bbythepier
It's always nice to follow a shoelessjoe post full of understanding and patience. Who's stopping you from starting? EA has a great roster to work with, right? Didn’t want to come to the thread today because my roster boss’ team, the Snakes, broke my boy Noah’s 16 game unbeaten streak, on a Vizquel error no less. (Watching the Snakes and Giants at SBC nowadays is like watching paint dry. No Bonds, Big Unit or Schilling saps the buzz out of the games). Abacus, I don’t know what you “don’t see†in Westbrook, but that 0-4 record is the biggest misnomer in the league. Potpourri suggestion of the day: Larry Walker- STL, Throwing strength=10/15 Why? We are rating on a 5-year old reputation. From S.N. Ult. Guide: “Has an accurate arm and average strengthâ€, p. 59. Last night game vs. Cubs, Steve Stone,ESPN2 announcer, “Walker let Edmonds catch the ball because he now has a better arm than Walker.†Bbythepier, How do you watch so many games? TIVO MLB-Detroit (pitch changes, additions, or deletion in bold) Bonderman- increased mov’t, changed traj. on change; increased control, decreased mov’t on slider, added curve Colyer- decreased control on 4-seam, decreased control on slider, increased mov’t on 2-seam Farnsworth- decreased control on fastball, slider and splitter, changed traj. on split German- decreased control on 4-seam Johnson- made 4-seam tail like 2-seam, increased mov’t on change, added curve, changed slider to slurve, deleted 2-seam Knotts- made 4-seam tail due to natural mov’t; added mov’t, decreased control to curve, swapped velocities on sinker and 4-seam deleted 2-seam Ledezma- decreased control on 4-seam and gave it tail, increased mov’t on 2-seam, changed slurve to slider Maroth- made 4-seam tail, increased control on change and slider, increased mov’t on curve and slider, changed 2-seam to cutter Percival- decreased control on 4-seam and curve Robertson- decreased control on slider and 4-seam, made 4-seam tail, increased mov’t on change Urbina- made 4-seam tail, dcreased control on slider; decreased control and mov’t on change, deleted splitter Walker- made 4-seam tail, changed curve to slurve Find Tigers pitch tweaks and 4 season sims here: http://img170.echo.cx/my.php?image=tigers9jb.jpg Bbythepier, how can you tell what fastball moves and which are straight, without watching them? Franklyn German- “His fastball gets up there at 96, but it’s straight as an arrow, nothing happens. As good as a 96 mph fastball is, if it’s straight, big league hitters are all over it.†Nate Robertson- “…lives on the outside of the plate with a naturally tailing fastball and now will cut it to run on them.†Can you see the difference? Jeff Francis was fine after slider change. On to Marlins: Bbythepier, why don’t you give D-Train credit for his great start? Look at his career stats in the first half vs. second half and post him on this thread. Then we’ll talk. Did I mention Ichiro’s average the last two Aprils was under .250? So Thome with 0 homers has no power? Oops make that 1 HR after today’s game.
bbythepier
Two more suggestions while they're fresh in my mind: Derek Lowe allowed 36 of 38 runners to successfully steal last year, the league's worst (today's LA Times), and 5-for-5 Padres SBs last night. Jake Peavy had 26-for-28 successful steals against and runners are 1-for-1 this year. While I can understand if Piazza was behind the plate, Varitek and Hernandez are no slouches. We can not incorporate speed to the plate in the game (i.e., slidestep), so our only way to show this is with the Pickoff attribute. They are the league's worst, shouldn't they be rated as such? My answer is yes. Lowe and Peavy pickoff = 1/15 I will type up the Marlin changes after the game tonight and include it in tomorrow's team. I think I will skip to Seattle while Moyer is fresh in my mind. He'll be the only pitcher (that I know of) that will have both changeups (circle and straight, even though technically they are all circles), each at different speeds. I did this to his ratings already and tried to hit him and its maddening trying to "time him", which will be just like real life. It's fun though. Find the Marlins pitch tweaks and 4 season sims: http://img170.echo.cx/my.php?image=marlins6dp.jpg The Marlins have some of the nastiest moving pitches in the bigs: Beckett's curve, Burnett's slider, Leiter's cutter, Mecir's screwy, Mota's change (taught to him by Gagne), that is just the way it is. Good luck when playing this team in MVP.
Snash13
So your just giving up? Oh no why are you using the import feature in mvpedit? its full of bugs and thats where the errors are coming from, that and passing the roster out to 5 million people to edit doesnt help much especially if they dont know what they are doing and taking shortcuts like importing players you can very easily screw the whole set up with 1 wrong click from a rookie not knowing what they are doing. Why not type them all in manually overwriting the players already there? it would save a whole lot of headaches and the more people handling this the more chances you are gonna have these errors. Its safe to say this roster set wont be out until September or October just in time for Madden am I right? Most of us want to start our franchises so bad. Ive had enough of you. you want rosters done ? do them yourself, you think you know a better way to do them ? proove it.

