Also, I know I've asked a few people, but I've made the decision to re-add players who signed with or were sold to Japan this offseason. I need help remembering some...

Who I remember: Pedro Feliciano, Gabe Kapler, Shane Spencer, Adam Riggs, Tony Batista.

you left out the Dodgers on your update list. :)

juan1919,

Did I say that Cordero is way underrated around the league? When Francisco comes back, it'll be a 7-inning game for you guys.

hopefully Mahay's arm doesnt fall of before then, and Almanzar needs to go down to AAA when Frankie gets back cause he is totally messed up right now.

It covers all the pitchers that aren't fake on all the rosters so far. I don't THINK it includes the guys that llmac has recently created that are in the low minors but it should cover every real pitcher on the last release after he's finished. Then I think he's going back to do the hitters after that release is made, and then I'm sure he'll check over everything for a 3rd, 4th, 5th time or however many that will make it before the release after that.

Wow, are you serious? That's unbelievable. Last time I checked this thread you had the corruption problem so I was scared :-)

This set is gonna be great, I'm especially impressed at the pitcher repertoire fixing - incorrect and inaccurate pitches are one of the biggest problems in most roster sets.

Say, what is a good way to simulate guys who throw an eephus pitch? Just a really slow changeup? Kaz Tadano threw something like that I believe; last year I switched his delivery to Nomo's also and it looked accurate. I think he hasn't been edited since he is in AAA?

A few transactions one everyone will likely know but the other two i hightly doubt espn or anyone else picks up on it.

White Sox signed infielder Greg Norton to a minor league contract.

Diamondbacks recalled LHP Javier Lopez from Triple-A Tucson.

Diamondbacks optioned LHP Mike Gosling to Triple-A Tucson.

Rockies signed RHP Denny Stark to a minor league contract.

Actually tadano has had his motion changed to a more realistic one, but is missing his eephus like change up. possibly bbythpier could start doing the pitcher that are currently in triple a as well as the majors when he does his tweaks for each team.

First baseman Damon Minor, who recently signed a minor league deal with the Pirates, is expected to join the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles of Japan.

Minor wasn't going to be much of a candidate to make the Pirates as a bench player.

I haven't heard anything about this guy since mid december when this was posted.

MLB- Houston (pitch additions, deletions, and changes in bold)

Backe- lowered the control on 4-seam (90+ ?), changed cutter to 2-seam, decreased curve, increased slider

Clemens- increased control on 4-seam, increased 2-seam, changed changeup to curve, splitter is his change

Duckworth- he lost some off his fastball so now his “curve is his best pitchâ€, the sinker is a tailing fastball, deleted sinker

Franco- “…his signature changeup looks and acts like a screwball…â€, deleted screwball and gave changeup the movement of a screwball

Harville- added curve, increase velocity and decreased control on 4-seam, decreased control on slider

Lidge- in every scouting report and every appearance I’ve watched he’s a 2-pitch pitcher, deleted changeup

Oswalt- I know he doesn’t throw a knuckle-curve (added) but listen to these two scouting reports:

“…Will throw his curves at different speeds…â€, “…throws…a power curve with excellent 12-to-6 bite, a let-up “Bugs Bunny†curve…â€

The “Bugs Bunny†curve is the one I rated the best, but the “power†curve is also rated high. My Texan friend Brett says it’s been called the “Coffin Curveâ€, because when batters see it they just freeze like they’re…you guessed it…dead.

Pettitte- lowered his ratings all around, he’s good just not that good

Qualls- his change is a split and the sinker is nonsense, changed sinker to split and deleted change

Springer- his slider isn’t that good and changed the 2-seam to his split, decreased control on 4-seam and made to tail

Wheeler- his 2-seam is his “sinking fastball†and every scouting report says he has an “solid-average†slider and occasional changeup, so I added them

MLB- Kansas City

I’m not insulting the Royals or their fans. The first 3 season sims the team went 62-100, 62-100, 63-99. That sounds about right, I’m sorry. Let’s go down their pitchers. Remember, question me if it looks wrong. I ACTUALLY LIKE it when I get some contentions.

