Here's how to change the song titles in the game

I finally figured it out this afternoon at the same time that I figured out how to rename the stadiums. Unfortunately, to explain it the way I did it, you need some experience with a HEX editor if you expect to get quick results.

Just go to "MVP Baseball 2005data" and open up the FEENG.LOG file in a HEX editor, I chose HEX workshop because you can find it as a free download very easily by doing a search for it on Google, and I've used it since TP 99 rosters so I have no reason to change now.

Anyways, just get in there and search for the song titles. Only thing is, they have "."'s between each letter. So a string in HEX may look like:

430061006C0069006600

This will display: D.o.n.o.t

This will then lead you to the area where all the music files are, and you'll notice that the first song shows up below about the mumbo jumbo about "EA SPORTS TRAX". You will also notice that it looks as though EA had originally intended to include about 11 or 12 songs instead of just 9.

Sorry for the bolding I'm about to do, but it is very important to know when renaming the songs. You'll notice that there are 5 "."'s between each artist, song title, and album title. These dots are 00 in HEX format, and CANNOT be changed or else the entire file will screw up unless you change something else which I really don't think I'll take the time to find out. So when renaming songs, you are stuck with only being able to alter a certain amount of characters.

It's kind of annoying due to the fact that not all of the songs have their proper album names for me (due to the length), but it's better than nothing.

Hope this helps people, and hopefully another solution hasn't been posted yet to make me look like I'm just regurgitating somebody else's information.

What the hell am I doing wrong here?

430061006C0069006600 gives me "C.a.l.i.f." not D.o.n.o.t.

It seems as if either you're off with your values or I'm messing up somewhere... and I can NOT for the life of me, find anything in the feeng.loc file about the song tracks!

No no...I guess I messed that one up...sorry...but I guess you get the idea.

44006F006E006F0074

THAT is what will give you D.o.n.o.t

It MAY be possible to make the names longer...but I really have no clue how to go about doing that. I recommend not shortening them either. With that said, if you are replacing something such as "Donots" with "Don", just simply change the HEX values to 00 for each letter and that will work. At least that's what I did anyways.

Oh, one problem I kept running into was a "." was continually being converted to "2E" instead of 00. If anyone else is doing this, make sure you fix that, or your names will be cut off at the first "2E."

u know, i sort of did this in mvp studio 2004, it automated the whole thing for u. that's why team name length had to be the same as the slot u wer editing and the same with changing the song titles.

jennifer lopez?

Yes, how "feminine." It's not like the song is playing in sports arenas all over the country.

Anyway, I think I'm done for now... not bad, I can finally sit through franchise mode now...

Yeah that's what I figured, just thought I'd let some others know how to do it so they didn't have to see "The High Speed Scene, The IROC-Z Song" when it was really "Eazy-E, It's On" or something like that.

Good to see I could help you out Pared!

How do you know which value equals which letter?

You do not necessarily need to know the exact HEX values for say "Jays" for example. All you need to know is where to start putting that in, and how much space you have to work with, ie. Jays is a 4-letter word so replacing a 3-letter word would not work, but replacing a 5-letter word would in this situation as long as you throw in an extra 00.

But as to knowing which values they are equal to, a simple way around that is to toggle between editing the HEX and the other part of it where it shows up in stuff you can actually kind of decipher to a point. For something like "Blue", just change each letter one-by-one to the new letter. So basically highlight the B and make it a J, then scroll over a space to the "l" and make it an "a", etc.

If you have any more problems let me know somehow and hopefully I can be of some assistance.

Hey Pared, how'd you get the "MLB on Fox" theme and the theme from "Baseball Tonight"? I've looked around for them and have no idea where to get them...

Maybe Pared could zip all the files up and submit it as a mod?

that would go agains the RIAA. Now in saying that, I am not supporting the RIAA it's just that Trues has to look out for the site. I think it was actually Hory that thought about this. You can always pm Pared and you two can "work it out" b/t yourselves.