jbmagicfan
bbythepier hi cant wait you to do the dodgers. your knowledge is great and so happy you working on the roster too for pitching. this roster is going to be the best realistic roster ever. Shoeless Joe you getting on my nerves. Why don't you shut the F...Up!!! can someone ban this guy. he has no right to attack the roster makers here. there working hard. Saintbernard
Here's my 2 cents, Yes Shoeless is a big Jerk and needs to put up or shut up, but Let's also be completely hnest here, He's got some serious points, First off, every Year with MVP, and HH there's always been a group roster effort attemppted and they never turn out to work withut being buggy as all hell. 2) No offense to the (the Guy's name is slipping my mind right now) Creator, but MVPEDIT is crap this Year. it's causing more problems than it's helping. I've been making my own Rosters for my own uses, and i started out using mvp edit, and have since given up. I am now doing all my edits in game, and haven't had even the slightest problem since then. Again, this is only my 2 cents worth, so take it for what it's worth.

Millennium
problem fixed, I'll start up again tomorrow. I had a feeling that once you posted that there was an issue, one of the many users supporting the making of this roster would use his computer knowledge to figure out what's wrong. Glad to see you are back on track, llmac.

If you're not, it's scary to think there's two clowns roaming MVP roster boards making these asinine comments. If these rosters are so bad, you clearly won't be using them; so what's your purpose here, and more so, why are you badmouthing them? Solution  ...get a life. Shoelessjoe=BadGun That was the exact same thought that i stated on last saturday in my long winded post at that douche bag and since then he has disapeared but I guess he returns when he feels that the roster is just moving along to smooth and he wants to try and knock the train off the tracks, but as anyone knows the more and more you try to derail a train, you will eventually get sucked under it and it will in turn shred your *** apart. I guess shoeless just cant avoid scandals, but If you build it (these awesome rosters) the idiots (shoeless joe, BadGun) will come.
x94blair3
This is going to be one heck of a roster. The attention to detail with pitch types (and movement) even is going to really deepen the experience. Awesome work everyone. Nick

Calling you guys "hackers" was kind of a give away for me personally. He's here to crusade against roster editors using MVPedit because his precious dynasty was a mess last year...obviously wasn't using Total Minors! Anyway, after converting all of ZERO people to his agenda at OS, he probably sacked up and came to the source of the project. Luckily sackless gun shoots blanks...all his efforts to discredit this roster set are easy to see through. 0-2 chief, keep it movin'.