Affeldt- This guy is a 5.00 ERA guy. The 4-seam was a little faster but control dramatically decreased. I can’t find the change in scouting reports or real life. deleted the change

Anderson- This guy gets roped (217 H in 166 innings). Decreased 4-seam and change. Made change fade, changed cutter to curve, gave slider 1 more mov’t, pickoff=15, voted best in BA poll of major leaguers this spring

Bautista- 4-seam made to tail and decreased control & 1 mph, sinker increased a tad, curve decreased a tad (yes this guy’s stuff is nasty, but where are the results: MLB-8.49 ERA, AA~4.00 ERA in ’04)

Camp- yes made 4-seam tail and left 2-seam because he has a “sinking†2-seamer (4-seam can not be made to sink), added slider, decreased curve, change made to fade

Cerda- 1 mov’t on slider and change? (3.15 ERA in ’04) ,increased change and slider, decreased 4-seam

Field- 90 rated fastball? Uh, no. 3 mov’t slider? Uh no. decreased 4-seam, increased slider

Greinke- Let’s relax a little. 4.00 ERA on last place team. OK, well done. 93 rated fastball? Too high, sorry. Pittches at 93, 94 mph, not 95, 96mph. Decreased 4-seam, increased mov’t on curve (a “big breakerâ€) but 62 mph is too slow, more like mid 60’s, slider and 2-seam increased a tad.

Hernandez- given hard sinker and splitter he throws, hard guy to project with no ’04 stats (surgery), decreased 4-seam

Lima- again lets not overrate here. 90+ change and 87 rated 4-seam. Too high, IMO. Decreased both. 1 mov’t on curve? why not call it a change? changed curve to slurve and increased mov’t to 7, decreased 2-seam a tad, 4-seam made to tail

MacDougal- his “hard†breaking ball is a hard 12-to-6 curve not a 12-to-6 slider

Sullivan- submariner: no straight pitches, made 4-seam to tail, gave 2-seam more movement and less control, changed slider to slurve and gave more mov’t

Wood- made 4-seam tail, deleted 2-seam, added cutter and splitter, changed curve to slider, change is like Hernandez’s = dogsh*t

MLB- Milwaukee

Adams- lowered 4-seam 2 mph, made to tail like 2-seam (no straight ball), changed 2-seam to changeup, changed slider to slurve

Bottalico- his repertoire was bigger than what’s given but don’t confuse that with more effective added change, changed 2-seam to slider, lowered 4-seam control and 2 mph, made to tail

Capuano- 88 rated fastball? For 5.00 ERA? No. his fastball looks and sounds straight, lowered control and 2 mph, lowered change by 3 mph to increase differential, changed 2-seam to slider, added curve

Davis- look at his stats, this guy is good. increased 4-seam 2 mph and control a tad, increased change and made to fade, increased curve and control of cuter

De la Rosa- decreased 4-seam 2 mph and control, increased change

Glover- So this guy with 3 starts in ’04 and ERA in AAA around 6 or 7 has a 90 rated fastball? Say what? significantly lowered 4-seam, lowered control on curve and slider

Obermueller- 6.00 ERA in 20 MLB starts in ’04 warrants a high 80s 4-seam? No breaking balls? Lowered 4-seam a lot, made to tail and deleted 2-seam and added slider and curve

Phelps- 4.50-5 ERA back of the bullpen kind-of-guy, 85 rated fastball is too high, lowered 4-seam, increased curve and slider, change made to fade

Santos- just watched this guy shut Giants down (doesn’t mean I rated him on this one start), increased 4-seam 3 mph and lowered control, changed slider to “overhand†curve, added sinker, increased split and change

Sheets- I’ve read and watched, watched and read, I just don’t see the 2 fastballs. He has three pitches from what I see, two that are awesome (4-seam and curve) and one that is very good (change). Made his curve 96 rated, 4-seam 95 and change 85 or so. That’s his repertoire from what I can tell. Try to sit on one and hope you’re right. Otherwise, grab some pine, Meat.

