Interesting for everyone while they are waiting for rosters or just to pass time. Baseball america's past 15 years of top 100 prospects. Some names on there were real surprises there, for instance I was never aware that derrick gibson was such a prospect, he was a top 100 guy from '96 to '99. Gibson was a top 100 for four strait years thats insane. A little gibson note also, in the rosters he is listed as 25 I dont beleive he is that young anymore.

Kansas City Royals

Ken Harvey - First Baseman

Royals recalled first baseman Ken Harvey from from Triple-A Omaha.

The Royals won't stay at 11 pitchers for long, but Harvey is probably back for good. Expect him to get a lot of playing time between first base and DH, with Mike Sweeney also seeing more time at DH. That he's back already looks like bad news for Matt Diaz, who hasn't made too strong of an impression since being added last week. Diaz and Emil Brown are probably fighting for one roster spot since the Royals are likely to go back to 12 pitchers soon.

Shawn Camp - Relief Pitcher

Royals optioned RHP Shawn Camp to Triple-A Omaha.

Camp has given up four runs and gotten one out over his last three appearances. For the year, he had allowed 12 runs -- nine earned -- in 6 2/3 innings.

I swear, MVP Baseball and MVPEdit are the most user unfriendly demon tools known to man.

I hope you've told this to rglass, who spent a lot of his personal time creating, updating and otherwise working on the program from his own free time to no guaranteed reward.

You get what you pay for, and I love MVPEdit.

RGlass already hates me LoL.

Really now, I also "insulted" the game. And without that, none of us would be here period. I dont hate MVPEdit, nor do I think it sucks or anything just as much as none of us "hate" MVP Baseball merely because its buggy. I've commented several times on how MVPEdit makes our lives easier (I wrote the spiel on page one thanking everyone including RGlass btw). There just are a lot of errors. Which isnt a big deal, not like its a horrible faulty program. It gets the job done.

Bottom line, I was half sarcastic. I figured using a term like "demon-tool" would hint at that. But I guess I was wrong.

The rockies shakup there roster some more. They have probably been the most active in terms of early season movement.

Rockies activated outfielder Dustan Mohr from the 15-day disabled list.

Rockies purchased the contract of RHP Jay Witasick from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Rockies optioned RHP Scott Dohmann to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Rockies optioned RHP Ryan Speier to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

and also, Mariners signed infielder Dave Hansen to a minor league contract.

Good night, ya'll are so slow!!!! My 6 year old will have children playing this game before you are finished.

Actually, just thought you might be interested in this site.

http://www.forecaster.ca/cbc/baseball/player.cgi?1430

It has scouting reports for TONS of guys, as well as career stats (minor league included) and includes many AAA, AA, and A guys. Who knows, it might not help at all, but maybe it will.

Great product by the way. I'm perfectly willing to wait for the final version, as long as it takes. A tip for those whining like 5 year old little girls, PLAY the game while you wait, improve your skills, work on your slider set, WATCH an actual baseball game. Don't cry. I'm trying to help out on the college project, but over the past couple weeks, work has been hectic, so things have gone a little slower than I would have liked on my end.

BBY, your baseball knowledge never ceases to amaze me. I don't agree with everything you say, but, your thoughts always appear to come across as unbiased and well researched.

The rest of ya, what can I say, thanks for your hard work.

Felix Hernandez should be fixed with the next update. When I went through the top 100-110 prospects in the game, I recommended changing his appearance to something much more appropriate for the Venezuelan.

It should be back a few pages back if you want to see for yourself...just use the face and hair numbers I listed.

The Cardinals signed RP Gabe White (I'm not sure about the contract details, but he is in Triple A Memphis). He is still on the Free Agent list in the last update. Also, the Cardinals have been using RP's Jimmy Journell, Randy Flores, and Carmen Cali who have all been looking pretty decent so far. You may want to look at their pitch types and their abilities which are pretty low. Just some suggestions. Thanks a lot.

Mariners AAA – Felix Hernandez (9, 1, 6, 1)

The numbers are for face, hair color, hair style, and facial hair. It's not perfect because his hair definitely identifies him quite a bit, but he's not black with the revision! I'm assuming these will be included with the next update; they've been great at doing all the small things in addition to the huge minor league initiative and the pitching changes.

sweet end to Miami-NJ game.

Finally, someone gives a post bigger than mine. Now I know Felix is indeed brown (like the "Felix" and "Hernandez" didn't give it away). OK, give me the mic for a second. (I got the Pirates and Padres comin').

Millenium,

I did a little "research" tonight. I went to Cabrera's start against TB earlier in the season and he threw that 11-5 overhand curve 85-86 mph on that gun. Then I went to the 1st inning of his last start vs. Toronto. He threw a 79 mph, 82 mph, and 84 mph to the first batter Cattalanotto. Same pitch, same batter, same radar gun. Point is his speeds to that pitch are about as regular as a 90 year old's bowel movements. As pretty as that picture is, 79-86 mph is a pretty large range. I'll let you pin the tail on that donkey.