The attention to detail with pitch types (and movement) even is going to really deepen the experience. Awesome work everyone. Nick Thanks Nick. I'll keep trucking. A couple of mistakes I found on the Marlins by trying to do them too fast. I mistakenly released Florida before “proofreading†done during little readme changes. New corrections: Burnett’s slider = 12-6 “downer knuckle-curveâ€, all attributes remain the same, just the name changes Source: type “A.J. Burnett knuckle-curve†into Google, from everything I’ve seen and read, he has shelved the slider after Tommy John. Post a 2004 or 2005 source if he still throws it and I’ll put it back. Leiter’s cutter is not a 90+ rated pitch anymore= lowered control to get to 89 rated Here’s one season sim after correction: Mota’s slider is not 92 mph= 85 mph Find Florida corrections here: http://img170.echo.cx/my.php?image=flcorrections8ma.jpg MLB- Florida Alfonseca- made 4-seam tail lowered control and velocity 2 mph, deleted 2-seam Beckett- the sinker is never mentioned so deleted, increased mov’t on curve and change, increased control on change, made 2-seam have sink trajectory Bump- made 4-seam tail, decreased change, increased curve Burnett- Please forgive me, his big-breaker is a knuckle-curve, slider was given up after Tommy John (very common), 4-seam and 2-seam mentioned, but no cutter (deleted) Jones- change is BS so deleted, slider changed to cutter, 4-seam given tail Leiter- lowered 4 seam 2 mph and control, deleted slider, made 2-seam a straight change Mecir- lowered screw, made 4-seam tail, deleted change Mota- too many pitches, deleted splitter and sinker, uses circle change now Rielding- change is bogus so deleted, curve mov’t decreased, 4-seam increased by 2 mph and made to tail Spooneybarger- cutter increased in mov’t, change and fastball decreased Valdez- slider mov’t and control decreased, 4-seam made to tail, 2-seam changed to cutter, change control decreased Willis- slider increased in mov’t, 4-seam made to tail. MLB- Seattle Franklin- all stuff decreased Guardado- deleted change because splitter is used as change, decreased slider mov’t, 4-seam made to tail Hasegawa- ratings are 2 years old: 4-seam given tail, lowered forkball2-seam to sinker, deleted circle change Madritsch- increased mov’t on slider and change, lowered 3 mph on 4-seam and made to tail Mateo- lowered control on fastball and slider Meche- curve changed to knuckle-curve and lowered control, lowered 2-seam, increased mov’t on straight change Moyer- lowered his c. change, changed 2-seam to cutter, 4-seam given tail, decreased curve a tad, slurve changed to second changeup Nelson- rating are at least 2 years old: lowered 2 mph on fastball and made to “boreâ€, lowered 2-seam, deleted change and changed slider to slurve Pineiro- I’ve never seen the boring 2-seam with his high arm angle and no mention in scouting reports, only straight 4-seam so deleted 2-seam: increased control on c. change, decreased control on fastball, changed slider to cutter, “…throws a cutter-like slider.â€, “…Slider is more like a cut fastball…†Putz- What everyone on this team throws a circle change? Wrong, slider and curve decreased Sele- decreased control on curve, lowered 4-seam 2 mph, increased change Villone- decreased control on 4-seam after sims, didn’t lower by mistake, change give more mov’t and fade traj. bbythepier
The cubs are in some crap now nomar has torn his groin muscle from the bone so hes out a minimum of 2-3 months probably longer, so now neiffi perez is the starter at short and ronny cedeno has been called up to back up short. Maybe they should try hairston at short when walker comes back and they could have possibly the worst fielding middle infield in the majors. I don't speak for Trues and cubsfaninfla, but a lot of Cubs fans would have said they had the worst with Nomar in there. I want to (and do) feel sorry for him, but I go home to cheery posts from shoelessjoe, he goes home to pretty and athletic Mia. My sympathy dries up real quick. Any bets on the Brewers ending streak against "lollipopper" Reuter? Needless to say I won't be going to this one.

GamerPyle
Gil Meche Seattle was hitting 97 on the radar consitently today so I would think about upping the speed of his fastball to 96. Julio Mateo has 4 pitches Mateo has a deep repertoire for a reliever, with a low-90s fastball, a hard slider, two-seamer and splitter. The latter two pitches give him weapons to keep lefthanded hitters in check.