Turnbow- he’s bad (5.00 ERA bullpen guy), but not that bad. 2 mov’t on change and 2-seam? Increased change, curve and 2-seam, decreased control on 4-seam.

Wise- changed slider to slurve, made 4-seam to tail, increased curve and change

Other quips-

Brian Anderson 90 stamina? Maybe after 2003 but not 2004. Should be 81 or 82. A little over 5 inn/ start.

Astro fans- Who is your setup man for Lidge? Ultimate has nobody assigned yet.

Twinkies are up next. My avatar is on the mound tonight (which means my *** is in an SBC seat tonight), so I may have do some makeup homework tomorrow night. Peace, I'm out.

First off guys, awsome work, I love using your rosters and cant wait till the next release. One thing that I noticed, EA probley did it but, everytime J. Buck comes up to bat, "Royals I think" the announcers say Brown. Thanks again guys.

BTW, I do have the Prospect Handbook if you guys need any research done. Thanks again.

Almost forgot this one for jbmagicfan and Dodger fans:

D.J. Houlton- LA

April 20, 2005

Houlton pitched well in Double-A last year, going 12-5, 2.94 with 159 strikeouts in as many innings, but it was his second stint there and he wasn't young for the level at 24. In 2003, he got hammered in his only crack at Triple-A, going 3-4, 5.40 with 48 strikeouts in 62 innings. He's a finesse righty who relies on his curveball and needs to do a better job of locating his high-80s fastball. While he has great competitiveness and work ethic, Houlton projects as a middle reliever. At some point, the Dodgers are going to want to carry more than 13 hitters, and Houlton's upside doesn't merit going out of their way to keep him.

Taken from: http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/columnists/askba.html

D.J. Houlton, RHP, Los Angeles Dodgers

Drafted 326th Overall (11th Rd), 2001 Draft, University of the Pacific

Bats R/Throws R

25 YO, 6'4", 220 lbs

Houlton is a rule 5 pick who has stuck with the Dodgers out of spring training and it looks like he'll be an integral part of a good major league pen, even after Eric Gagne's return pushes somebody back to the minors. He doesn't have the electric stuff you expect to see out of a rule 5 pitcher or an elite reliever. But he does mix in as many as 5 pitches and has a great feel for keeping hitters off balance. His command also makes up for his average stuff. His fastball only gets up to about 90. His curve has some promise. He also has a changeup, splitter, and a slider.

2004 Round Rock: 2.94 ERA, 159 K, 47 BB, 141 H, 14 HR, 159 IP

mL Career: 3.34 ERA, 521 K, 132 BB, 498 H, 56 HR, 546 IP

Nothing there really sticks out as a reason why he shouldn't be capable of succeeding as a long reliever and swing starter in the big leagues. His statistical profile even makes him look like the power pitcher he isn't. He simply looks like a good pitcher. I think it was a mistake for the Astros to leave him unprotected in the rule 5 draft. Bully for him and bully for Paul DePodesta. As if we needed another example pointing out how easy it is to find good relievers who don't carry huge price tags. I don't honestly know whether his long term role is as a reliever or in the back half of the rotation. It usually has as much to do with the other pitchers on the team and the mood of the manager as it does with the pitcher's abilities.

BBY -- I really don't think Houston has a definitive setup man...Chad Harville is the guy listed behind Lidge on RP depth charts and, oddly enough, he doesn't pitch the 8th. Instead, Chad Qualls, Russ Springer and John Franco have all been getting the holds and setting the table for Lidge. Since Franco is Houston's late inning lefty specialist, he can't really be deemed setup man. So really, it appears to be a tossup between Qualls and Springer...

A little more homework for you right now would be this...Who is the Giants #5 starter now that Williams just got shipped to Fresno?
