CleveCluby
PC Only. More for Manage Mode type of play. After many, many CPU vs CPU games, a hundred slider adjustments, These are some speculations and thoughts. See if any of you agree. For the first time I’m actually seeing some walks. In some cases too many, But thank God we finally have them. I think a good balance can be reached between Ks and Walks using sliders. Need a few more k/s and a couple less walks. Things that are driving me crazy, There are far too many pick-off attempts. There has got to be a way to tone these down. I don’t know if the runners are taking to big of a lead or what, But I have seen as many as 7 straight attempts on one runner. I am wondering if there is a way to lower them by using MVP edit and reducing Pitchers PO value. Now for the part that bothers me more than anything, There seems to be far too many LINEDRIVES. The other thing is the ONE HOP GROUNDER.. Most of the time, I’m thinking it’s a Line drive. The announcer says, It’s a ground ball, ( But I never seen it touch the ground ) When I look at it on replay, sure enough it was. It went about a quarter of the way, then hit the ground, one hops all the way to 3B or SS. That is also the reason the RF throws runners out at 1B, The ball just get there to fast. There a far more of these One hoppers, than there are normal grounders, I think the problem is the ball is coming off the bat to hot, There is no deadening of the ball when it hits the ground. It’s like hitting cement. In HH, there was a way to adjust the friction of the grass and the bounce off the ball, once it hit the grass, the ball deadened and you could control the amount of hop, and roll… I would think that some where in the date-file in this game that there is an adjustment. I hope one of the Mod guys can find it. I have found by Slowing down the OF speed, -3, and decreasing the Throwing speed to –15, I have eliminated the RF- 1B problem. It make DPs look much more realistic and runners are generally only a couple of steps away from the bag on routine grounders. There are also to many HR’s but this can be adjusted using the CPU power rating. I am wondering if by lowering the CPU Contact, if it will decrease the sweet spot on the bat, resulting in more bloop singles and weaker grounders. The only other criticism I might find is CPU managers leave there pitchers in too long, especially if you are pounding them in the early innings. And once a pitcher starts to fall apart, he falls apart. It’s a slugfest until they remove him. I do believe that most of these problems can and will be addressed by someone. I think this is the best BB game EA has released. And with the Mod’s around, I might be playing this one for a long time. Any thoughts, suggestions, Ideas, or just comments will be appreciated. stecropper
CleveCluby, Well written and appreciated. Here some of my thoughts: ***Totally Agree*** See the thread title "CPU vs. CPU" - For the first time I’m actually seeing some walks. In some cases too many, But thank God we finally have them. I think a good balance can be reached between Ks and Walks using sliders. Need a few more k/s and a couple less walks. ***Try setting Pickoff = 0 in Team section with MVPEdit*** - Things that are driving me crazy, There are far too many pick-off attempts. There has got to be a way to tone these down. ***Try reducing CPU Contact for that will make the sweet spot on the bat much smaller*** - There seems to be far too many LINEDRIVES. ***Yep lowering the CPU Power will do it as well as lowering the CPU Contact will decrease the sweet spot on the bat*** - There are also to many HR’s but this can be adjusted using the CPU power rating. I am wondering if by lowering the CPU Contact, if it will decrease the sweet spot on the bat, resulting in more bloop singles and weaker grounders. ***Try setting Sub Pitcher = 2 in MVPEdits Team option*** - The only other criticism I might find is CPU managers leave there pitchers in too long, especially if you are pounding them in the early innings. ***Totally Agree*** - I do believe that most of these problems can and will be addressed by someone.
