzar and Frank Francisco back. (Martin has only pitched 2 innings, of course he may not get much more at this rate ) The thing is I dont even like the braves that much, its just it seems whenever there is no other games being televised, that they are on tv and plus it is usually quality baseball, and I respect them for not always being the most talented team but continuing to win with all the roster turnover they have. Yea I wasnt really suggesting that martin be made god awful, he said after the game that he hasnt been comfortable with his curveball this year and it has really showed. Ive always liked martin back to his indians days its just he looks like a different pitcher this year. Funny story about martin when he was with the indians a few years back he wasnt really that bad but he wasnt really good either and then came the injuries and he sat out probably 2 years. Then paul shuey gets traded to the dodgers in july and then during the offseason the dodgers are making it well known that they want lefties ( because bonds was becoming the huge power threat he is now) so shuey tells them that he has a friend namd tom martin who is pretty good ball player and all he has been doing is fishing so hes got the time to play baseball, so the dodgers give him a try out and well we all know what happened after that, martin becomes a great lefty specialist and now martin, shuey, shawn green, and few other current and former dodgers created a sunglass model that is used for fishing and baseball and now pretty much the entire indians orginization uses the glasses.( What else are you going to do during the summer on lake erie)
lilfisch
small correction... The batting stance of (my) Detroit Tigers player Omar Infante should be changed. His batting stance should be changed to Renteria (?). It is perfect for him. Also... I'm trying to find the perfect stance for Dimitri Young and just can't seem to do it. I don't like the simply squatting one. Any ideas, post them? Great work everyone... I'm just glad I could help. And the hell with everyone that talks crap about us. They can go to hell. abacusand13south
Howry- I see no mention of an 85 controlled changeup. In fact no mention of a changeup at all. He does throw the “occasional splitterâ€, but that should be low rated. T: No changeup, splitter instead rated in high 60s. Three pitches: Fastball, slider, splitter. During last nights game fsn ohio had a segment on howrys pitches and he was showing his grips, he showed them in this order and I would assume its best to worst, 4seam 2seam slider and splitter. HypnoxXx
Yes, the Round Rock error will be (already is) fixed... I'm also throwing around the idea of creating "Fake Fake", the worst player to ever play baseball, and around 50 of his friends to join the FA list...While this doesn't stop the game from creating more fakes for a dynasty, it will give them less room to make some (I counted something like 66 fakes were created after I sent in a full 244 man FA list) Javier Lopez claimed by the DBacks! Take that Rockies! miget--I didnt get anything from you...which is fine, because for some reason, I cant get .mep files via email anymore, my PC tries to DL them as text files and they dont work with MVPEdit...so if you have AIM or Yahoo or something, PM me your name, and you can send them to me that way... Since the game does allow 25 players for all teams, maybe its creating players to fill in minor leagues? I dunno, just a thought.

I'll do some work later tonight and post my progress probably by Sunday. I work a ton on Friday/Saturday so I don't want you to think I'm going anywhere! I've got BA's Handbook, MLB TV, and some buddies with access to Prospectus, so this should be fun. Appearances will be the priority, but if I run across some stances or deliveries that would make that prospect look and play more accurately, I'll post that too. bbythepier