Brewer fan,

I get home tonight, take a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale out of the fridge and sit down and flip on ESPN News. And here is Bottalico pitching to Pujols in the 7th with 2 on and he gets him with an OVERHAND CURVE. The pitch not mentioned in your source brewerfan.net or something. So I flip on the laptop and log in to MLB.TV and go to the 7th of YESTERDAY'S game to watch Mike Adams and see what's up. Here is my log of the at-bat to Jadier Molina, the 3rd batter he faced.

88 mph slider

88 mph slider

79 mph slurve

78 mph slurve

91 mph fastball

90 mph fastball

83 mph straight change

91 mph fastball

91 mph fastball (Molina singles)

Anybody out there going this guy is a true nut who just tries to prove everyone wrong! On the contrary, I'm that friend that yells at the announcer when Vin Scully says "He got him with a fastball" and it was really a change. Former pitchers just notice this stuff. Whenever I watch a football game with my cousin who was a college linebacker, he's yelling out audibles before the play happens. Same kind of "pickiness". I'm just a regular ol' guy who loves the nuances of pitching.

Hyp,

Thank you for ignoring my suggestion that Lackey's breaking ball was a SLURVE. I was going by the Angels colorman Rex Hudler on one of his telecasts. He must have been smokin' some of that hash he tries to sneak through airports. That pitch is a true SLIDER with a sharp break. Nice try, REXdog, you hyper Angels mascot.

Philly and Cardinal fans,

I posted this back on the thread that disappeared. I figured I better post it for my source on Madison's knuckle-curve and the changes I will soon do to Izzy, since I won't to get to see much of him now that he's on the DL.

Ryan Madson- PHI

Curve is a knuckle-curve

How do I know? Because I'm watching the game on MLB.TV right now and the announcers are talking about it.

Izzy (STL)-

That knuckle-curve/ curve duo is nonsense. He's thrown the 4-seam, cutter, and overhand regular curve, 12-6, 76 mph. He's throwing a 85 mph slider as well. Give him the 85 mph, 11-5, slider and shelve the knuckle-curve, make the regular curve 12-6, instead of 11-5.

Source: Same game as Madson post above.

I'll see if I can get the next teams posted before CSI starts.

I don't know if you've read back at all on our thread, but or resident pitcher guru is bbythepier...He is making adjustments to every pitcher at the major league level to better fit how they have performed in recent years. St. Louis is one of bby's last teams, keep your eye peeled for his update on the Cards' arms shortly.

Also, another guy for you to scout for me, bby--Just made Chris Begg down on AA Norwich. So toss him into the pile with Scott Munter on AAA Fresno (I'm keeping him there since we're assuming Williams gets called back up as soon as the Giants dont have a Thursday off).

Sorry Hyp and DMZ. I thought I saw Burnett and Johnston as the guys on the DL to add. I’ll pick up van B while doing another team. Who is the 5th starter? Who goes where? What do I look like, a Pirates fan?

MLB- Pittsburgh

Burnett- decreased control on 4-seam, fiddled with speeds on curve and slider to increase the differential between the 2

Johnston- decreased control on 4-seam and increased mov’t on 2-seam

Fogg- made 4-seam tail, change to fade, decreased slider a tad to make “curve is his best pitchâ€, deleted 2-seam since it was a bad rated pitch and wasn’t needed since 4-seam now tails (it doesn’t sink)

Gonzalez- is a true 2-pitch pitcher, deleted change and increased 4-seam and slider

Grabow- decreased control on 4-seam and increased control on “sinking 2-seam†and added slider and change

Meadows- made 4-seam tail and changed slider to curve, increased mov’t on 2-seam

Mesa- How come nowhere mentions his splitter? I assume he ditched it. Do I need to go to the tape? If so, tell me when and where, deleted split, decreased control on slider

Perez- just made him the stud he is. Yes I know he throws a wicked slider, but he does throw a slower curve he backdoors to righties added curve

Redman- he throws a tailing 2-seam AND a cutter, so added cutter, increased mov’t on change and made to fade, increased control on curve and 2-seam

Torres- he doesn’t throw a change, deleted change, decreased control on 4-seam

Vogelsong- decreased control on 4-seam but increased on change and curve, in fact flipped speeds on curve and change and curve a slurve

Wells- increased mov’t on change and curve but decreased on slider, changed curve traj.

Sent White and Williams down to AAA and replaced w/ Burnett and Johnston. I don’t know what McClendon’s plans are when everyone gets healthy. I’m not that good. Hyp didn’t know that Williams demotion on SF was merely a schedule quirk, so we’re even.
