Cris987
Guys, should hitters' ratings be affected by park factors? For example, should Helton's ratings be 99 (for the stats he produce) or 88 (because he hit in coors fields)? The problem here is that MVP only applies the park factors when you PLAY the game, not when you sim it. So, unless you control Helton himself and play every single game, the park factors will not affect him. What do you guys think?
paulw
Great thoughts, Chris. I don't know if EA takes ballpark factors into account. It's something I've been tinkering with. My opinion is that the Colorado players and pitchers should have their ratings adjusted. So yes, Helton should be an 88 (or whatever) not a 99. Ballpark factors are available in many books and probably also on the web.

paulw
Do you know if the player ratings are adjusted for the ballpark they play in or just based on raw stats??
Cris987
From what I have noticed, any simmed games (the games you don't play), do not take balllpark factors into account. Only the ones that you actually PLAY apply them.
bruins
But you have to remember, Helton only plays 81 games at Coors..
paulw
But you have to remember, Helton only plays 81 games at Coors..The normal way to adjust a playeres stats for ballpark factor is the park factor divided by two. So if Coors has a Park Factor of say 150 you'd adjust hitters ratings from Coors by dividing by 1.25 (99/1.25=79). This would need to be tweaked I'm sure for MVP but I think it might be a realistic thing to do. BTW, I think Coors actually has a Park factor of about 170.