Posted earlier Everything in quotes are not my words MLB-Baltimore R. Bauer: “…SINKING 89-92 mph fastball…†E. Bedard: “…fastball reaches and has late MOVEMENT…SHARP-BREAKING curve…average changeup…†Cabrera: “…spins a big curveball that breaks straight down…†J. Julio: “…has an explosive fastball that can reach 100 mph BUT HE’S ALL OVER THE PLACE…†(Lindy’s Scouting, p. 107) “overpowering BUT ERRATIC and will always STRUGGLE w/ COMMAND†(S.N. Ultimate Scouting Guide, p.102) Hyp-llc, I’m sorry but Julio is given way too much command in the attributes. 93 command w/ slider? 77 command w/ fastball? No way. Stats in ’04: 4.57 ERA, 39 BB in 59 inn. Hasn’t been dominant since ’02. Look at the career stats. (sorry millennium and other O’s fans, can’t rate on potential) S. Kline: “…slider is his best pitch…â€, “very effective against lefties w/ a tight running slider…†Translation: His slider should be his best pitch not his sinker, even though that is good too. You seriously may want to look at Ponson’s stuff. He still has “ace†stuff. After last year? Dropping to 4th in the rotation after spring? If you do some positive adjusting for some coming out of spring, then the vice versa is true, right? I have my opinion on Sidney. In the Sporting News Guide, he rated #81 among starting pitchers. Seems professionals have their opinion too. (In a fantasy draft he's about # 50 best pitcher) On the other hand, I think B. Ryan’s slider should be up in Lidge’s range. 122 K in 87 innings. For an “any-situation†lefty. Are you kidding me? “…a sweeping slider that keeps on breaking…â€, “…sharp slider w/ excellent bite…â€, “almost unhittable against lefties…†O's updates: Daniel Cabrera was throwing a 92 mph 2-seam fastball tonight. Not a great amount of movement, but it was there. Rick Bauer throws in the 89-92 mph range with his fastball, and his sinker was around 87 tonight. Bauer- added sinker, made it best, lowered others a tad Bedard- added millenium’s suggestion via ESPN2 telecast. Kept them low due to ’04 stats and projections (~5.00) Cabrera- Gave fastball natural tail, made “Hard curve†11-5, Couldn’t find 2-seam via last outing vs. TB-Kazmir (MLB.TV). Only 3 pitches: Fastball (2 mph slower while in stretch), hard curve, changeup (used it exactly twice in 5 innings, yes I counted) Chen- few tinkers, same pitches Grimsley- lowered fastball rating, gave slider less control more mov’t (I think, can’t remember exactly) Julio- lowered all commands, gave slider more mov’t to compensate Kline- made slider better than sinker, lowered fastball to give all 3 pitches solid 80+ ratings (excellent track record, regardless of ’05 start) Lopez- Gave slurve via millenium’s “live†experience, increased ratings Parrish- took away 2-seam which is nonsense because his fastball is straight-as-an-arrow, kept curve & slider (used scouting reports for pitches, last outing vs. Yankees, 4-8-05, for speeds)[classic Mazzili rubbing his forehead and Miller “crossing his arms†after he walked 2nd of 3 batters to load bases of blowout. Hasn’t pitched since. Can you say wildness led to doghouse?] Ponson- lowered his sh*t, his outing tonight sure didn’t change my and 100’s of scouts opinions= “He’s a meathead with a golden arm†Ryan- increased his slider 2 points in movement and fastball to give 2 90+ rated pitches to match stats. As an oriole fan said on this thread-“He’s plain nasty†Find pitch changes and 3 season sims here: http://img170.echo.cx/my.php?image=oriolespost1nb.jpg Other changes: Couple more quick A's/O's hits: - Tejada's stance - Helton holds his hands too high. Ironically, the Chavez stance is perfect for Tejada. - I just tried a Slurve for Lopez, 63 control, 70 movement, 76 velocity with the same 11 to 5 movement. It is a perfect match for what he was throwing today. - Mark Ellis' stance should be Generic or Vina. Get that Bent crap out of here. one minor change you might want to make Dave McCarty on the Red Sox, his first position should be 1B and second position OF, also his defense is at 55 but he's got a pretty good glove. i'd increase his defensive rating a bit maybe to 65 or 70. "The Red Sox use McCarty mostly in the late innings for his defense. Has an excellent arm with good carry. Has above-avergae range, good hands and a knack for digging balls out of the dirt. Also can fill in and play average defense in LF, RF"-S.N. Ult. Guide p. 17 T: McCarty defense=11/15 fielding, 10/15 range, throw str.=10/15, throw acc.=9 Just trying to make a new friend of the thread. Acosme: Working on your Mets. HypnoxXx
AAA is now finito! What does that mean? Can a "reasonable non-Met fan" buy the simmed stats while retaining the pitchers' correct repertoire's. Pedro- 3.00 ERA, 228 IP, 17-8 3.15 ERA, 220 IP, 17-10 3.98 ERA, 208 IP, 12-11 Heredia- 4.87 ERA, 40 IP, 0-3 6.13 ERA, 101 IP, 7-5 5.28 ERA, 92.0 IP, 2-3 etc. Are the numbers believable? Do they pass the "smell" test? Are the pitcher's out pitch their best pitch? I like where these numbers are, so my answer is yes.
