Just discovered that Hex Workshop is easier.

Don't know about the free version, but the trial version gets the job done.

Yeah, I've been using Hex Workshop for YEARS! It's the best one I've had so far. The only other one I ever really gave a chance was something like Ultra-Edit 32 if that sounds right? It was pretty good as well, but I definitely prefer Hex Workshop.

Thanks,

I know somebody who could figure this out, in live someone changed the LOC files and you could type in the whole names, aritsts and song titles.

If they could figure this out in mvp, it would be awesome. For a number of reasons.

The problem I'm having with putting in the first song is only the artist (Killswitch Engage) shows up followed by "". I have five hex value 00's between the song and album so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. If anyone can help it'd be much appreciated :)

Alright guys with some trial and error I was finally able to figure it out myself. The key is to not use more letters in the edited file than what you are given in the original file. In other words The first artist is Trail of Dead, whatever artist you choose to replace it with their name can contain no more than 11 characters or you can only use the first 11 characters of their name. So you couldn't replace Trail of Dead with The Greatful Dead. The song is "Let It Dive" so that's 9 characters so whatever you replace it with it can contain no more than that.

Anything less is good, but you have to replace any left over space with 00 (those are zeros). Don't just put a period in there because in the hex string it'll put 2E and you'll end up with a bunch of periods in your jukebox. Also remember when you need a space between 2 words you have to put a 20 to seperate the words.

You have to flip back and forth between the hex string and the screen that contains the letters and periods. When you need to enter 20 (for a space between words) and 00 for periods to take up any space left over between the original artist/song and whatever you replaced it with it's easier to do that in the nex string side. When you are simply replacing letters you can do that in the side with the words.

This is what the original screen looks like (using Hex Workshop 4.2)

Original.jpg

This is my file after replacing the songs. Notice that I have several periods after J.o.v.i. that's because I only used 7 characters total where the original artist had 11 so I had to use the string 0000 0000 0000 0000 to use up those additional 4 characters. You cannot simply just put 5 periods and then start typing the song title. The artist name and song title in your edited file must start and stop exactly where they do in the original file.

After completion this is what my jukebox now looks like.

Hopefully this helps some out. I am by no means a hex expert, this was actually the first time I have ever edited a hex string so I know if I can do it then most of you probably can to, but if you're still struggling then PM me and I can help ya out.

Send your info to wxscpo@cableone.net and I'll see what I can do. Not promising to get right on it, but will have it back to ya as fast as I can.

I realize this is a major bump to this thread, but I was wondering if there is an easier way to edit the EA Trax titles than doing this Hex work. I don't mind the hex work, but I don't understand how to make the names longer than what is already specified in the EA Trax. For instance, the first EA Trax on the MVP 06 mod is that Jet song. According to this thread, I can only replace that artist title with another artist of 3 letters, is that true? I tried to change the first track to Thin Lizzy - Boys are Back - KEV. Kev is just a space holder for album title. But when it pops up in the game, it shows up as the artist of Thin and the title of the song "" and the artist of "re Back" (or something like that).

I tried to follow the way the other tracks were going, but that didn't seem to work. It looked like it was Artist title (with 00 between each letter) then ten 0's, Track title, ten 0's, album, ten 0's, then the next song. Do you have to follow that scheme? I did follow that scheme, but it didn't work for me. Then I read this thread again and saw where someone mentioned not to exceed the original length of the Trax's artists or song. Is that still the rule?

Well, if anyone could understand my ramblings here and could help, I'd appreciate it. It also looks like this thread should go in the Support forum, but I was just using this old thread to pose my question in. Thanks.
